  1. Just bought my girlfriend a new laptop and she wonders why I don't buy myself a new one as opposed to spending the same amount on vintage Atari..

Sounds like you are making wise decisions to me.

  2. Good friend of mine bought a Porsche 928 S4 yesterday and was kind enough to let me drive it today when he brought it over to show off. Damn, I love older German cars.

    1. Turbo-Torch

      Turbo-Torch

Did it come with service records and did he have a ppi done by a 928 specialist?  If not, some things needs to be checked asap.  Engine is interference...regular timing belt, water pump and tensioner replacement is critical.  All rubber fuel lines need to be replaced...it WILL eventually catch fire if they are original.  Original high pressure power steering hose is also a fire hazard.  If automatic, thrust bearing end play needs to be checked and tension off the torque tube needs to be released by loosening a clamp.  It's an engineering design flaw that allows the torque tube to creep forward and put pressure on the flex plate and thrust bearing.  If driven long enough, internal engine boring starts and you won't know the damage is happening until the engine is completely destroyed.  That area is easy to access and check during oil changes and improved aftermarket clamps exist.

Being a member of Rennlist forms is a must for 928 owners.

The Porsche 928 is one car I would like to own. Truth be told, I would mind riding along with you.

@Turbo-Torch It's a Canadian-market car he bought from the second owner, who is best friends with the original owner. Always dealer maintained. My friend is a long-time Porsche enthusiast and owner who knows what he's doing. It's a sweet ride, despite being an automatic ?

@classicgamer74 That worked well for me when I adopted another cat from a shelter 8 years ago. She's no longer with us, unfortunately... These two are street cats (young ferals) that I'm concerned about fleas, eye infections, FIV etc.. they need to be isolated and taken to the vet before interaction with our boys.

...and it seems a third older tabby has joined the group. We think it might be their mother. All three have come around every day and gotten close to us. Wish I had a big enough house (and bank account) for five cats.

I don't know what would be my second favourite.  I preferred Frontline Assembly to Front242 back then, although I still liked both but I don't listen to much of either anymore.  Mellowed in my old age and prefer something a bit more poppy from VNV Nation or Assemblage 23.

@S1500: if the price and condition were right, and you lived close enough I'd feel confident driving it home, we might make this work.
