Watched an episode of Knight Rider on one of the antenna channels today, they added 5000 megabits of data to KITT as an upgrade. A whopping 625MB! And Jason Bateman was a kid in it.
-
Yes, which explains why Devon needed that tractor-trailer rig, because they needed to hook KITT up to an IBM 3084 mainframe, which transferred the updates vis-a-vis a 9600 beee-brrrr-brrrrt .... beeeeeeee 8-N-1 modem, which also explains why that rig had a kick-ass sleeper-cab complete with a Betamax and a minibar, because a gargantuan 625MB update might take forrrr-evvvv-er.
Incidentally, that red WHIRRRL-a-whir thingy on top of the hood was actually a prototype de-multiplexing IR-port receiver which kind of sped things up.
I'm not making this up!

Alestorm is coming to my city, and I have tickets! Thanks to either @save2600 or @GoldLeader, don't remember which one of your posts/comments introduced me to them about 6 years ago.
-
And Elvenking is opening! I like them too! (YMMV) Looks like the closest they are coming to me would be Omaha, NE but that's an 8 hour drive if memory serves (We did do that once for a concert...)...These days, I'm making sure I have the energy to drive down to Denver Sunday to see my friends' bands play. And that's only 2 hours away

Our old dog is apparently mostly deaf. We didn't have to give the doggie xanax this year, she didn't notice the neighborhood fireworks at all, even while outside.

All these buffet incident mentions remind me of the old macaroni and beef email forward. (Language warning!)

Ah, yes. A classic. Reminds me of (also NSFW language) anal fissure Bob.

Holy cow - I have always had 18+ allowed on Steam and am no prude, but this year's discovery queue has some outright hardcore porno games.
Game engines have probably just made it easier for these accomplishments for smaller developers.
Anyway, back to some demo videos...

@Rick Dangerous if you must know, the one that made me go "Holy crap!" for the fact it exists and is on Steam was "Operation Lovecraft: Fallen Doll"
Beware to anyone easily offended! This ain't no Custer's Revenge!

Finally got through my post-30+ year playthrough of Zelda 2. Only 2 games/1 retry. (Don't ask how many savestates...)
Now deciding what's next. Metroid, SM2/3? Do I dare even try Ninja Gaiden, which I never managed to beat the final boss back then because the 2nd to last was so awful?
-
I don't remember Zelda 2 being such a M$%^$%#@^&ing B*%^h back in the day. I remember it being fun.
My new playthough is becoming painful. Thank the modern nerds for savestates!

Select Cancel the first life/magic and go for the attack upgrade. Those Bubble skulls are killable(Lots a stabbing) and worth 50 exp points. Find exp bags. Every 6th enemy you kill will drop a potion/exp bag. Once find a 1up on the overworld, don't collect and remember the location. You'll need it for the Great Palace. Remember where red potion in palace are, they respawn upon leaving/entering palace. One town folks don't know which way is east or west telling you where Payapa Palace is. I am not Error.

FedEx delivered my wife's Christmas present to the wrong place. Tracking says "Left at leasing office". We live in a house.

At the art dealer I learned that people into Baroque were out of Monet.

You think Star Trek: The Motion Picture was bad in the theater? Try being 10 years old and being brought to Dune at 8PM.
-
The only I-shouldn't-be-watching-this-movie moment in my childhood was when my mom brought me to Batman in 1989 (PG13, I was 9). The violence was not much more than the DC comic books I was reading at the time, but seeing it on the screen was different. I vividly remember "the taste of cool violence" when the Joker was killing people for fun.
Dune is kind of scary even for some adults and I found it disturbing the times I watched it on the TV as a kid, so watching it at 10 years old on the big screen must have been a traumatic experience.
As a kid, I don't think my parents ever brought me to a movie that was too complex or without enough action. In retrospective, it would have been cool.

I have a brief cameo in the latest Kent Rollins youtube video. But even the few here that have actually met me might not even spot it.
-
@SlidellMan Yup! His recipes always look amazing. I got to meet him and his wife, and try the food in person. They are the nicest people you could imagine.

Hm, this is local to me.... Which one of you is it?

%$^&^*#@#. I think our furnace is about to die. Guess I know what I'm buying for Christmas. Whee.
Edit for clarity-
No, I am not hinting for donations of any kind. Just pissed off and ranting!

Ours would just randomly lock up from time to time. Needed a reset. Had it repaired a few times, but it never fixed it. Was just old. We did the reset method for years.. Finally replaced it last year... The newer ones are much more efficient, so that is nice. But of course, it will take ages to offset the cost of a new one. But that wasn't the driver to replace it, just a nice benefit. Good luck!

Showed my wife the new Ford Bronco video. Might have been the stupidest thing I have ever done.
-
@digdugnate No, but she wants to order one. That stuff costs money!

Coworkers: I don't care if you believe your email is of high importance. I removed that column from my view.

XFL Teams announced. Go St. Louis BattleHawks!!!

I like Deadspin's take. "They look like teams in a direct-to-Netflix movie."

I hate Windows 10 so much as well as all the modern website UX. I may have to figure out how to be an electrician or something to get out of IT, because in 10 years I won't be able to stand using computers anymore.

It takes a lot of digging, to find all the shit they hid. I agree, it sucks. Luckily, my monster PC was configured by security IT services, from my company, creepy shit they can do with it remotely, fully secure. Took me forever to do half of it, to my own machines. Still dual booting Windows 7 Ultimate and Windows 10 Pro, on my own shit. Some drivers don't work on 10.

This guy apparently is familiar with what my job is like.

I realized the only time I watch 3D movies at home is when my wife is out of town, because they give her headaches.
And yes, I am one of the three people that liked the 3D TVs, and thankfully mine still works.
-
Tron Legacy is probably my favorite. Ready Player One is good, Pacific Rim, while kind of a dumb movie, has really good 3D.
Just check Amazon, most don't look overpriced compared to normal. The used media stores around here put the 3D Blu Rays in a separate section so they're easy to find. Oh, and they're plentiful on eBay too.

I took this photo on Saturday at VCFMW. Universes colliding.

Tried to ask my dermatoligist why there seems to be a huge rash of necrobumps lately.

Someone mentioned Horizon as Moon Patrol II. Any game that starts at the beginning of a stage after death is evil.
-
Strangely enough I played this game once way back at an arcade in Berkeley in 1985 or so. I was blown away and I swear my hazy memory remembers the marquee at that time actually said, "Moon Patrol II" or something like that. So glad for the internets and to be able to play it again all these years later. It is an awesome game, but yeah thank goodness for modern day save states when playing it via an emulator.

Solo guy sitting at the bar was watching people play games live on his phone. World of Tanks and Dark Souls. Seemed weird.
