  1. Probably done by Byte Knight. I imagine you have to exit the front end and check it on Linux?
  2. Is there an easy way to see what is the jzintv version installed? BTW I don't have one, asking for a friend 🙂 Thanks
  3. Thank you for the guidance, I will give it a shot! I was about to ask you next how to enter ECS keystrokes in Jzintv, but I just found it. 🙂 In case anyone else is interested...
  4. Thanks, this is helpful. I wouldn’t mind invoking the asm, just need to understand where the output of each key stroke will be stored and how to interpret it.
  5. Are there any examples of how to read the ECS keyboard in Intybasic? Thank you
  6. If you are looking to get it published my suggestion is to finish your PC demo, then run it by Intellivision publishers to see the level of interest. If there is interest from them, a programmer is more likely to show up Now if you don’t care to get it published then you might as well get your feet wet like it’s been suggested.
  7. I believe the largest so far is Bad Apple with 218K words.
  8. Given this version was allegedly 🙂 coded from scratch (unlike the CV one), and also given the way the Intellivision controller handles, gameplay should feel very close but not an exact replica. On the other hand, no choppiness in scrolling.
  9. Same levels as MSX / SG-1000 version. Only 19 levels were implemented because of lack of space on the cartridge... allegedly 🙂
  10. More than just adding charm, my experience with trying to fix flaws in some games is that you can actually break those games. I found 2 recent examples in which fixing flaws would unreasonably increase or decrease difficulty. So I left those alone. Some games are flawed gems, but still gems Now, when it comes to known exploits... that's a tough one 🙂
  11. That is always an interesting question when porting a game, whether to replicate original flaws or not. The answer is not obvious.
  12. I can see why! Really curious. It would be cool if that was the CRC checksum of their phone number or email for contact 🙂
  13. Current AI is far, far away from sentience. However, when it comes to imitating sentience, it is getting better and better.
  14. Idea for the binary was just to indicate the degree of the 'implosion' he was having. At his core, as fancy as he was, he was still just a machine operating based on 1s and 0s. Which kind of correlates with how I see AI in general: in spite of the hype, it is still based on fundamentals. No specific meaning to the binary.
  15. I agree. I haven't played this Gorf port, but I can't believe it is harder than Rick Dynamite.
  16. This came to mind because a couple of my current projects turn the keypad into a flip phone style keyboard for alphanumeric entry. I have no idea how the overlay is going to look like once all other functions are also represented!
  17. It's ok, I was not thinking about Bank Panic in particular. I was thinking for more complex games when the use of the keypad may change depending on the screen you are looking at.
  18. @wavemotion I like how you adapted the overlay at the bottom screen! Question: do you think it would be possible to make the emulator update the bottom graphics depending on which part of the game is being executed? Idea would be to make it context-sensitive.
  19. Right on. Maybe folks who have not published games recently are not aware, but a discussion about the option of offering unprotected rom sales - and corresponding ownership over the (admittedly very modest) revenue stream - has been a common part of the dialog between programmers and publishers. My perception is that when publishers make a deal that include both CIB and rom sales, that tends to be beneficial for both publishers themselves and programmers. It simplifies a lot of things, and rom releases benefit from additional digital assets created by publishers as part of their process of creating the physical release. I'm talking about digital manuals, overlays, box scans, etc. Now if people will pirate roms and publishers will stop making unprotected rom sales, that makes that digital revenue evaporate and leaves programmers to deal with that on their own. Some programmers may choose to sell roms on their own, but that is time consuming and again, those nice digital assets may not be part of the digital product.
  20. Not all roms being shared belonged to Elektronite and IC. Some belonged to programmers. Did anyone confirm with those programmers if their roms were going away "forever"? I don't think so. At least I did not make any public statement either way. Yet, my games were in the bundle being shared. At a minimum, that feels inconsiderate.
  21. I don't know how compatible is this emulator with homebrews... the game works with jzintv for sure which is the best emulator.
  22. Thanks for sharing, and I'm happy for you, Hank. Stay strong!
