  1. I think Zaxxon should be remade, but NOT like traditional Zaxxon... Keep the behind then ship perspective... Because to ME that IS Zaxxon... I loved Zaxxon 3-D on the Sega Master System... and the VCS port is the only game close to it.
  2. I never played Castlevania back in the day. I remember finding it funny that the AVGN hated Simons Quest so much After discovering these games through emulation in 98/99 , Simon's Quest was my favorite. Granted I never beat it and his video explained why! BUT... The controls were a bit fucked at times, but the password feature and the building yourself up over time... a sort of pseudo level-up system made it worth it to keep trying... Parts 1 and 3 just didn't do it for me.... It was like playing SMB but having to work like a cunt to get a Mushroom/Fire Flower; or like a shoot-em-up, in that if you died at a certain spot, you were NOT advancing any further NOW without the powerups you just lost because you died.
  3. I always wondered about these 'one off' trading cards... who would trade them. Typically trading cards are MASS produced and you buy random packs and then trade dupes... I'll never understand calling things like THESE trading cards. Cool? Yes! Something I'd trade? Unlikely!
  4. Do, or do not... There is no 'try'.
  5. Good Answer I remember emulating a few arcade games on my 486DX/66MHz with Retrocade (which had that AWESOME loading graphic) while still being unable to emulate VCS or Sega Genesis games at proper framerate. Just an example of wasted potential as far as I'm concerned. Because the Sega Genesis itself was TRYING to emulate such systems of old and failing miserably right out of the gate!!! I love you SEGA, because you madesome awesome arcade games... but why make such a pisspoor attempt at bringing them home??? *Edit: I had a few beers... not sure if this makes sense If it does.... cool If it doesn't... I'm drunk
  6. Indeed all you need... You got some GREAT titles there. Replace Pac-Man with Yar's Revenge and you'd really be set!
  7. Dude... that's WHY Jaguar fans are so adamant in their love for it... have you ever actually enhaled? I don't just mean puff in/puff out... I mean enhale. It's best if you enhale, do a shot of vodka, THEN exhale... trust me... I wisened up though... no more of that shit for ME. Let those jag-heads do what they want, I got a job and responsibilities and shit...
  8. I'll be damned... I thought I'd be the one weirdo to say something like "I vote for Sonic Shuffle".... but apparently very few like these games... I've just never played any... But so far we have so few responses (only 7), and together the consensus seems to be "...eh" Why the hell did these keep getting made, and why are copies so expensive?
  9. I know a played a Mario Party game once... It was on Gamecube... The board had a big Shy Guy on it... I think... So I vote for Sonic Shuffle... but that game has WAY too many load times and the CPU takes FOREVER to take it's turn... So I don't even vote for that one... Why did I respond to this topic? Because... ACCIDENT!!!... that's why. *EDIT: Dude... you have a looooong signature... it's like... longer than... i dunno... something really long...
  10. Long story short, I've downloaded many Sega Genesis emulators for the Dreamcast, including the newest version of GENS4ALL which, from what I've looked up, is the "best" Genesis emulator for the Dreamcast EVAR [sic]; but even THAT emulates games at such a slow framerate it's not even CLOSE to acceptable, despite what ANY review for it states. I know that unlike a PC I can't blame my "system" for the discrepency in MY experiences with it versus the average reviewer because (as far as I know) all Dreamcasts are the same. Why do SO many people tout this as being the ultimate Sega Genesis Emulator for the Dreamcast when it can't even play Last Battle at a decent framerate, and THAT is a SLOOOW game. Inversely, my biggest question; Why could the emulator embedded into Sega Smash Pack (while having TERRIBLE sound emulation and some MAJOR glitching during the later levels of VectorMan) play Sega Genesis games (SONIC No Less) at a PERFECT framerate? We're 15 years into the future since then, why can't there be any emulator for the Dreamcast that emulates the Sega Genesis as well as Sega Smash Pack did but with improved sound (and whatever caused Vectorman to glitch so bad.... but forget Vectorman... i don't even like that game that much...)
  11. Well, you obviously know better than the folks here, so, yeah... ask a question, get an answer, and then continue with your own thinking anyway... Although... just in case you DON'T know better... regarding Journey: Escape... If the game boots up abnormally by holding down the RESET button WHILE starting up the game, it doesn't mean the the GAME is damaged... it means YOU are screwing with the game while it starts up, you see, it wasn't INTENDED to be started up while the RESET button was held down. You can do that to Space Invaders as well... (and I mean ANY cart, not just a FEW select "defective" carts) and it will allow you to shoot a second shot before the first has gotten off screen. You can can get similar results from hammering on that that RESET button like it gave you orgasms and it will affect the way a LOT of carts boot up. It's been termed as "Frying".... but I'm sure I don't have to tell YOU that now do I?
  12. I remember that ad being in SO many Archie Digest comics back in the day.
  13. I think you guys are all selling HardWork short... I mean... with all the time he's had... he could make a VCS release that could rival the 32X with what it's capable of. This is a joke
  14. Is that true? I've also heard that Nintendo approaced Atari about distributing the Famicom in North America... wow...Jack Tramiel was... not very good at his job?
  15. To somehow get my collection to me. I recently moved 5,500km, and all I have is my Game Gear and Dreamcast. And in the case of my Dreamcase, I have all my games on spindles with the jewelcases left behind!
  16. I'm pretty sure they ALL have at least Snail Maze built in. That is, even if it shows the instruction screen about putting in a cartridge, just hold UP+1+2 while powering on the system and it will load Snail Maze. Aside from that you have models that have: Hang-On built in; Hang-On & Safari Hunt, Missile Defense 3-D, Alex Kidd In Miracle World, and even Sonic The Hedgehog! AK:MW and Sonic were only built into the rereleased Model 2 consoles, and THOSE do lack the Snail Maze game I believe, but I'm pretty sure ALL models 1s have Snail Maze.
  17. I had a light phaser with the same problem... I could compensate with my aims and still play... sort of... it made shooting around the edges of the screen a bitch though and shooting the Grenade and Life Bottle in Rambo III IMPOSSIBLE. I just junked it... one of these days I plan to get a new phaser... I don't blame the TV as it was a 90's model with a decent curve to it, not "Flat Screen" at all, no component hook-ups, nice and old... but that old Light Phaser HAD taken a beating since I had it!. Plus the TV works awesome with my Menacer so...
  18. Not quite as amazing, but my father owns a scrap yard and once found a Vader VCS in the trunk of a car someone dropped off... didn't work unfortunately, but it's the only Vader VCS I have so I keep it around for decoration!
  19. That's your badboy right there. Unless you plan on using a 6 Button Sega Genesis controller, this is your next best option. Use the 6 Button Sega pad (first party!) if you're of the the d-pad generation and can appreciate the best d-pad ever designed, or; Use the QUickshot... best joystick I've ever used... served me well during the 2600 and C64 days... just wish it had autofire... my budddy had THIS one which did... But it's got no button on the base!!! Otherwise, a pretty solid controller too!
  20. Wow, that VCS vid-lid thingy looks like the little droids that scoot around the floors of the Death Star!!!
  21. I have it on Game Gear... As a Columns/Tetris style game, it's very... boring... The Quest mode? Where you must beat AI oppenents in a 2-Player style game by rigging combos and droppng shit on them to hinder them seems like it COULD be fun, but I just can't get the rythm to string together good combos... maybe I just suck at it!!!
  22. My buddy had a Gemini, but I found it in his closet while we were knee-deep in the NES and Sega Genesis days so it never got played but it always made me wonder... The Joystick/Paddle was a good idea, no swapping necessary, BUT, generally, Atari Paddles plugged into a controller port 2 at a time.... for a total or four paddles... that is, TWO players only needed to plug ONE set of paddles into Port One... how did this work as far as being a VCS clone when it came to playing 3 or more players? Or rather, take a game like Jedi Arena, where two players shared one set of paddles in a strictly two player game...
  23. It's ALL interesting to me... especially the Swordquest stuff... as you should be able to tell my name and avatar! I've loved Swordquest since BEFORE it was en vogue to like stuff most people hated! Swordquest brought me to AtariAge... after finding yosemite-sam.net's swordquest stuff!!!
  24. I like SMS Double Dragon as well. Lots of childhood 2 player fun, and still single player fun these days.... racked up a wicked score one time beating everyone with mainly headbutts... The NES version IS a good game, but it's so different in so many ways, it should almost have a subtitle. And WHY did they even implement a 2 Players Taking Turns mode??? That's almost a bad joke... but the 2 Player Simultaneous Fighter Mode was sweet. If only you could pick different characters!
  25. I don't like the NES. And I will be analytical and rational. Growing up, I never had an NES, I got an Atari 2600 Jr for Xmas in '86!... but all my friends did. And all my friends had 5 or 6 games, maybe more... and only 1 game that was truley fun. At Melissa's house we always played SMB3, at Paul's we always played LOZ, and Colin's we always played Metroid... and so on like that. Many of my friend's parents quit buying them games when they realized that out of 5+ game purchases only 1 was getting any play or rather $300+ worth of games to find ONE they liked. And of course we often would rent games because we couldn't alwaysplay the SAME game, or as mentioned, the parents quit buying games once renting them became popular. AND EVERY time we rented a game it was russian roulette... maybe one in 10 games rented did we actually have fun with, other than that, we just played cause we had nothin else to play and we might as well enjoy SOMETHING different before it has to go back to the store. I would happily play my 2600 Jr. at home, and my friend Melissa's older brother had one (a sweet 6 switcher, made my Jr. look like a baby) and a ton of games, so we would often play that when we got tired of World 8 in SMB3 kicking our ass, or the latest rental was just TOO bad to play (I'm thinking of you Ghostbusters II!) Now, the 16 bit generation? To me (and my friends growing up) that was when gaming got really good. In 1990 my uncle gave me his old SMS and a few games, It was fun, but my Mom couldn't find games ANYWHERE for it, all she could find was Sega Genesis. So she got me a Sega Genesis, and very quickly most all of my other friends did (within 2 years) while some picked up a SNES, and that was fun too, but I still prefer Sega Genesis. That's my story and that's why I don't care for the NES and would probably agree it's the worst system I've played. I'VE PLAYED. Not ever existed or anything like that, but... that I've played.... that or the PS3, but I haven't played it enough to make a fair judgement, the fact it has no games I want to play though is very indictative of why I don't like it!
