  1. It has been at least a decade since I owned or used an ST. But it is possible I still have the manual printed from a PDF, If the PDF itself is no longer available for download. Have you already searched online for the Neo 3 manual? I don't have the PDF, just possibly my print out of it I would have to scan again.
  2. I am curious, before I start looking into if an order I placed might be considered late, and something I need to make contact with Atari Age Store about. I couldn't remember my password at the time and just checked out as a guest to save immediate hassle. It will be 3 weeks from date of order on Sunday the 12th, this weekend.
  3. Alternate Reality City&Dungeon. Bottom line for me. I believe I spent as much or more time with the 2 Alternate Reality games than all other games on my 8-bit combined. The City used 48-64K of avalable ram. The Dungeon used 48-128K of available ram. I owned a 130XE originally.
  4. Any game that makes use of the keypad buttons 4, 6, 7, 8 and 9 benefits from a pro controller since 4&6 and 7, 8, 9 are mapped to the extra buttons. Towers 2, Syndicate, Baldies, I-War, Cybermorph, Hoverstrike,Trevor Mcfur and many more, can use it extensively. Though many of these games will still require the keypad for functions not mapped to 5 or the 12 buttons, but this is tstill true of games that were made compatible with the pro-controller too, like Battlemorph, Battlesphere, Hover Strike and Skyhammer, but still use the 1, 2, 3 and 5 keypad buttons for functions too. Blue Lighting uses the shoulder buttons for after burner and airbrakes. The Y buttons changed between internal and external view. With AvP you can actually make use of the strafing that was practically pointless when you had to reach for 7 and 9 buttons on the keypad. While not mapped to the 4&6 shoulder buttons, they are mapped to Z & X buttons which at least makes it more possible to strafe, if still difficult to fire when strafing. Even circle strafing is possible by turning with the D-pad left or right while pressing the Z & X buttons. Iron Soldier 1&2 are made easier to select left and right hip and hand weapons. Doom and AvP allow certain weapons to be selected and map activation (Wolfenstein 3D map too) with the new buttons. The list goes on. Of course there are quite a few jag games made with the pro controller in mind and can be set up specifically for using all 5 new buttons or maybe just take advantage of the shoulder buttons as mentioned above. Most say on the box if they are pro compatible, but a few games only mention it in the instructions.

  6. I just posted the same image twice so it was right in front of you to view and go along with each story. an assumtion on my part as my screen resolution requires scrolling to see my entire post, so you wouldn't have seen the image while reading the second story.

  8. as I said in the opening paragraph, it's the same exact image I just couldn't decide which back story and image name I preferred...so if you like the image, download the .xex name you prefer.
  9. considering a Rose by any other name will still smell as sweet, I offer up a choice here. Upon pondering a title for this image conversion (source image file name was numbers and random letters), because nothing popped into my head instantly, I imagined a back story to help choose a name for the image. But two different back stories regarding the image is what my imagination came up with, so I leave it up to you which name you prefer. Exact same .xex image, different names. The Mad Mutineer. 57 colors. Lieutenant Johnson didn't see much sense in wasting time and dwindling fuel to leave that madman stranded on a deserted moon after the ship was retaken...(and with a perfectly good space suit)...considering the only way to stop him before he initiated the vessel's self destruct was to flood a compartment with gamma radiation. He explained the entire incident clearly and in great detail in his report to Capcom, but apparently no one bothers to read beyond the first sentence, so during communications with Capcom he again tried to explain, but they just told him to shut up and do it, the order came from the highest levels. Man! did he hate Beurocrats! But orders were orders! GS_MadMutineer.xex Slow Captain Joe. 57 colors. Repeat Capcom? Did you say Gamma Radia... Capcom knew Captian Joe was a bit slow on comprehension, but he was a paradigm of a specimin in nearly every other way, and they trained him for quick tigger reactions as well as any monkey! It took minutes for Captain Joe's response to reach Capcom. He only had seconds... That was all the audio transmition, along with this video image that appeared after the audio. Thanks for clearing up my confusion guys...I knew you guys would know those basics and I must have been me missing something...I over-focused on the mention of "Grafx_9" bit, my mind not comprehending that this might be a reference to something other than GTIA mode 9, and also misunderstood reference to 63 sector images and reference to umcompressed Micro-Illustrator files as being one and the same, even though I found it quite odd that compression would only reduce the file by 1 sector, but just accepted (assumed) that 63 sectors=uncompressed .mic file regardless of it not making logical sense to me. Rambrandt allows for saving and loading of uncompressed Micro-Illustrator format as I recall. I never used the option myself or looked at file sector lengths. But I remembr the option. It's been a few years since I used the program. But I'm pretty sure no Rambrandt specific graphic files are compressed in anyway either, due to the expected use of DLI's within the images. You can choose to save an image in compressed or uncompressed micro illustrator format, but then none of the extra color from DLI's or any animation bits are saved, just the basic underlying 4-5 colors. The ability was merely for compatibility with Micro-Illustrator so those file could be loaded into Rambrandt and extra features added, or so any images started with Rambrandt could have a stripped-down Micro-illustrator version saved so people without Rambrandt or the image loader could view the basic graphics on Micro-illustrator compatible applications and loaders. I've never come across any (recognized from DLI color version) graphic art collection of Rambrandt 128/256 pallette DLI art saved in standard Micro-illustrator format though. I have come across graphic images that were originally Micro-Illustrator images that were edited by a secondary party using Rambrandt to add DLI's producing more colorful representations of the original art. Rambrandt's tools, limited animation tools, and extended modules like the Solid Object Module along with DLI's, multiple controller options and multiple graphic modes to choose where the only reasons that made Rambrandt better than most other Micro-illustrator compatible Atari art programs. I never cared for Rambrandt's menu interface and usually used Atari Artist with the touch tablet or Diamond Paint through Diamond GOS with an ST mouse with their nice icon-driven point-and-click menus, and when the basic 4-5 color image was done, then save it and load it into Rambrandt (abbreviated text based menu system on two lines at the bottom and multiple page flipping of the two lines to cover all tools and options) to add DLI's and recolor or add pre-made solid objects and do animations.

I'm in shock here, due to the fact that the expect all of you who have replied, also including the topic starter Charlie Chaplin, to know exactly what graphics 9 is and how to use/display them and why they use the same number of sectors as standard Micro Illustrator (Koala, Atari Artist). So I can only think that I must be missing something, as my explanation to these image files is quite simple, and is covered in any introductions to Atari graphics in anything published (physical or online): Intentionall trying to keep it all in newbie-lamens terms...Graphics 9 is one of the three GTIA modes that have access to the full 256 color palette that Antic graphic modes do not, which are restricted to 128 color pallete. GTIA resolutions (9, 10, 11) are 80x192 pixels and use the same amount of sectors as Micro Illustrator files because the extra color data replaces space memory normally used for the higher resolution pixels. But normal Micro Illustrator art and display programs won't load them correctly as the Antic can't interperate the resolution and extra colors in it's graphic modes. What is required is a graphic art or display program like Rambrandt that is compatible with most GTIA and Antic graphic modes. If graphics 9 is selected as the mode from the menu of Rambrandt, these image files will be able to be loaded and displayed. Or are you who responded quite aware of all of this, as I thought you should be, and I'm missing something else? I admit I don't recall at all about Rambrandt or other graphic art programs that use the three GTIA modes, if they use 62 or 63 sectors or why there would be an extra sector required for them. So maybe that sector makes these graphic 9 images different and incompatible with other GTIA graphic art or display programs, and were done that way for some unique reason? Part of the digitisation process possibly? I would assume the hardware/software combo called "Computer Eyes" by Alpha systems back in the day was used for the digitization process as it's the only way to digitize on the Atari I am aware of? if that is the case, than the Computer eyes software should probably have a loader/display program for these images included in the files with it. However, I have viewed countless digitized GTIA images with Rambrandt and loaders that supporting GTIA modes, so maybe they are all 63 sector and I've forgotten. I'm not in a position atm to check image files I have for sector lengths.   13. Hello everyone, I'm so sorry to have worried anyone. My family and I have been fine. I will just copy and paste a recent reply I made to @thedoctor Yes, I am ok. I am currently using my phone's hotspot for internet, awaiting our electric co-op to install broadband fiber optics later this year. What happened is I got a new Xbox for Christmas, started transferring titles over from my old Xbox and accidentally deleted some games I thought had been copied already. So I use my hotspot, not thinking, to download the games again and I went over my 20GB limit (I have unlimited data with upto 100GB before throttling and had that in the back of my mind) and they throttled me so much I'd get time-out errors trying to load any page. My billing cycle just came up on the 15th, so I am back online now. Thank you for your concern. I will be posting a few delayed Rastaconverter posts in a few minutes, after I catch up on everything.   16. I forgot to mention that this is a mirror image of the real photo to get better detail I couldn't achieve with the original orientation. Actually @drpeter, many images I've done since you joined the topic/forum are mirrored, as you taught me the limitations to the left screen half compared to the right, and there's more cycle time for the display list changes to occur on the right to make color changes, or something vaguely to that effect, I need to re-read all of that "tutorial" you post here sometime back. Or was it another thread? I usually don't mention it much unless a specific reason I need to tell comes up. But I felt it necessary for these photos of landmark National Park landscaped from all around the world, to tell, if it's a mirror image or not. The conversion I have running on this PC now, is also mirrored. It's of Cradle Mountain N.P. Tasmania. EDIT: By the way, I am not trying to do a run of national park landscape photo's (or paintings) from all over the world. I just did a search along those lines and images that caught my for personal pleasure or because I thought they might convert well with Rastaconverter I saved. And I'm sure some I chose will never make the final cut, but I'll collect more when I've attempted what I have.

I have Sheddy's Rastaslide files right were they are supposed to be, but I've never gotten around to trying to use it and I either didn't know or forgot that that program has the tools for fixing .xex's! I thought they were two separate programs/utilities! Thank you very much for straightening me out! And thanks for the tips on using it! It turns out I needed the link anyway, as what I had on my PC was version 3.0.

I thought I had downloaded them ages ago, I'm sure I did, but I can't find the file(s) where I should have put them, among my RC files (or folder/files that might be them) as I've no idea what they were called to start a search on my PC or here on AA A8 forums or this thread.   19. Since this is my first post in the thread, let me say first directed at @youxia that yes, the 3DO is still worth getting even if you pay over $100 for a used console. I have a 3DO and Jaguar as does the guy you are quoting, and I have both WotW and Kasumi Ninja, and graphically they are on a par, also on a par in game control, which is terrible. Yes, WotW had better sounding music it gets off the CD than KN's cartridge. But the later released Ultra Vortek for the Jaguar was also on cart and trumps both graphically and the controls are spot on. Though the default game speed is slighly slow, but there is a code to enter for an option of turbos speed which really makes it outshine itself and the other two fighters and why they didn't choose it as the default speed and openly allow for a slower "training" speed instead, is beyond me. UV is the best fighter between both systems and the music is very near CD quality on cart, and sounds great, the sound track booms! but I also think that UV is on a 4MB cart and KN is only 2MB. As to the much malign Jaguar controller, I definitely prefer it to any 3DO controller, it is much more comfortable in my hands and the pro-controller that adds 3 more buttons and shoulder buttons is the best between them. Both systems have games on one that than the other, both in terms of ports of the same game, and original titles. Or better games in certain genres than the other. I purchased both systems (3 including the Jag CD add on) on clearance, all combined for the same price as the Playstation and Saturn cost in 96', and the bonus of all 3DO and Jaguar games on clearance for a few dollars instead of paying 10 times as much for Playstation or Saturn games and the first generation of games for those newer systems didn't look any better than the best of 3DO and Jaguar libraries. Between the two, I had a large enough library of great games, and exclusives to satisfy me through the 32-bit era until I bought a Dreamcast in '99. The 3DO, Jaguar/CD and Dreamcast are still my 3 favorite consoles of all time to this day. And don't fall for the Jaguar being not as powerful as the 3DO in 3D graphics. They did things differently, and the Jaguar had plenty of bad example as far as 3D graphics that didn't look as good as comparable games on the 3DO, but there are some that are completely comparable and on par too, that came out at the end of the Jaguar's life, as good looking as the Studio 3DO and other 3D games that came out at the end of the 3DO's life. For me, the 3DO and Jaguar systems compliment each other and complete each other with a combined library of great games where I never envied the Playstation 1 or the Saturn. Either one alone would have not been enough in terms of the size of their libraries to keep me satisfied until '99 and the DC. The 3DO and Jaguar/CD are tied for my favorite console(s) of all time and the DC comes in at second for my three favorites. Of course these days I also own a Saturn and a PS2 (which I use almost exclusively for PS1 games with texture filtering set to ON. The Saturn is my forth (or third in my list since 3DO/Jag are tied) favorite console of all time, and no Playstation 1-4 comes below the Saturn. I also own original and 360 Xbox's and Xbox One S, but I have no order of preference beyond the Saturn. I've never been a fan of anything, or owned anything from Nintendo. Previous to the 90's "next gen" 3DO and Jag, I only ever owned Atari and Sega machines. To this day never a Nintendo. Looking back on both the 3DO and Jaguar and whether either one is worth getting today, the 3DO yes, only because the prices of systems haven't sky-rocketed 10 fold like the Atari Jaguar, even though I'd recommend both as great systems with some great games otherwise. The Jaguar costs $500 or more for a used Jaguar, and even more, for a new system. Even the Jaguar CD, due to rarity (only 20 thousand ever made) are selling for about $1000 now, with only a library of about 20 commercial releases. A dozen originally, but many original unreleased but finished CD games and new commercial quality ports have been released over the years since due to the avid fan base that the 3DO doesn't have. I'm just glad I already own them and don't have to pay the ridiculous collector's prices today.
  20. I have owned all three U.S. released 3DO's since '96. I purchased the FZ-1 at Electronics Boutique on clearance, a used model for $99 when new one's were on sale for $149. But EB was giving the bonuses for used and new to clear stock. The salesman told me it was a special favor he was doing for me, that the free bonuses weren't sanctioned by the manufacturer for used. But that was probably the salesman attempting to endear me and make the sale, and I knew it a possibility but it was a great deal regardless and had already made up my mind to purchase. Anyway, that 3DO worked fine for several years until I sold it and most of my possessions to both lighten a move to California from Illinois and to help finance the move, after college. Then once settled in SoCal, I purchased a Goldstar model as the mom&pop game shop I went to to repurchase only had FZ-10's and Goldstars for purchase. I thought the Goldstar would be of the same quality build and design of the FZ-1. I started having problems with it just a few months after purchase, an it stopped loading discs entirely soon after. I had built of quite a library by this time, and many more games I wanted, all on clearance still on store shelves, so I went back and bought an FZ-10 model and then me and my friend, upon return with the FZ-1 reenacted the seen from Office Space and them destroying the printer, using the Goldstar. And it was good. The FZ-10 worked for many years with no problems until I sold it a decade later merely because I still favored the design and style of the FZ-1, and owning multiple consoles but not so much space, I prefer stackable electronic devices were possible, The FZ-1 had a nice flat footprint to fit my Atari Jaguar and Jaguar CD on top, which I also got on clearance prices at EB when I bought my first FZ-1. I chose this route instead of getting a Playstation or Saturn since between the two they had a larger library of games that I like or wanted to get, plenty already released to keep me happy with all the games on clearance for a few dollars each, instead of paying 10 times as much for new release Playstation and Saturn games and the first generation of games looked no better to me than what was out on the 3DO and Jaguar. But I digress. So I know own two FZ-1's, one purchased for parts to repair the other, which the laser finally started failing on after about a decade. But 20 years ago I also went back to school again to learn electronics, so I repair and maintain my own now. So I'm still prefer the FZ-1. But if you want reliable (though the laser in the FZ-1 and FZ-10 are identical) I'd have to agree the FZ-10 if best. You also get a built-in memory manager with the FZ-10 whereas on the FZ-1 requires a manager off of disc that you can only get on a demo menu disc, unless it can be burned to CD-R separately, I don't know. I also don't know if the FZ-10 model can load CD-R's like the FZ-1 can, or at least the FZ-1 revision models I own. The FZ-1, over the years I have had to fix the power supply and the laser. So there may be plus's and minus's to both. And original games are expensive, most selling again used for original prices from back in the day or more. So CD-R's can save a lot of money. There is a flash card drive solution, but from what I understand, only one guy in Russia makes them and they have to be ordered through AliExpress and paid for through a bit coin service, and it's hundreds of dollars.
  21. Sorry, that would be B&C Computervisions and Best Electronics, both Atari exclusive dealers and web sites should pop up with a search of the full names with Atari and in on the search. They also both sell on eBay, but don't necessarily have the full range of stock listed there for sale and you can still purchase directly and get answers through e-mail correspondence too and more to see available on the web sites. Though now that I recall, I believe B&C store site has been down for a while and the only contact is through eBay, sorry. They are 'MyAtari' seller on eBay, but it's still best to contact them directly via seller contact if a replacement badge doesn't show up for sale. They may even have new old stock case haves for sale still too as another option. I believe Best Electronics still goes by that name on eBay, but I stopped being a customer for personal reasons years ago, and I'm not going to sway you from doing business with them if they are the only place that has what you want. Though I do suggest they be your last resort. Of course they may not show up on your country's version of eBay, and you may have directly to the U.S. ebay and may only be allowed to browse and not log in for all I know. It depends on the individual country for me, from the U.S.; the U.K. allows it and some E.U. countries, but not all, etc. around the world.

Note: sky colors blend much better in the .xex I also just noticed that there are some errors showing in the .xex on the lower third of the the mountain.They are the blue line segments. Since I've yet to use the tools to fix these, if someone can help me out I would appreciate it, for this one.   23. Nice red paint swatch! What room are you going to paint that color? Or is that for the exterior of your house? We prefer yellow cloths called flags, with a wrapped bundle on the end, so they can be tossed onto the field. And these days with referees throwing them so much, red would make the field look like a blood bath! So it's a good thing!
  24. When I saw the title of this thread it reminded me of the 7800 version which actually had a bug(s) that made the game truly impossible to finish. A hack of it was done and renamed "Possible Mission."

You don't need extra coat(s) of primer if you use paint with the primer in it like the can I showed you, and I still have texture visible on my computers, it doesn't make it disappear unless you apply it too thickly. Not that I really ever cared about the texture anyway myself though. My coating technique is thin coats applied evenly. Spray painting does take practice and experience to get it right. I've done dozens of computers and peripherals over the years. The main thing is to follow the directions on the cans precisely (the proper distance from the surface and even passes slightly overlapping each pass) and be patient! Don't expect the first or even second coat to fully conceal the plastic with paint, if you do, you are laying it on way too thick. about half an hour between coats and then let the paint cure for 72 hours (some paints say 48, but wait 72 no matter what as humidity and other factors are at work and it is best to just be patient. If you forget and wait too long in between coats, the same applies before you add more coats.
