  1. Read a few days ago that what Sega should have marketed as a Genesis strength againts the SNES (instead of Blast Processing), was its raster effects, what that heck are those? , never heard of them.
  2. How come no one but myself comented about this screenshot. Have everybody else already seen it?, how come i missed it before? It looks so awesome, awesome, awesome!. Look at that fckng dragon, man. Cool!!
  3. With some work right? (Heard you mention that a few times) I think if anything I would be interested in streamlining this game, making it where it would fit on a Atari ST cartridge. That has always been my dream for Star Raiders ST. And Lynx needs a good Star Raiders too. Lynx is too easy to code for....(so I have heard). I need a challenge. The Jag has been doing just that for the last 12+ years. I know you are an Atari man Gorf, but seeing how you like challenges, have you ever tought of coding for the Sega Saturn? Anyway, im just happy knowing that you are not only interested in coding for the Jag, but the 7800 and Lynx too, 3 very underused systems. By the way, did you loose interest in coding for the Astrocade?, that console looks very interesting, hope to get one soon .
  4. Your thinking the SuperFX chip...which is a lot more legit then 'Blast processing.' No, actually i meant Blast Processing. The Snes had all the advantages over our Genny: mode 7, color, sound chip, but we Genesis fans had blast processing to counter them, nyar-nyar. Ahh, the good old days .
  5. LikeI have been trying to tell everyone.....These sources are living proof. The Jag has MUCH more horse power left! Just no one seems to want to use it. Wow, mostly 68K. I wonder how much Battlemorphs code improved in that regard.
  6. Full 3d one?, hadnt heard of it. Will google it up.
  7. You are kidding right? Because if not, I think you are the FIRST to actually buy that Blast Prcessing crap. Jag will bitch slap the genny at anything....that's right...I said anything. Just keep it down Gorf, there might be some SNES fans on this forum, and they cant know it was just marketing crap .
  8. Its on GP32 too?, the whore has really been everywere!, thank god for homebrew. Yeah, i was kidding Gorf. It sounded funny last night, must have been the beers .
  9. I see. Gotta get a DS, the more i look into it, the more attractive i find it.
  10. Hey, if the NGage (i tought it didnt have 3d dedicated hardware) can do Quake, why cant the Jag? Hey, if the Genesis can do a pixel perfect port of Duke Nukem 3D http://youtube.com/watch?v=ECFldwaIHQc , why cant the Jag do it?. I have a question for the seasoned Jag coders, if you used all the might of Tom and Jerry, do you think the Jag could come close to the Genesis Blast Processing mode, while still being able to display 61 colors, and do as good a port of Duke as the Genny did? By the way, it seems those Quake ports for DS need more ram the the console has onboard. I didnt know there were carts with extra ram for it.
  11. Well, after working on improving graphics on a soon to be released homebrew, I know 7800 is capable of ports that look pretty close to many 80's games. It's too bad there's not a lot people working on the 7800. Im coming....promise....just too much on the plate right now. Hey, i was hoping that the Lynx would be next for you Gorf, after the Jag. Oh well, love the 7800 too.
  12. Mhh, the DS is much more powerfull than a Jaguar, when it comes to 3D It is? *looks at his DS manual* According to the manual, the DS is capable of only 2048 triangles/line, and that requires effectively locking up one of the CPU's. The Jag as/is can match that, but without locking up the CPU's. While yes, the DS can do more polys/second in theory, it doesn't have the memory bandwidth to pump out the peak. (sounds like the Jaguar in this regards) Well, you just have to look at the DS games, even the first ones wich were released. You can't compare them to the 3D games on Jag. I'm not a dev at all, so I compare what I have on screen. The DS when released had a better toolchain, I think we can all agree. Plus it is mostly compatible with the legacy Gameboy systems, which means you have decades of familiarity with it. Not the same case as the Jag, so you're into an apples/oranges situation. So downix, in your opinion, the Jag aint that far from the type of games the DS can do, 3d wise?
  13. Oh my god, this guy is right! What have i been playing?, the Jaguar really sucks!!. Sorry people i am selling my Jag and leaaving this forum right now . Hey downix, the O2 aint that bad either, but i guess we all have our preferences.
  14. As somebody who has always wanted to see what the Jag could really do (by itself), i dont care about games done for the new DSP. If its just to have more advanced titles and having more games just for the sake of it (i see that many want to port 16 bit titles, and even those are probably using the DSP), well, i have other consoles for that. On the other hand i am excited about having a new media that offers a ram upgrade for developers to use, and it appears that if it only was that, everyone would be in favor of the CF. Just my 2 cents.
  15. I tought the DS was more powerful than the N64, or at least it looks like it on its small screens. So 2 64 bit screens equal a 128 bit system, so it is exactly 2 times more powerful than the Jag .
  16. Fully polygonal-gourad shadded-FPS Berzerk, with simple graphics like the original, but fast as hell. Forget about Quake, i would take this one any day of the week.
  17. Can somebody mention a PC FPS from the mid-nineties that actually worked to the Jaguars strengths?. I know that there probably isnt since the Jaguar is a pretty unique piece of hardware, but i was just wondering. I would also like to be pointed to a PC racing game that used only gourad shaded polygons, to get an idea of what a game of that style would look on our cat, i am sure it would look pretty cool. I usually imagine a cross between Virtua Racing and Battlemorph, it would look sweet . How many polygons per second does the Quake engine display, anyway?. Would an engine like Hover Strike CDs work for a FPS?. Gorfs told us that if you moved the code thats for the M68K, to the other procesors, Strike would run at 60 frames per second, correct me if i am wrong. Man, i gotta start learning to code, all this talk really facinates me, but usually get lost once you guys start talking seriously .
  18. Pff, even the Megadrive/Genesis, can handle a Quake like engine, check out this video . I dont see why the Jag shouldnt be able to handle not only Quake, but Halo! .You just have to forget about the RISCS and code as much as posible on the mighty Motorola, check what it does for the aformentioned Genesis game!!!! I know that the Jag is not as fast as the blazing Sega Genesis, after all nothing beats blast processing (7.8 MHZ!!!), but with a little hard work, i know it can be done. Just ask guys like Gorf and AtariOwl .
  19. Never played it (just read reviews), but Rescue on Fractalus could be a cool option for an update, even if it was just graphically. Ballblazer too!
  20. Not as old as most of the games mentioned, but what about STUN Runner?, how well could the Jaguar run a straight conversion of that? I have to be honest, i grew up playing with the NES; i had a 2600 and a Colecovision before it, but i was too young and my parents rarely let me play them. So the NES made me a gamer for life, and i missed on the wonderfull era that was before it, thus i didnt know about a lot of the games you guys have mentioned. Crystal Castles, Major Havoc, and I Robot particulary intrigue me, i have been reading some reviews and you guys are right, they would make amazing Jaguar games, they all sound very original. Its a shame that they have not been console ports of some of this, but that would make the Jaguar remakes even more special, right?
  21. The only thing public will be is what you see me post from time to time. You wont even know who it is that is helping me till it is actually working. And even then you wont know. this i smainly to respect their wishes and my policy of revealing no one that works for me outside the 3 of us that are the core of 3DSSS. You will know how things are progressing nonetheless. I will keep the community updated. There is a very brilliant team of folks assembled working on very nice projects for the Jag. The tools is one of those. 3DSSS is too busy with other paying jobs and these are great and top notch people who are preparing some very nice stuff for everyone. We are trying to make a suite of tools that even novices and noobs can jump right into. Then there are several games. Scott, Terance and myself are dying to get back to things Jaguar. We however have another commitment and that must be completed first and for most. This has taken us a lot longer than we had anticipated but I think the final products we are currently doing will be found pretty cool by most and hopefully worth the extra wait by those paying us to complete it. You can't rush creativity. I see, hey, you cant be a Jaguar fan if you dont have patiance, right? Thanks for sharing this stuff, wow, the Jag 2 ...
  22. Man, after reading some of the stuff about the Jag 2 on this thread, now i wanna change my vote. Where can i find more info about this project?
  23. Anyone can come with ideas of classics that would have the same frenetic style of Tempest 2K and Defender 2K on their updates for the Jaguar?
  24. Well, we almost got an R Type remake (kinda) with the Native demo. Ah, a Turrican game that made good use of the Jaguars 2d muscle, that would rock. All nice picks man.
