  2. Hi I was not trying to Spam anything. I was just trying to get help with this subject. Sorry if I caused any problems of any sort. As I said in the other thread I was not going to make anymore post. I have not been on that thread at all since then. I have already apologized and really meant it. Thanks
  3. Thank you I was just trying to get the correct board in the case since my dad had two boards and one of them is the correct one for the serial number 00517 ep 264. At this point they are both very early boards and it may not make much difference which one goes into it. They were both the earliest boards ever released for the atari 7800 system thanks
  4. My post were moved. and some even removed as well Thanks
  5. To everyone I see my post appeared back up on the Thread but I am still leaving still since it had been remove at some point. I am sorry to all that may have been angry. I hope what information I did post was helpful on the Maria Chip. Thank you for the ones who did help me. If anyone has information on my dad mother boards Please PM me so we do not tie up this thread. Bye For now.
  6. Hi I see you choose the number after the V for your date. The date code is the first three digits. I will show you why it is now. you will see on my First chip it has 405 V 1840 If I went with the 1840 then My chip would have been made in the 18th week 1940. The 405 States first number is the year 1984 and the last 2 numbers are the week. We are looking at a chip made in 1984 and week 5 th. If we take the first 3 numbers on your Maria Chip 423 then Your Maria chip was made in 1984 of the 23rd week. Also the Maria Chip did not go in to production till 1984 only proto types were made before 1984.. Take a look at my chip and you will see that the 1840 could never be a date. The second chip I have is dated 422 on it that dates it from 1984 in the 22nd week The numbers that change after the letter V , I have been trying to figure out what those actually stand for. VTI dated their Chips a little different . Hitachi did a different date code on the RAM chips as well. they would have date codes like 3K1 or a 3M1. First number was the year then the letter was the month and last digit was the week. Anyways no Maria Chips were mass produced in 1983. Atari waited till 1984 to start this process. Ok Well I will be done with this part since this is not the correct thread for this, but I do hope this did help out some. Also this is Curt thread on his device ,so I will be done with this so we get back on the correct subject. I also want to point out the other person Maria chip with the 809. That chip dates from 1988 in the 9th week. Thanks
  7. Hi everyone I went back and change my Birth year on my profile. I saw alot of people went and checked and it was incorrect. It is correct now. Thanks
  8. Ok I notice a small difference in boards. The one that is populated with chips on it seems to be coated in clear epoxy. The other board does not have the appoxy but it does have the word OAK stamped on it. take a look. The un populated board say OAK on it and lacks the clear epoxy. I only posted this here since I know there is a lot of people that know a lot about the Atari 7800 on this thread. Please look at this photo. Any help will be appreciated. Well this may help also.
  9. Ok Now I am posting pictures of the bottoms of the mother boards. First picture will have an earlier date and the second picture has a date of 1 week later. The question between all the photos I have posted which one is the correct one for the serial number 000517 EP264. The one missing the chips I can fill it since my father stored many 1984 chips back then for the 7800 console. I actually have a Maria chip with the date code of 1984 in the 5th week. As well all other chips around the same period. All the RAM Chips I have for the 7800 date from 1983. Anyways take a look at these photos. Ok one of these boards is the correct one to go into the early 7800 and I want to make sure the correct board is in it. I really need experts who know the 7800 inside out to help me. there is date codes also on the joy stick ports. I have only posted this up here since Curt has been helping me also. I just want this right since this is a very low serial number in the EP series. I also know the 7800 even low serial numbers do not sell for a lot of money. I just want this correct since it was my fathers. When he did work for them under contractors. He was an electronic Engineer. I want this correct so when I can get Curts module that I can use my dad 7800 with it. My dad brought this home with no box, so what would the correct box have this came in if it had sold in 1984 ? My dad brought it home from work, so no box ever existed for this console. I want a box for it from 1984. Thanks
  10. Ok I am bring this up to everyone on this thread. My Dad many years ago stored all his Atari parts in tubs of boxes. My dad Atari 7800 with the serial number 000517 EP 264 has a board in it but I am not sure if he has the correct board in it because I found an another board of his. I am going to post pitures of both if you look on one of them you will see a stamp of 264 on the RF module even though on the side of the RF module is has a sticker with 8418 date code. What I notice on that board the traces are smooth while on the board he has in it looks like foil traces. you will see this. There is a stamped on the other RF module ,but I cannot tell what it is. I just want the correct mother board in my dad unit one of these two is the correct one. I will post additional pics of the back sides as well Thanks
  11. Hi everyone I am sorry I did not post pictures of a power supply use on my unit with the serial number 000517 EP264 anyways here they are. You will see date code of 2284 on one side. On the other side you will see SA 0002 along with the date code of 2284 again. This very early before the sale of the 7800 in June of 1984. Thanks
  12. Hi Everyone This is the Very first power adapters used on the EP units. Mine being serial number 000517 EP 264 Here is the power adapter with it. You will notice the very early date code of 2284 also look on the back side of the SA 0002 along also with the date code Thanks
  13. Hi Curt I have been trying to write you back as you ask but it saying you cannot take messages right now. What is going on. Please let me know what has happen since we were talking. Thanks Im out of here and let you all have your thread back Good By
  14. Wow I did not there was a lot of us up here on this thread in our 50s
  15. Well I have you all beat, but I know you went and look When I joined earlier and my birthday is posted there. So you all are all young compared to me. Like this is something to be really happy about. Im just getting old. I still like talking to you all since being in this hobby makes me feel young. I miss some of the guys who were up here when I was a lot younger. They were 50 and 60 then . They would be in their 70s and possibly near 80s now. Some of these guys did amazing things and were a lot of help to me after my wife passed away in a car wreck. Well then some of us can remember small parts of the 1960s, While others remember the early 1970s. One thing I can say when the Atari VCS came out it really was a nice change to playing so many variations of pong machines. Pinball was the big thing but probably most of us were told to go outside and play. Then come in before the sun goes down. Anyone remember those days ?
  16. What thread is that? thanks
  17. Hi tep392 I was mainly on the 8 bit computers. I like the Atari 800 computers and I also had the Atari 400 as well. I had set up also the Atari 130XE computer. Anyways non of them are set up now but back then I was in to the programing thing. Also I like the Atari 2600 alot but really more for the history of it. Anyways Just trying to get the real story on the 7800 since so much was thrown at me back then. I am talking about in 1984 and with trying to get out of school and move on to college. Then on top of that we ended up moving from the West cost to the east cost. There was a lot of new adjustments for in life itself. As you can see I would have not been paying much attention to what was going on with the 7800. I just knew my dad was not happy and came home and said he had a new job on the east cost and quit. Anyways I was tied up with school and now packing everything for a move. My dad talked about the Atari 7800 and I thought he had said something about a shipment of them before the new management came in. Yes the new management stop all shipments but the old management had time to ship things out before the new guys came in. This is what I was understanding at the time from my dad. I could be 100% wrong but from my understanding that consumers were being told after buying the Atari 7800 there would be no more they could get for it. Since the Atari 7800 was basically cancelled. Remember no one knew it was going to ever back around in 1986 especially in 1984. My question was why were consumers being told this in 1984 if they did not already have the console at hand. See these are questions I want answered. My mom and dad would talk about this stuff over the dinner table and it just made my dad more angry everytime he thought about it. Anyways I am not this Peterym5 guy but I am a person with alot of questions now . I really wish back then I had got more of the story from my dad. Just know it was a very touchy topic in our home. This whole thing change my life. I ended up graduating on the east cost from high school and end up going to an east cost college. I did like the east cost very much and ended up loving it there. The change was very good. Well I am not going to go on for ever. Again Alot was going on and I am not even sure if any 7800s shipped out in 1984 but from what I did pick up from my dad. It made me to believe at least one shipment did get out before new management came in and took the company over. After that it was history my dad started looking for work other places. Not a fun time when your dad comes home mad almost every night from work. Anyways I do not want to get in to that over the internet. I am sorry if I anger anyone over this. I am not sure of everything that happen back then but now I sure wish I had paid more attention to it. Well I will leave this thread back up to you guys and return back to the ones I use to get on. Thanks for all your helpful information on the module. By the Way is there anyone on Atari age anymore in their 50s++ and 60s. My generation. I am just Asking since you would have to be this old to Remember Atari Pong when it first came out. By the time Atari 2600 came out everyone on my block thought it was so cool in 1977. Remember before this we had nothing and were told to go outside and play and come in at dark. Most kids of our generation were told this since there were no Video games at all. ( not even Arcades) If you like pinball machines you had that. Anyways we did other things. Now I am dating myself. I was not that young when I graduated high school like most people. Let just say I goof off a lot and should have done better. Good Bye.
  18. Who is Peteym! or what does this mean? I been on this forum 13 years and mainly dealt with the Atari 2600 and 8 bit computers. I am just now really trying to find out things my dad told me back in the 1970s and 1980s. Sorry that not my name or if it means something else. Anyways thanks to everyone who help out with letting me know about the pre order list back in 2010. Here is my dad Atari 7800. I took pics of it of the outside and insides. Out side pics with serial number tag. Tried placing the Link to it and this comes up. pictures of the insides of it. Not sure why this is coming up and just not the address line. Anyways sorry if I offended anyone Just wanted to know about the Module and maybe some history to fill in the gaps on my dad things. My question was answered so thank you very much. I will leave this thread back to you guys and go back to the ones I am usually on. Thanks
  19. Oh ok. Well I hope I can get one. I was not all that young when the Atari 7800 came out in 1984. I know people say they did not sell any in 1984 but from what I understand they did. They just did not sell that many since the project was shut down. Actually it was Atari did not ship that many units out before the change in Management. I started college in 1985 ,so that give you an ideal how old I was at the time. Thanks
  20. Hi Everyone How do I get a pre order for this XM module. I want to get one. I have early Atari 7800 with serial number 000517 EP-264. I am guessing it will still work with it. My Dad brought it home in his days when working with Atari. That did not last long and is a whole different story since he quit in late 1984 and we moved to the east cost and my dad work as a Electronic Engineer under contracts.*mil I have a lot of other cool Atari things from the past that he brought home when I was a kid and by the time the Atari 7800 came out in 1984 I was near my graduating year of high school. Dad was an electronic Engineer under contracting. This Sounds so cool. Thanks
  21. Hi Everyone I have several different 1984 chips for the Atari 7800. My dad brought chips home and they were for the Atari 7800. I think I even still have Atari 2600 VCS chips from 1977 and 1978 he brought home. Anyways here is a spare RAM chip from 1984 for the Atari 7800. Date code on it is 8408. The only 8th week in 1984 way before the 7800 was even release in 1984 . Even way before May when the announcement came out for the Atari 7800 and you will see the Atari Chip coding on the Chips. They always start out with C0. Anyways Enjoy Thanks
  22. Very Cool A lot could be done with that if you could address each drive from Drive A to H. This way each drive could stand alone from each other. Still very cool. I love those type of drives since they were the first drives for the Atari 800 Thanks
  23. Hi Everyone I am going to post pictures of my real early Console mother board. This is it Serial number 000517 EP-264 The Ram Chip is what gets me. They are Hitachi type chips with Date code 3K1 and 3M1. I look this up the letter K stood for October and the letter M stood for December. That would work out to be 1983 in October in the 1st week and 1983 in December 1st week. Does anyone know if Atari used Hitachi Chips in the RAM in the Atari 7800. I have spare memory chips my dad had around the house and they have Date code of 8408 on them. They also have Atari numbers on them as well. CO22090-003. The Chips were also made by Motorola. ( these are the spare chips , RAM chip for the 7800) They also say MCM6116P15 on them. Anyways I am hoping those Hitachi Chips are early ones that Atari started out with in the 7800 console. Since the Serial number is 000517 EP-268 Well take a look at the pictures and let me know what you think. The Ram chips are in the first pic. The first 2 chips in the left hand side of the picture are the RAM chips. As you can see there is no Atari Chip code numbers on them The CO followed by a number is Atari number and you will see that on other chips. Thanks
  24. Hi Everyone I do know that Atari only had from June to July to ship any Atari 7800 systems in 1984. Then all other Atari 7800 that were made in 1984 were shelved. In 1986 they were taken off the shelves and sold then. Also new ones were produced when those ran out. I know not a lot of Atari 7800 system could be sold in one month. My dad left working for Atari in late 1984 after finding out about everything that had taken place. We ended up moving from the West coast to the East coast.. I have always wonder if the only units to actually be sold in 1984 were the EP units. Then the AT84 were all shelved due to the program for the 7800 was shut down till 1986. The AT units were assembled in Taipei City,Tiawan . The EP unit were assembled in El Paso, Texas. I know my dad said they were told to shelve all the 7800 and there was a lot of disagreements in the company. My dad got tired of it and gave his notice to quit. I never ask him later anything about them due to this was a very sensitive subject with him. I now just wonder if it was possible that if any AT84 units slip out during the sales in June to July of 1984. Everything after July 1984 was stopped and shelved from what I was told by my dad and it made him very angry. I am guessing that there was still Atari 7800s on the floors in stores in August of 1984 ,but the stores were not getting any more new shipments of the Atari 7800 console after the Month of July of 1984. I have not seen any pictures of any 7800 on this thread earlier than the one I have. I would love to have an earlier one but I am very happy with the one in my collection. I really doubt that I can find an older one but will at least keep looking for one.
