    5200 Jr

No problem, I just zapped your other post. I wish I had the extra $$$ for that 5100, but I'm in the middle of buying a huge 5200 prototype lot right now (no new games, but alot of unreleased ones). Tempest Are there really any more undiscovered 5200 prototypes? I doubt it. I think if anybody is going to have any it would be the guys at Digital Press and I think after a bit they would have released them by now. Besides, I know you would have gotten them drunk by now and learned all their secrets. Not to jump off topic but when are we going to see a pic of the 5200 Asteriods controller? (Question not really directed at you Tempest because I know you don't have it.) I heard it was shown at I think the 99 CGexpo but I've yet to see a picture of it. Allan
  3. Well, if that's the case than I opologize to Tom. I'm still not happy about the losing $30. Allan
  4. Mike isn't the only one who ordered something from Tom Cosby, Jr. and never received the item. I ordered two controllers for $30 from him in May and only recieved a couple of emails saying that he would get them out ASAP. Well I wanted to post here telling everybody about him but I figured I would be a nice guy and keep waiting. I'm done waiting!! When I heard that he was at the CGexpo selling things, that really pissed me off. Instead of taking the time to ship orders (or at least return the money) he was there making more money. As much as you might want to take his side because of him having some tough times and not intentionally ripping people off, I have to say that I think it was pretty lousy of him to be selling stuff to other people while he already had the money from others for the same stuff. If your going to sell something or offer a service, you don't spend the money on yourself and then later hope you have enough money to buy the parts for the thing you are selling. That is not honest. It's also a poor way to run a business no matter how small. You keep the money in a seperate place until you ship the item or come through with the service, then you take the money for yourself. Unfortunately I doubt we will see our money. On a better note I want to thank all you honest people at AtariAge.com. A very nice little community that is never spoiled by an occasional bad apple. 5. I don't know how much you know about the 5200/8-bit hardware but before you start programming you really need to get familair with the way the 5200 does things. Like how the Antic, Pokey, and GTIA chips work and how the player/missile graphics work, etc. If you haven't read it yet, read DeReAtari and Compute's Mapping the Atari. Everything you need is over at www.atariarchives.org and www.atarimagazines.com. You might want to do a search on www.atarimagazines.com for keywords like Player-missile graphics,Display Lists, etc. There were a lot of great tutorials on all types of 5200/8-bit programming. Well, it was really for the 8-bit computers but the 5200 is basicly the same. If you haven't already you can look at Calamari's site for a couple of articles on the differences between the two. Allan
  6. Do you mean in 5200BAS? If yes then it is a two step process. You have to convert the basic file into assembly language and then you have to convert the assembly language to machine language. If you are not talking about 5200BAS than you can't do what your saying. If you are using 5200BAS refere to Calimari's site for more details. http://www.azstarnet.com/~jeffryj/5200bas.html Allan
  7. Well, I guess you did mean 5200BAS. So you just want a small quick run-through tutorial like: HELLO: print "Hello World" goto HELLO Allan

  10. Hey Hank, I think Best Electronics has Quest for Quintana Roo for the 5200. Allan
  11. I was just thinking about Bounty Bob for the 5200 and how great it would be to be able to play it without spending $200 for one on ebay. I wonder if it could be hacked and maybe split up into two regular carts. If the bank-switching just splits up the screens, half on the first bank and the other half on the second bank, you could in theory hack the game and split it into two seperate games. Any thoughts on this? Does anybody know how many screens there are in Bounty Bob? Allan
  12. http://www.emulation.net/index.html There are a lot of great emulators for the Mac. The only systems that doesn't have a great emulator for the Macs are the Atari 8-bit/5200. ;( There are some good attempts but nothing that was ever complete. Rainbow and Wacke were both abandoned. The others are good but not as good as some of the other console/computer emulators. The Commodore 64 emulator Power64 is fantastic. Allan
  13. I noticed that because the creators of the new 5200 games that came out at the 2002 CGexpo where selling them right after the show on ebay, nobody could get a high price for any of them. Maybe that's the answer. If the creators of any new Atari game puts them on ebay right after a show and says they are the actual creators of the game than no will bother paying $100 for a game they can get for $30. Eventually these people trying to make a quick buck will give up just like they did on the new 5200 games. Allan

  15. Yellow submarine I believe is just a demo of what the 5200 can do. I don't think the person who wrote it had any intention of putting it in a game. At least there is no evidence of a planned Yellow Submarine game. Barroom Baseball was a modified version of Realsports baseball to be used in a coin-op machine for bars/arcades. I think there is some more info on this at www.atari-History.com . The game is of course limited in time and I think by how many quarters you put in. http://www.atari-History.com/archives/5200bartop.pdf Allan
  16. As far as what 7800 games I'd prefere, It doesn't really matter. So I guess who ever can give me any 6 of the games I listed above, I will give them the stick. Just in case anybody doesn't know about the Wico sticks, you need an additional cable in which I don't have as you can see (or not see) in the above picture I posted. Sorry. Allan
  17. Cool! Can I use one of those shots for my Atari On Film article? http://www.ataritimes.com/features/fea_atarifilms.html (BTW, if anyone can get me other screenshots of Atari stuff in movies, I'd like them!)[/url] Sure, go ahead and use them. I'll see what other movies I have that you don't have picks for and I'll try to get some shots for you. Allan
  18. Hey, that's cool. I never knew anyone ever even attempted to program Cloak & Dagger on the 8-bit. Who's the programmer? Allan
  19. Cool! Now we just need the game! Allan
  20. Here's the next one. Allan
  21. Here's an unofficial conte....I mean.....challenge! Sorry, no prizes other than the pride of knowing you did. OK, The challenge is for all you Photoshop experts out there.
