Its ironic that you need a somewhat powerful modern machine in order to encode movies that will play on a VCS I hope people do share some things that they encode.

This may have been asked before...but I couldn't find it. Is there any way to encode videos that Moviecart likes without using TouchDesigner? I run Linux on my primary system. I tried installing Windows 7 and Windows 10 inside of Virtualbox and then Touch Designer inside of that with basically no success. The latest version does not want to install in 7, but will install in 10. But, it will not launch due to the lack of Vulkan in the virtual environment. I even tried older versions of TD in the Windows 7 environment and got one to launch but it doesn't display correctly. Really don't want to install Windows on this machine just to make some movies
  3. I like the FM and it is unique, but not growing up with it here in the USA I am must more nostalgic for the PSG sound. But, that said I do have a Japanese SMS with the FM unit integrated. If you play any FM capable game in it you get the FM sound which can be a blessing or a curse depending on what you like. It will not give you the option to play with it off. What I ended up doing in order to play the games without the FM was to hack the roms that included FM so that the console will play them with PSG. I play those through a flash cart. I also had to hack some games to display in english but that is something else entirely
  4. I was going to post a "power bar" when I ready the title, but I am way too late...lol. Anyway, to be serious, I've used this for a few years now: https://www.harborfreight.com/12-outlet-super-power-strip-96737.html It is plugged into a surge protector which ends in the wall. Never had an issue. And, it fits all of those beastly bricks...even the Colecovision!

I got in literally in the last second. Placed the order, came back and sold out. Makes up for how PO'ed I was when I missed it last time around This is going to be fun to tinker with. Thanks for making it!
  6. Like I said, there is no comparison to the Ultimate II+. I have had them all. I currently also have a BackBit Pro (actually three of them) and while it does a great job for the most part it has nowhere near the compatibility of the UII+. The compatibility of the UII+ is basically what you would get with real floppies and real disk drives. And cartridge images too. And so much more. And, it has the REU built in. You might think "I'll never use that"...but, once you do you will realize how you can never do without it If I were you I'd keep an eye on Gideon's page and buy it when it becomes available. Since he moved to the Lattice FPGA (the "L" in the name now) there has been no issue acquiring parts and he has restocked multiple times over the past weeks/months. And, when you do order I would suggest to add the tape cassette adapter to the order as well. Its cheap enough and might as well when you order the UII+ right then and there. Then you will have the .tap compatibility as well. With that setup you pretty much don't need anything else. At least I don't! EDIT: You can actually just order it now on "backorder" and it will ship when stock arrives...which according to his page should be any time now. I would just do that. I have ordered from him many times...never an issue.
  7. And, it is the most feature rich cart to date. Nothing in my opinion comes close to it and its features.
  8. The Ultimate II+ L is the latest model and Gideon has been consistently in stock up until maybe last week: https://ultimate64.com/ More coming in a few weeks. This is the latest and greatest version. (UII+L)
  9. Bump, now $20 shipped. I really don't need it. Any takers?
  10. This completely sounds like a dirty cartridge slot to me. Maybe a spray of some deoxit in the slot would solve the problem.
  11. Can we see a picture of the cable you are using? You only said it was "a Genesis 2 rgb cable" which does not tell us much. For example I am using an HDRetroVision Genesis 2 RGB cable. That works perfectly fine.
  12. Its the sound card you are using. It's been a while now from what I can recall I ended up going through a few soundcards before I found one that can play SFX and music in game out of one card.
  13. I recently went all out and purchased a new old stock (or refurbished?) Atari Lynx II from B&C Computervisions (hence the sticker on the back initialed). It is not "mint" (there are some scuffs on the plastic screen cover) but it is overall like new. Works perfectly, sound is loud, screen is bright. I teamed it up with a GameDrive as well. It's a superb set, but one problem. My eyesight is failing and I have a hard time seeing it sadly, even with my glasses. I kind of expected that to happen since I can barely see my phone nowadays, so I am kind of kicking myself now. Anyway, I am sure someone with normal vision will enjoy this set. I'd be willing to trade it (or partial trade/cash) for something console related otherwise I am asking $300 shipped for it. This will include the Atari Lynx II, GameDrive with manual, a third party modern power supply for the Lynx II and a loose copy of Batman Returns with instruction manual. For possible trades, I am looking for the following: Atari 800XL with mechanical keyboard Working clean 3DO console with controller Atari XEGS with keyboard Tandy CoCo Deluxe Joysticks (clean, working, I need one or two) Mega Everdrive X5 or better Famicom N8 Everdrive SNES FXPAK Pro Or maybe you have something else that I'd like. Shoot me a message if interested and we'll talk. ***SOLD/TRADED***
  14. I bet it will. I no longer have The C64 to test, but setting to 50Hz should do it. But in the end that is running it on an emulator. I want to run these things on true hardware I miss out on quite a few things regarding the VIC-20 when it comes to PAL. I might have to hunt down a PAL machine one of these days. No PoP for me....going back to Tooth Invaders now...
  15. " Game uses 27 columns x 29 rows so, I'm afraid, it requires a PAL VIC." 😢
  16. It would be best to search for Dreamcast consoles where the GD-ROM is dead. They typically sell for a song.
  17. Are you sure you want a splatter house for your Turbographic?
  18. Most of us know what it is, like I said. The device you have plugs into the Dreamcast serial port. The serial port is slow, much slower than the actual GD-ROM drive. Hence, games stream too slowly. Some work, but if you are looking for a good experience with good compatibility it ain't gunna happen with that $20 device.
  19. Yup. If I were to make a guess on what that board would be worth to someone today I would probably put it at $500 or better for it alone. There's not a whole lot of reference for current sales on ebay however. Maybe checking Amibay to see what they are going for would be a good call. For the A600 itself, it would be helpful to know if it had any work done. Every A600 I ever had needed a recap immediately. Fishy smell immediately after opening the case...even on a brand new unit from AmigaKit many years ago. If it were recapped that is great. If not, well that is something that the buyer will certainly need to do. And, then just some more information on the overall specs would be helpful. There are more things here than just the V2. Looks almost like yardsale of stuff. A Epyx Fastload reloaded cart and a Kung Fu Flash is here too? A breakdown of the list of things and upgrades would be good.
  20. The hardest parts (for me) were continually dropping the darn flea sized springs...and getting that triangular piece off and back on. The FDS drive in the Twin is the same as the one in the original FDS, so same pain either way Following the tutorial the drive immediately read on the first attempt so I would say it is the right way to go. And you are not kidding. I really did almost give up, but I really wanted to see this thing working. Had I found the tutorial I linked first the experience would have been a lot better than following the other tutorial with the "new method" posted on YouTube...
  21. I gotta agree that getting an OSSC is the way to go. Here are some options: KO OSSC (its just as good as the VGP version really, its on Amazon and you'll get it quickly): https://www.amazon.com/Mcbazel-Component-Converter-Nintendo-Super-NES/dp/B083FG6PXH Or, the official one (which is like $10 more, you have to import it, but it IS the official version): https://videogameperfection.com/products/open-source-scan-converter/ And one of these (I have one, works great): https://www.amazon.com/eJiasu-SEGA-Cable-Dreamcast-Adapter/dp/B01N67GOSS $140 for the OSSC and $15 for the cable....so $155 all in...or $165 ish if you opt for the official OSSC unit versus the knock off. Might sound like a lot to spend but trust me, you will have a very fantastic picture. AND, the OSSC is so useful for so many things and not just the DC. You can connect PAL stuff, old computers, consoles via RGB SCART...right to a modern HDMI TV. It's pretty amazing. If I know you Dan it will not go to waste
  22. First, there is a buy/sell forum for things like this. Second, coming off with "don't ask me what I want, make me an offer" doesn't sit well with most people. Personally I'd pass. You know what its worth and what you paid, just tell people what you are looking for and put a price on it. If you price it too high you'll know it. Then you can start slowly dropping the price until somebody bites. If you don't agree maybe ebay is a better solution for you.... where you can let the masses bid and it will end at whatever it ends at. Then, you can pay the hefty fees and cross your fingers for the next 30 days and hope the buyer doesn't experience buyers remorse and file a return on you.
  23. Its a "SixtyClone", a modern clone of the C64. The mission is/was to build a C64 with mostly modern parts. I am waiting for a "J-CPU" which is a modern replacement of the 6510. Right now there's a 6502 on a custom board taking its place This is an earlier picture before I sourced and added the cartridge shield.
  24. This is a drop in RF replacement for the C64 (boards 250466, 250469, 250425, 250407) suitable for both PAL and NTSC VIC-II chips. For those wondering why you would replace the RF modulator, well you would do it to obtain a cleaner picture on composite or s-video. The RF modulator (even if you are not using RF) needs to be present for any video to function in a C64, so it is popular to replace the old RF box with something like this for a much better picture. It comes with the box and user guide and well as build guide. The picture of it plugged into my red Sixtyclone board is for reference to show you what it would look like installed. No Sixtyclone board included There are chroma and luma potentiometers on the board for fine tuning the s-video output. It provides adjustable luma and chroma output potentiometers to fine-tune the S-video signal. Just like the LumaFix64. Thus, the device can theoretically help reduce or eliminate the vertical lines or checker patterns artifacts. It should be noted that composite video output remains at a fixed outout level regardless of the position of the luma and chroma potentiometers. It is not compatible with early 326298-01 boards with the five pin AV Output. I have been using it and it works fine with my setup, however the pot adjustments do not work for me as I am using a Kawari VIC-II replacement, so it seemed like a waste. They will work with real VIC-II chips. So, I replaced this with a simpler model with no pot adjustments. Selling for exactly what I paid, $29 $20 shipped. PM if you want it!
  25. The Jaguar version is certainly superior, but the DOS version is no slouch. I fired it up again tonight after some time of not playing it (and playing the Jag version quite often) and I will say that the gameplay "feel" is on par with the Jaguar version. I am using a Gravis PC gamepad and it feels quite nice. It's an impressive port and I would have been really satisfied with it on the PC back in the day. It runs smooth as silk on my DX4-100.
