  1. It's missing the silver knob, but the main problem is that one of the axes X or Y, forget which, doesn't respond unless you hold the pad upside down.
  2. I ONLY have the Flash Multi-Cart for the Vectrex! Wish I could get someone to fix a spare controller I have, but find replacement parts is next to impossible.
  3. I've been collecting hard core for the last 7 years, hardly ever use of these value guides.
  4. It's been said that Microsoft simply has no concept of what gamers/consumers want or don't want, etc. Who can forget their arrogance and daftness on launching the first Xbox in Japan? That was quite a flop. That said, I think any failure of the Xbox One is PS4's gain, not the Wii U.
  5. TMOSteel, always online doesn't matter. What matters is that the game will be installed and MUST be activated with your Xbox Live account. Once that is done, unless you or MS somehow deactivate that, the game disc is essentially useless but as a backup. All MS mentioned was the plan for a used game trade in service, where I think you're just "Trading" in your ownership to MS directly via XBL. Services like Red Box, Gamefly, will be SOL.
  6. They overheat quite easily, and oddly enough, I've never really seen anyone offer repair services to the masses. Not sure if it's too much trouble or what.
  7. What about cross platform games? Pixel you mention Ghostbusters. The 360/PS3 version is superior graphically, but is the Wii version worthwhile to have both? I think about Call of Duty, Force Unleashed, same thing. The Wii version is way down graphically, but I'm thinking being able to play using the Wii mote is more fun than the high-res systems.
  8. I doubt it, as I figure they are still probably a ways off from having this ready even for the beta testing period.
  9. Well, unfortunately engadget must have a lot of morons who lurk there.
  10. Lost in Shadow is a game I'm often recommended to buy, haven't gotten around to it.
  11. http://dpvideogames.com/webcasts/podcast-s02e02 Digital Press Podcast S02E02 (We talked most vector games).
  12. Going by the Wikipedia definition, the 2600 is my favorite hands down. The wealth of games does it, plus the great play control. 2nd is a tossup between CV, 5200, and Vectrex. I have little or no interest in the rest, including the Intellivision.
  13. The graphics for a system that came out in 1978 or whatever are astounding, putting the 2600 and Intellivision to shame. Cost is a major obstacle, and like I said, the fragility.
  14. As I was saying, many modders have used a cut-off switch to go from 7800 to 2600 mode. I think without doing that, there's issues I think with video. I would also try it on another LCD TV.
  15. Very expensive and very fragile, prone to static electricity damage and overheating on a rug.
  16. Until someone miraculously develops an SD-card based solution, Saturn is a tough go in terms of not wanting to buy all the games. I agree with the others though, you have to play imports. Too many good games left in Japan. PS: Can't you run imports without modding using one of those Action Replay Plus cartridges?
  17. Warner had no clue how to run a video game company, and Atari was run by the inmates. It wouldn't have mattered. The rage, and for good reason, was coming out of Japan. Atari had chances to pair with Nintendo and Sega on the NES and Genesis and did not. That would have been the only thing that "might" have changed. Simply using Atari as a distribution arm. It would be 20 years before "western" game designers could catch what was being done in Japan. And Nintendo had pretty much a monopoly on them.
  18. I agree, when it first came out I was fairly impressed until I saw X-Wing on PC.
  19. As others have said, IBM already had almost all the business contracts for mainframe and mini computers. When the micro computer became important, it was natural they just had to leverage their business connections. They had, still do, a vast network of sales, marketing, support, training, etc.
  20. is there a couple of pots on the board that can be adjusted? my 2600 needed that, though the 78 was fine. Yurkie did them. I thought though that you really need to have a switch between the 26/78 modes?
  21. WTF, why is this game so expensive now? When I was a kid, everybody bought it.
  22. Amazes me the buffoonish prices people bid for their stuff.
