  1. just looking to help friend get all set up with the console of her dreams. she's very jealous of my colecovsion and I'm looking to buy or set up a sale for her of a console with the requisite power supply and cables. just the basic package. nothing fancy.  lmk!

  2. kind of a dumb question probably, but why does Gorf fit so poorly into the cartridge slot for Atari 5200 compared to other non-atari produced games? things like blueprint and decathlon and other cartridges of third-party production fit just fine, but my copy of Gorf is very difficult to fit into my system. is this common? is there any specific reason anyone knows of why this specific game doesn't fit correctly?  i can just barely wedge it into the system, but it makes it difficult to get it to work correctly much less even fit in there naturally

  3. wow I never played blue Lightning before, I thought I had but I don't think I did. I have to say, this game is incredibly boring. I'm laughing when I say that, but it's true. I'm going to try and put up a score that's respectable, but honestly I'm fighting boredom more than anything, this game is a little too slow to keep my attention, but I really appreciate the idea of the high score Club regardless

  4. quick summary, I have two GameCubes of varying age. both of them need to "warm up" before they'll play. I looked on other forums and I spotted people on Reddit claiming that When a GameCube will not play a disc immediately upon startup, and then will play the disc after a few minutes, it's probably due to needing recapping service.

I suppose my questions are two-----anyone know if this is true? and second question, anyone on this forum have any recommendations for anyone who does this kind of work? thanks!

  5. Looking to trade for something interesting, most likely for my Saturn collection, of hypothetically equal value.   Manual is in good condition and the longbox too.  I'd probably be able to get $30-40 on ebay quickly.

Open to ideas of what anyone might want to trade!  Otherwise i may sell it and just buy other items from my wishlist for saturn.

  6. Hey!  I went to use my Famicom last night and the socket seems to be failing on the AV out.

think this is a modded Famicom--forgive my shitty memory--it does have longer controller chords installed, and I think the AV wire socket was modded.  It uses a "headphone jack" port (1/8th?) to send sound and video out via RCA cables---i use one cable that goes from headphone jack >> yellow/red/white RCA composite.

If i push the headphone connector all the way in, the video scrambles and disappears, but i can hear the audio.  Sometimes, if i pull the chord "partway" out, i can get a full video/audio signal, but its not stable--if you move it the tiniest bit, it scrambles again.

I tried out different cables and it seems to have the same problem regardless.

Anyone do repairs for something (hopefully simple) like this, or have a recommendation?

    Thanks in advance!

  7. Looks like they go on ebay for more that $100 if the manual is included.  If anyone wants to do a sale on here and save me the ebay fees, i'd be happy to do it for $110 shipped.

The game plays perfectly.  Was just playing it last night to say goodbye.  The manual has minor folds and wear, as you can see the front cover has a fold marking, but it is intact and binding fine and no writing inside.

I'm just in a credit-card situation where i need to pay off some bills and reign in my spending for the moment, so liquidating a few valuable games is the best way to do it.

I am on ebay as a reliable trader, seller with 700+ positive feedback...  https://www.ebay.com/usr/unoclay1

I've never done a person to person sale on here, so im not sure how it works?  I'd like to use paypal "friends and family" to avoid the fees--but if you want to pay the additional fees we can do auction payment or whatever.

I'm gonna list it on ebay in a few days if nobody is interested here!

(random sidenote, im also letting go of a nearly complete--missing maybe 3 cards--Marvel trading card set from 1990.  If someone is randomly interested, lmk).

  8. Wanted to give a shoutout to @Ruggers Customs who gave me this tip---and it WORKS!

I thought i had a power supply problem.

I picked up a Coleco last year, and i suspected that the power supply was failing.   Often, as the system boots up, the Colecovision logo is washed out---like, the color isnt good, sort of drab-----i know the game is going to glitch.  However, If i get a vivid color Coleco logo--it works.

I often move the power brick/chord around a little to get best results.

TURNS OUT, as Ruggers informed me:

this tells me it's a bad connection at the rear of the console and the power supply plug itself.  It's either going to be dirty or the barrel connectors inside the plug are just streteched out and loose.  There's really not a whole lot that can be done to permanently fix that.  What you can do to make the situation better is take a folded piece of index card and wedge it between the plug inside the rear jack.  That should force it to make better contact and elimiate the issue.

I did exactly what he suggested---inserting a tiny piece of folded cardboard in the power socket to stabilize it------viola!  The system now powers on without any fails, after swapping games and even (gently) moving the system around!

Just wanted to share.  Thanks again Ruggers!

So, question--whats the best available replacement power?  I spotted one on Ebay--any others / thoughts /  recommendations?

    Thanks!

  10. I've been holding off for years, decades even.  It's one of the crown jewels of gaming.  For a long time i was thinking "when you get a better house or game room" but i just dunno if i can wait any longer.

I have the fondest memories of playing one as a kid at my friend Matt's house.  And i've been resisting the urge to buy one for years.

Interested to see what's out there....offers, prices, etc.  Welcome your input.  And thanks.
