  4. what kinda stuff will be for sale at Jagfest? from previous pictures i've seen there didn't seem to be much just lot's of crazy priced software
  5. this is an original bus mouse with ball and rollers it's got nothing to do with mobiles! the room i use the atari in doesn't have internet connection anyway, in fact there is nothing electrical other than the atari and the above artical was written in the early 1990's it's a PCB issue in the mouse, but what? is what i want to know....
  6. i encountered this problem years ago with a third party mouse on an Atari ST/STE basically when either using the mouse or not even touching it the pointer will move in either direction on it's own, especially annoying when you're trying to use it anyway recently i have found it again on a mouse and pulled out the below info i used before (see link) but this time around the mouse pointer still moves a little on it's own even after the mod (not as much but a little) this never seems to happen with original Atari mice only randon third party mice made by whoever can anyone enlighten me as to why this happens and what can be done to sort the problem if the below mod doesn't work? or maybe there is a better way to solve it? 7. as the title says really? i'd like to know if a UK PAL VCS will work in Europe on a TV? thanks
  8. hi all i recently acquired a small power computing external hard drive but the internal scsi drive has more bad sectors than good! anyway i have a Seagate ST31051N to replace it with but i can't get the atari to see it (using HD Driver 8 or ICD utilities) basically can someone advise me on the how the jumpers on the Seagate should be set? below is a link to the scsi board inside the power computing drive AdSCSI Micro ST (top of the page) http://www.icd.com/atari/index.html#adscsimicro if the Seagate can't be used i also have the following drives IBM H 3085-S1 IBM DSAS 3540 Quantum pro drive - again none of these can be seen by the atari J2 jumper block options on Seagate ST31051N: TP to bus TP from bus TP from drive Reserved Parity Disable Write Protect Motor start Enable Delay motor Start Term Enable please advise what should be jumpered "ON" and what should be left "OFF"
  9. hi all i have a couple of Atari STM 1 mice with no ball retaining plates as i think this was a common thing for them to get lost! anyway 1 is the round circular type with small ball and the other is the slide type with large ball i just need the plates the slide type there were 2 types, i need the one that has the 2 x tiny "lugs" that always snap off! (hence losing the plate!) yes you know the one! anyway if anyone has either of them i'd be interested thanks
  10. i bought one of these from ebay and it's quite nice, faster than the original atari mouse but only works on atari, not amiga switchable eBay Auction -- Item Number: 150477682838
  11. is this for use with a Philips cm 8833 mk 2 monitor or similar? what you using? STE or STFM
  12. as the title says really is there anyway a VCS can be connected to a new type flat screen TV that doesn't have an aerial (RF) socket thanks
  13. this seller on ebay has some interesting software at the mo and looks like it ends in a few days too one of them being a replacement desktop... eBay Auction -- Item Number: 150471263205 eBay Auction -- Item Number: 150471258993
  14. i have a few spare new DMA cables to connect your SH205 to 1040 £10 for the cable plus shipping to USA (i'm in the UK) i'll also include the atari hard drive software on a floppy for free if you want the cable PM me C
  15. hi all if anyone has a non working or just the metal / plastic top half of the casing from an external floppy drive i'd be interested don't need the floppy drive or 14 pin cable i just need the metal or plastic top part of the casing - any condition as long as it's not dented/damaged this is NOT for an SF354/314 but yes the usual slimline 3rd party external floppy drive let me know thanks
  16. yes it can be modded as i've just this very minute finsihed it! gonna fit the nice new drive tomorrow well pleased basically all you need to do it connect the correct wires from the old single plug to the 34 pin normal floppy type plug, i used an old atari ribbon floppy cable from a dead motherboard and connected the strands to the wires, or i guess you could connect the strands direct to the small PCB also and don't forget this! you need to swap the 12v and 5v wires for the floppy drive power plug on the PCB as they are in the opposite way for the original drive! in fact the plug won't fit a new drive so what i did was again from an old ST motherboard i took the floppy drive power cable and connected the 12v pin to the blue wire and 5v to red wire and the 2 x black wires to GND that's it! obviously the new drive needs to be set to DS 0 as if it was going into and ST and the (new) grey ribbon cable needs the notch facing downwards then it will work again....
  17. i need the small PCB board with the floppy ports/power switch on inside the external Atari branded SF 314 or 354 floppy drive i'm only after the type with the standard 34 pin floppy ribbon cable connection if anyone has one please let me know will pay costs

  19. hmmmm this is a difficult one me thinks i have an external SF 314 floppy drive which was a 720k double sided drive, (this particular model is the large centre button type drive) anyway the drive has died but looking at it it only has a single row of about 16 pins on the rear, not the usual 34 pin floppy drive connector this was normal on early ST's i believe as i've seen similar inside 360k single sided disk drive 520STFM's anyway how can i get around this drive issue? i can fit a new PC drive in the SF 314 case but how can i adapt/modify and work out! the interface prob?? any help apprecated on this i'm sure others have had the same problem at some stage
  20. it's easy look down the slot where the disk goes with a torch and if it has a head on the upside then it's double sided if it has a small round black felt pad then it's a single sided drive you will only find this with the large eject button type drives ALL small eject button type drives will be double sided
  21. the drive is most likely a normal 1.44MB and like A-N-Y floppy drive it will O-N-L-Y work as 720k in a standard Atari ST/STE as the atari's hardware can only see 720k without modification because back in the days of Atari 720k was the norm Falcon and Mega STE/TT support 1.44mb disks and can detect betweem 720k disks and 1.44mb (well the falcon can, possibly the mega ste needs a jumper pad soldering - i don't know, never owned one...) in fact any 1.44MB disk drive is backward compatible with 720k i'm guessing the seller has done the hard work of modding the drive so all you need do is fit it into your atari without the hassle of soldering jumpers etc
  22. hi all i have a 520STFM totally standard that works OK in high res black and white mode - good pic with sound BUT in LOW and MEDIUM res on a colour monitor (and TV) i get the below scrambled screen i can hear sound on the monitor but not very good on the TV i have changed the video shifter and small MC 1337 ic chip behind the TV modulator oh and yes the monitor is fine! my STFM test cart says the video shifter, MPF and timing are ok can anyone advise what to look at? thanks
  23. hi all and a happy new year to all fellow Atari people i have a Philips CM8833 monitor which has the scart lead connection at the rear anyway when i switch it on it just makes a high pitch whine noise, dark screen - nothing else - no power LED when i switch it off it takes a while for the whining noise to go as though it's an old hard drive spinning down! i'm guessing this is a flyback transformer problem or tube prob?? or maybe the power supply? (as no LED illuminates when switched on) if anyone can help then please do thanks
  24. hi people can anyone point me in the right direction or give me list of retro events in the UK that's also good for buying Atari ST hardware i don't mean things like Jagfest as that is too small BIG events with lot's of sellers where there is lot's of hardware available to buy
