  1. For once a question that doesnt revolve around phreaking or BBS programs.. At least not directly lol.. How do all of you handle multiple emulation's? i.e. if you emulate c64, atari (various), etc.. Do you just have all of the emu's installed with game filename extensions associated with said emulator? Or is there an app that ya'll are using that handles catalogging of roms and also keeps track of what app needs to execute which file type? Or is it a bit of both? I assume fort hose who only emulate the 8 bit atari file extensions or even just loading Altirra and then loading "disks" from there would be fine.. Just curious.. Thanks for your input!
  2. Checking for interest in a site very similar to atariage but one that would revolve 100 percent around underground topics as they pertain to: Using various machines for cracking software down to technical details Using various machines to aid in the hacking of other computers Using various machines to aid in research and exploitation of the telephone system (worldwide) Collecting data on various underground 8/16 bit groups for historical purposes Collecting data on various internet/bbs sites that exist that may be of interest Collecting as many photographs, login/bbs screens, loader screens, etc for historical purposes Collecting as many USERS from back in the day to reconnect and discuss antics Spotlight discussions of such things as "Games Computers Play" or other landstone things that came from online Atari (or other vendors) The timeline would roughly revolve around 1975 to 1995 though exceptions to that will be fine. The board/forum will have a group feel to it similar to 2600, phrack or Phone Losers of America. Depending on interest there will be teleconferences, IRC chans, at least SOME kind of telnet BBS existence, and physical meetings or at least sub-gatherings at larger meetings. Contributions will be allowed, but as of right now I would have now "better access" for those that did. Money would simply go to paying for the software as I will not be using nulled forum software. I've had this hosting space for about 15 years now as I use it for other stuff too (my wardialers.org site for instance) so this isn't something that will deploy and get going only to be taken away. While I have set this up a few times before I never really solidified on it nor I did ever get (from what I recall) a single legitimate signup. This time around I would market the site on the various 8/16 bit sites on a weekly/bi-weekly basis. A lot of things are still up in the air - but I would prefer for a lot of choices to be made via polls on the site by the members once the usercount gets to a respectable amount rather than just arbitrarily setting it up myself. I think this pretty much gives a broad overview of what I am interested in doing. Statutes of limitations have LONG passed on anything you might have done among these topics and I think people enjoy discussing their exploits back in the day when the setting is one that promotes it. Think of my site as a "speakeasy". We will start small, and start empty but my goal is to have a dark little corner of the net where you can always go and find discussions like no other... This message will be cross posted in a few other sub boards here at AA and at other sites. Please disregard the initial annoyance of seeing it.... doc

  4. I've noticed in some user pictures they show themselves using their atari with a very mini sized flatscreen monitor in color. Im guessing this is only possible with something like Lothareks XBXE product. Obviously I can google and have found a ton of things but I was wondering what the general consensus was about the best one to buy? Thanks!!! docx
  5. Fantastic information!!!!! Another one to add to the hunt!!!! Evilm000000 if you have any further information or even memories about anything special about this bbs software if would be lovely to hear about them!
  6. Been reading this for the past few evenings.. Really awesome stuff and googling some of the unreleased products has led me to some cool material for my personal archive... One nitpick though - they spoke about building the 2600 and then just briefly spoke about the 400/800 as if it was an afterthought... Was anyone else hoping that there might have been more nitty gritty about that period? Great book for sure and I recommend it... Just seems like my favorite period wasnt covered that much.. Maybe there is more to come...
  7. Yea please bring it back.. i would imagine running it on real (and getting rarer) hardware might not be the best way to go - but just for the experience I hope more people run them in an emulated environment.. I’ve wanted to do it.. just havent found the time and the things i am interested in would generate no callers anyway lol..
  8. As I started reading this thread I began thinking “there should be a file explorer that does all of this plus can associate emu’s with file types or at least allow you to select on the fly which emu to use via right-click or something...” then I found out the program above does that... Now I am thinking we need a file manager that works with ALL emulated file types and can handle multi OS brokering... could be very cool and seen positively by a large number of people due to being cross-scene..
  9. I’m already sold on these.. if they can pull double duty I’m definitely sold.
  10. Only posted because *I* haven't seen them - especially sealed - around very often.... I am quite certain he uses an ebay template - every item likely has the same description - or at least base description... hope i didnt ruffle anyones feathers by posting.. just trying to help my atari peeps out!
  11. Quoted from a post found in the "BBS Club" here... "The Rats Nest BBS used a custom BBS program called RATSoft_XE which was the predecessor to the RATSoft ST BBS software. " I am well aware of RatSoftST and it is by far and away in my opinion the coolest BBS for the ST.. But I had no clue there was a XE version of this software!!!! Did anyone here experience it? Does anyone HAVE it??? Add another to the list of rare Atari BBS software to be found!!!
