I am the one who made the label and cart, there is only 2 in existance, a red one and a silver one and Joe has them both. Highly unlikely that he will ever put them up on eBay. ;)

Dig up an old one. ;)

I no longer have my working copy.  I donated it to the National Videogame Museum in Frisco TX a few years back.  The other working copy went to George Broussard (then) of 3D Realms.  His is probably in storage somewhere.  Still have a few of the fakes, tho.

I have an article I wrote on my blog in 2022 about all this stuff..

I also added it to the Atari Flashback Gold a few weeks back, too. ;)

  2. I saw a link within the last 48 hrs but I can't remember where. Had a breakdown with what games were in what version of Flashback 8. Basic / Gold / Activision Gold and which ones were exclusive to which version. Can't find where that link went now. Anyone have it? Danke.

    Edit: Found it. Was here:

  3. Yesterday I ordered a Harmony cartridge. I'm going to try and introduce the old 2600 to my kids, and thought that would be the way to go vs trying to re-create all of my old collection all over again.

However, downloading all the roms one by one will be a tedious procedure. Does anyone (atariage?) have a downloadable zip of all the 2600 roms offered in one place? If not, I'll do it the hard way, but I was looking to save some time and grab them all at once.

Does such a beast exist, and if so, where?

    Danke.

  4. Hey Joe, Sorry for the delayed response. My job has been beating me senseless with all the travel, so I haven't been able to keep up with things as much as I would like to. As far as volume 2 goes, I have a lot of the groundwork done on them, and :::knock on wood::: I will have some solid time the first 3-4 months of next year where I can devote a ton of time to getting it done and printed. Outside of traveling for x-mas I should be home and at my computer for a few straight months ::::knock on wood yet again::::: Once I have an update I will pass it along.

Sounds good. Not demanding or anything, was just curious. :)

  5. I got mine delivered today (Sunday) - I'm in one of those towns (Dallas) where the USPS delivers for Amazon on Sundays. Was there when I got home from church. As my kid was sick today (plus I had to work a bit), I didn't have a ton of time to plow into it, but from what I have seen it looks really nice! :)

Can't wait to see what you do for "Lost Luggage". That's one of those lesser known, not really great games that my brother and I got a kick out of growing up.

  6. I checked out the sample at the iTunes store, and I agree with the other comments. It doesn't look anything like the print book, and that's a bummer. You can request a sample from the iTunes store, and it gives you apparently one chapter. The one on Activision Decthalon.

Yes, I understand that it has the extra video footage, and that's way cool, but the VERY NICE looking layout I see in the screen grabs from the physical book is not there and THAT is the disappointment. I've read all the msgs up to this point, and I can appreciate the WHY of it. But it is still pretty spartan on the iBooks side. I could overlook that, but the other digital format doesn't have that restriction, so it feels like a bit of a bummer.

I know it is possible to do this with a Kindle publication, as I bought this book through the Kindle store, and it has a truckload of videos embedded in it. So it CAN be done. I just don't know the technical side of it enough to know how or recommend a path to achieve it.

For the record, I bought the iBook version anyway. Still think it could have been nicer, but I did support it.

  7. Actually, I have a suggestion and I guess people can comment on it, and see how much cost would be added. I've gotten several price guides that have a cd version included with the print. That may attract buyers who would be interested in having both a physical copy and a pdf / digital copy. What do you guys think?

  9. Where is this thing? It's been listed in Amazon.com forever. The link I'm aware of for it is this:

    http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/B00093DHIK/73407921

It's also listed at Best Buy here:

    http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp?sk...d=1118842310422

    Walmart.com has it here:

    buy.com is here:

    http://www.buy.com/retail/product.asp?sku=...98&loc=108&sp=1

Walmart says October 4th as a release date. Is that accurate? I've seen posts from people here who have it, did I miss something and it was released already?

  10. My memory says there were two frog games. A co worker here came in and asked me about a frog game - I remembered M Network's Frogs & Flies.

I could have sworn there was another frog game similar to that. Anyone remember what it is? I'm drawing a blank.

  11. I'm sure folks here remember the TV series Dallas. Well, SoapNet has been running the show daily for several months now. They started at the beginning and are running through all of it.

Anyway, the episode that aired this past Friday had an Atari 2600 appearance. In it, Cliff Barnes & Mark Grayson are playing 2600 Missile Command. As the camera pulls around a scene, you get a shot of them with joysticks in hand, and the console on a table. They don't linger on the console at all, but the geek in me had to figure out which they had.

It appeared to be a Vader console variant. The episode in question (titled "Some Do.. Some Don't" aired Jan 20, 1984. Would have been filmed somewhere in the fall of 1983. Kind of interesting. I recognized them playing Missile command right away, then I realized it was the 2600 version (only one base). Got rather excited - had a major geek moment noticing that. :)
