    Over the last few years, I've come to realize that I don't actually like JRPGs, despite some of my favorite games being in said genre.

      It's a reconsideration from "I like JRPGs...except for _____, ____, or games like _____," to "I really only like about 5 games in this whole genre"--turns out I've pretty much hated 99% of them the whole time.

    Can anybody link me to how the heck crazy climber controls? I have a stick for it, but I'm garbage, and attract mode is zero help.

      It's really the side to side I have the most trouble with.  Sometimes it works great and I look halfway competent, but then sometimes the little guy just sits there because his arms are obviously in the wrong place.

      That video doesn't explain any of the rules about how movement works. Either everybody sucks at that game, or it's just hard to teach. ...wait.. @Crazy Climber Help?

    Finished refurb of odd twin-stick arcade controller today. Nope, still suck at crazy climber. 🙄

      Robotron on MiSTer, and Geometry Wars on Steam did real well, though.

    The PiTrex came in today. That sure seems to add a lot of gaming to vectrex. Wow.

    Saw Gary Numan a couple nights ago. Incredible show. No idea why he tours with Ministry, they were far less great.

      I liked Ministry when I was a teen. Filth Pig was the last I bought of theirs. Thing is, I've matured since I was 15, but Ministry is still loud, violent, juvenile noise. Gary Numan isn't any of that, yet he opens for them for some reason.

    Dune2 was a neat movie, and now nobody'd better ever complain that David Lynch changed too much of the story.

      Alia doesn't kill the baron, or even get born--that's the big one. But generally if it 'can' happen out of order, the movie does. I assume they cut fenrings from the end last minute and should have cut them entirely, the one bit left in was odd.

      Both had fun with the lack of specifics in the book, but I'd say 84 treated the story considerably better. Lynch, as always, added a bunch of 'weird for the sake of it' details. The new Dune2 weirdly disobeys story beats like 'who did this' and 'when/why did it happen' and shoots for a vaguely dune-themed story. I thought the 2021 half did better, but the signs were there too.

    Reversed course on a plan to chain HDMI switches--was stupid. Ended up setting up 2 quick-change stations w/ storage on current switch instead.

      Now my only permanent HDMIs are PC, Scaler, and MiSTer. The Switch Evercade, Analogues, etc store in a desktop mail sorter when not in use. Less clutter.

    Not sure why but been on an Atari buying spree lately. Unfortunately, the Epyx 500XJ I picked up turned out to be for the NES? I didn't even know they made them for NES.

      NES 500xj's are especially great paired with the NT Mini's 7800 core (7800 never got an xj), I did a vid on those once. There is also a Competition Pro for NES--Those are completely useless, the nes 500xj is only 'mostly useless'

    120hz gaming is freaking easy-mode. Why haven't I tried this sooner?

      Caverns of Mars recharged, my PB fell on the very first 120hz game, and kept falling until I'm well into the top 100. If I pull the hdmi switch out, I should be able to get 1080p @240hz too.

      I just had to spend like $10 on a real one. This one's for a hopeless a1up galaga/'88 countercade that clearanced for $50 a few years ago, and is just...bad.

    Just watched Blue Thunder (1982). I'm really enjoying discovering old movies I've never seen before, and this was a fun one.

      Upon further playthrough, it appears to be unwise to cross the post-apocalyptic frozen Sahara on foot. Not many HP left after that..

    With all this AI talk, the OTON console(s) aren't sounding as far fetched as they used to.

      OTON-guy's not getting us there, but I'm guessing somebody will. I'm really paying attention to this AI Dungeon Master work. Depending on its tolerance for random player shenanigans, that could be almost a procedural text/audio adventure already. It's not hard to imagine prompts going into the code free 'construction kits' after that

    I get my 3d shutterglasses out about every 5yrs, and it seems nvidia removed support for them years ago. I'm not doing old drivers.

    Working on SD cards for my Modded Dreamcast.  And...having trouble paring it down to TWO 32 gb cards (the max size that GD EMU will accept).  So. Many. Great. Games.  Soul Calibur, Speed Devils, Armada, Silent Scope, Project Justice, Power Stone, Space Channel 5.  Just 7 of the 50 I had to narrow down to.  Just crazy.  Oh, and just in case anyone asks, yeah, I have and purchased all my games too.  DC nut. :)
