  1. I know this is supposed to be a negative review, but it actually makes me want to play the game. Taking on a a bear with your hands sounds pretty awesome to me.
  2. bought some games from johnnya, came super quick and packed very well.

    Game bits

It seems that most games/consoles that use the security bits use either a 3.8mm or a 4.5mm bit. Are there any other sizes of the inverted torx that I could potentially run into, or if I buy those 2 bits am I set for everything?
  4. All this talk about little used periphals is making me want to break out my Steel Battalion controller.
  5. if I've learned anything from G4, they'll probably re-show it every 3 hours for the next 2 weeks.
  6. I have always looked at used games as a blessing. Games that would have cost $50 new back when I was in middleschool or highschool and had $0 income can now be had for a mere $6-10. Rather than sitting in the closet or attic of a player that has little interest in them, being resold as used gives the game a "1up" in the hands of a collector or coneseur. Gamestop (in particular), is notorious for underpaying those trading in their games.I personally don't sell my games back at all: I see them as a collection. I am gracious that others, who have no spot in their heart for replay value, or those that do, but can't afford to keep them offer me a chance to add their games to my collection. The problem I have is not with those who trade in their games, it is with the middle-man. While replay value and collectability may be lost on some, that doesn't always mean their games are in bad shape, and as a collector, I'd like my games to be in as good of shape as they can possibly be. Bringing home a bag of used games the other day I took notice of Gamestop's blatant vandalism of otherwise good games. In the past their stickers and barcodes were placed on the outside of the game's case, which if necessary, was the easiest replaced part. The stickers of the games I brought home were placed on the card-insert on the outside of the packaging: making an attempt to remove them riddled with danger of damaging a part of the game. Some of you are probably not bothered by this, as it's "just the case", and I don't mean to sound spoiled or anything, but the bright yellow gamestop barcodes, or ripped up cases are eyesores. Granted, some games don't even come with the original case, but they don't have to extend a slap in the face to those of us that actually bother to keep our games in good condition. Just a little rant to clear my head. Feel free to add your two cents.
  7. While you're entitled to your opinion, I do think some of your arguments are a bit lacking... "looks too CG-ish?" of course it does. It's a video game. It, by definition is graphics generated by a computer. You want realism? punch a hole through the wall where your TV is and look outside, or go drive a car, or join the army. In this case how did games like Super Mario brothers get popular? Did nintendo really provide a realistic looking game of an italian plumber adventuring through the mushroom kingdom? Oh well, not everyone has the same tastes. just my .02
  8. This is kind of along the same vein as the "worst game you ever played" thread but I figured I'd mix it up a little. So name some games that by all other accounts should be terrible, except that you find yourself playing and enjoying. My personal entry into this category is Ninja Gaiden for the NES. The controls can be unresponsive at times, the programming of the enemy respawns is absolutely terrible, and there are certain sections of difficulty (especially the birds/bats/eagles/swooping down enemies) that can drive me mad. However, when I want to sit down and take some time to play an old platformer, I find myself reaching for either SMB or Ninja Gaiden.
  9. There were a ton of yard sales in my area this weekend. I kinda did the "drive by slowly to check out if anything is worth stopping for" move, but spotted no games. very disappointing. do you guys that regularly purchase from yard sales do the same, or do you stop and ask?
  10. The only 2 times I was ID'd for buying games was when I picked up RE: Code Veronica for the DC (I was underaged but my dad was with me and told them it was alright), and GTA: San Andreas (at which time I had proper ID)... Coincidentally, each instance was at a different Toys'r'us. It seems they have a handle on things, but i have my own opinions. This is a good (and recent) article about game rating laws: http://arstechnica.com/news.ars/post/20080...me-ratings.html for those not wanting to read the whole thing it can be boiled down to these two paragraphs: "In the gaming world, we can see the same conflict in how different games are rated. Halo 3 was given a Mature rating, and the ESRB added "Blood and Gore, Mild Language, Violence" as the content descriptors. Now, Condemned 2 is also rated Mature, for "Blood and Gore, Intense Violence, Strong Language, Use of Drugs and Alcohol." One of these games is hardly disturbing: the violence and "gore" in Halo is mostly alien in nature, and the weapons are mostly futuristic and sci-fi in look and feel. It's an exciting game, but not an intense one, the violence and questionable content is more in tune with something like Star Wars than anything else. Condemned 2, on the other hand, shows you beating bums to death with lead pipes while drinking found bottles of bourbon to keep your alcoholism-related shakes to a minimum. You also see ritualistic murder, and your nose is shoved in a very terrifying underworld of madness. But it shares the same rating with Halo 3, along with many of the same descriptors. Parents thinking that since their children plays the M-rated Halo 3 could be in for a shock when picking up games like Condemned. "
  11. The worst game I've ever played is Super Mario Brothers 2. I never had it as a kid, just 1 & 3, so in my mid/late teenage years when my interest in older games developed I picked up a copy of SMB2. I popped it in, expecting some flat out, goombah stompin', princess rescuin' action, and instead I was throwing friggin turnups at a giant mouse. worst. game. ever.
  12. I would have to say Super Mario Bros. by far is my favorite... SMB2 is actually one of my least favorite games ever.
  13. I have this problem with my N64 where all the games seem to fit only loosely into the cartridge slot. I can usually get the game going after a few times of taking the cart out and putting it back in, but it's kind of annoying when I just want to fire up a game and play. Are there any easy resolutions to this, or will it require a replacement of the cartridge slot?
  14. RE2 was the game that first got me into the series, but RE4 is the game that's making me want to go back and play them all again
  15. I've spent days playing Ninja Gaiden, only to reach the final boss and get my butt kicked repeatedly... I generally don't curse frequently, but when my girlfriend hears the vulgarities flying she knows that I'm trying to get past those damn birds/bats/ninjas with jetpacks and shuriken...
