  1. Yeah, the labels do look to be in kinda rough shape. Some missing and a lot peeled. I still don't think I've seen games go for less than ~$1 each, so my opinion is it's an average deal. I probably should have just sought out a 2600 Jr only and gotten the Harmony cart which is what I plan to do eventually anyways!
  2. Hey all- Pretty new posting here but have lurked these forums for years. My retro gaming kick has amped up the last couple of weeks and I got to thinking how much I wanted to get an Atari 2600 to go along with the roughly 60 games I've snatched up over the last couple of years. I've bought games, but haven't had a system since I was a kid. Born in 1981, my first video game system ever was a used Atari Jr., which us kids played for some years before getting a Nintendo. A very long time ago my mom sold that Atari and the few games that were with it. So for both gaming and nostalgia reasons, I wanted to get an Atari 2600 Jr. model. Last night, probably after a few too many beverages I pulled the trigger on this: https://www.ebay.com/itm/283350447801 $134 shipped. I know it's a lot of common games. Being very much a novice to 2600 games and value, I spot checked a good many in the rarity guide and most are ranked 2 or 3, with maybe a couple 4s. Given they are all pretty much commons, do you think it was a decent deal? I know there are some dupes too. Based on "sold" prices, I'd say the console values around $50 with the controllers. I guess that means I paid about $1 per game. It's not clear, but I assume it includes the Flashback console and 2 of the 4 controllers are Flashback ones. What do you all think?
  3. Hi there, did you find a solution? I'm in the same situation. USB B and Gamecube (the Wii Cyberbike is actually just a gamecube controller) both have 4 pins. I'm betting it's just getting the pins right. Instead of cutting a controller you could cut a gamecube extension cord instead. Do the same with a USB B to whatever cable. I'm just going to do that and then twist cables together. I'd be surprised if there's enough voltage to do any damage to anything, but that I can't be sure of. If you beat me to it or have tried already please let me know.
  4. (Using my best Beavis impersonation...) He he he he he... yeh yeh... and she's looking at his lance... he he he he he... Is it me or does this girl seem just alright? I mean, a little flabby, chunky, you know. Then there's the pay to be a member area. WTF
  5. You have a right to feel that way, and I can respect that opinion. But, if this thing is legit and there's a Lynx collector (or collector of various systems) who doesn't have it and doesn't care about it's functionality, they may be very interested. I just feel it's a bit much to be calling something a turd just because it's non-functioning and missing a few pieces. It's a turd if you're looking strictly to play it, but from a collector's standpoint it may be a nice piece to have.
  6. Some of the people in this thread have been kinda rude to the OP. I think it's pretty cool you posted this as I'd never seen nor heard of a gold lynx. I'll ask some of the other people in this thread, if you found a non-working gold Nintendo World Championships cart is that a "turd" or worthless too? How about a 1908 Model T Ford that doesn't run and is missing a door? A turd? Worthless? Extreme examples I know but I think the point is valid.
  7. I'm not sure what linking to old reviews of the book has anything to do with whether or not the site is still up. But I found the book to be pretty good for a 1st edition. Yes it has errors and omissions, but so does every other guide (including the DP guide). It's almost impossible not to... One thing I liked about the VGB is that it had little blurbs about almost every game, not just a select few. To me that made it a more interesting read. Tempest Appears I misunderstood some things. Looking at the dates I realize that the OP was wondering if a new updated book/site was being released, not referring to the initial release of which I linked. My bad for the confusion.
  8. To answer your question: http://www.amazon.com/Video-Game-Bible-198...6862&sr=8-1 A few not too fond reviews.
  9. Thanks for the great review. Other than the size/convenience factor though, is there any other reason to use these clone systems for SNES games? With the regular availability of the SNES at reasonable prices, I just don't see why anyone would want to use a clone system, except for when space is severely limited. I understand these systems for NES use however, considering the PITA getting games to run on the traditional, non-topload nes. I just don't see how anybody would rather use one of these for SNES over the real thing. That said, thanks once again for the great review.
