Thanks. Assuming you mean the 5200 controller, I scrapped a surplus product that I picked up on the 'net. But, the exact same case is available from a place called "Pac-Tec" or "PacTec", I don't remember right now. If you can't find it, I'll look it up for you.
(If you mean the Vectrex controller, that's a hacked up NES controller. I don't recommend doing it that way. It's way too tedious, at least for me.)
I do think the 5200 controller is neat too, but I was referring to the Vectrex controller. I was curious how you managed to turn an NES controller into that? Did you actually cut sections out of one NES controller and glue them together into the new, 4-button controller?
You're exactly right. You can look at some of the pictures and see where the pieces were joined. If you look carefully at the recent picture of the painted unit, you can see where I didn't care enough to completely hide the joints.
If you're good at that sort of thing, it's probably not a bad way to go. I had only some crude tools and found it quite tedious. Also, I chose to put the buttons all in a line to match the "vibe" of the original Vectrex controller. I'd advise anyone else to stack the additional buttons on top of the original 2 instead of putting them beside. It feels like I'm going to have to slightly reposition my right hand if I need to jump back and forth between the 1st and 4th buttons. (I have no idea how often that would need to happen.)
I got the trimpots that I needed. Still need to mount them and drill access holes for them. I may get the final wiring done this weekend and throw a few coats of Plasti-Dip on the back side and be done with it. Unfortunately, nobody around here in interested in playing the Vectrex with me so I don't have to have a second controller and I prefer the analog controller, so it'll probably be a "display only" piece when I get done. All for the sake of creating, I guess.
I am always amazed at what you come up with.
