  1. BJL? I haven't gotten it yet. Yes, it comes with the serial connector and phone cord. How much do they usually go for? Thanks!
  2. Hello, I have a chance to pick up a Jaguar Dev system that has a switch built in console to toggle between coding mode or normal game play mode. Has Jaguar Unmodified Game Server (JUGS) Disc. Comes with all boxes, 1 controller, etc. How much do these usually go for and whats the advantage to my getting one? Thanks!
  3. Hi, Thanks for letting me know. I think I'm going to really, really clean out that cart slot and reheat the solder points for the slot. Maybe its just a bad joint. I'll post my results either way. Cheers I believe that's actually a somewhat rare form of cartridge read error. As near as I can figure, the Jag can read it well enough to get past the encryption, but can't finish booting. My Jag does this from time to time. Turning it off and on doesn't help, but reseating the cartridge almost always does.
  4. Ha. Crap. Well, I guess I give up. Ok, anyone have a spare Jaguar Base that works they want to sell me?
  5. Hello, OK, I just noticed some more odd behavior. Maybe this will point us in the right direction. Tonight I was trying to boot up Tempest 2000 and on about the 5th try, it loaded up. The Jaguar red logo appeared and I heard the music come on, however, the little Atari letter animation never appeared. The Jaguar logo just remained onscreen by itself throughout. The game seemed to boot OK despite this. I tried a few more times - same thing. I even took the cart out and plugged it back in and the same non-animation happened. After plugging it in a third time, the normal animated letters appeared with the music. Any ideas? Thanks again for the suggestions and help!
  6. I don't think its that. I've tried multiple hookups with the same results. RF, SCART, and S-Video. Maybe my studio monitor was still looking for a sync signal. That sometimes happens.
  7. Ha, OK, OK, no baking the Jaguar. I did notice a new symptom this evening. I was trying to boot it up and I could hear the sound, but no video. This happened a few times, then on about the forth try, it booted normally with video. Any further ideas?
  8. I wonder if "baking" the motherboard would fix the issue? http://www.overclockers.com/forums/showthread.php?t=606658&page=8
  9. That is correct The problem is intermittent, however, ever session seems to take a number of tries to get it working. About 1 out of 5 though it boots up right away without issue. No, I thought it was working better with the top off, but its not. No wires are being crushed from what I can see. I see a white line, like interference, that displays when the power comes on, but after that its the same old black screen. I'm guessing its not outputting a video or audio signal. Got me. Anything I've said ring any bells? Thanks again
  10. Hi Tyrant, Zero suggested that pin cross-over as well early on, but I never tried it because we thought the problem lay elsewhere. I can certainly try it out. Its a pretty easy mod. What other mods have you done to the system? Just curious. Thank you again
  11. OK, thank you all again for the help, it was greatly appreciated. The one good thing to come of this is my discovering the fantastic community here. Cheers!
  12. Hello, I'm looking to buy a Jaguar core system and power adapter. I already have SCART hookups, so no need for an RF box. If it comes with a controller, that's fine, but I already have one. What I'm particular about is that: 1 - it has been tested and works without issue 2 - cosmetically its in great condition, no horrendous scratches, nicks, etc 3 - it has been tested and works without issue (I just got done messing with a weird system for the past week) Willing to pay the fair market value and shipping. I'm in the United States and have a confirmed PayPal account. Thanks!
  13. Hello, I'm selling an Atari Jaguar core system, which includes: system, RF adapter, and power adapter. I recently purchased it and have been having some issues getting the system to work consistently. Sometimes when the system is booted, it black screens. After some time and repeated power ups, it will play the game. Other times it will boot up right away. A better description of the systems behavior can be found in this forum thread: http://www.atariage.com/forums/topic/166891-atari-jaguar-black-screen/ I'm sure this system can be fixed, but I don't have the experience or know-how to do so. Make me an offer. Shipping is free anywhere in the USA. If you are overseas, then that cost will be up to you. I have a confirm PayPal account. Let me know if you have any questions. Best Regards
  14. OK, good to know. Thank you again for taking the time to help out. By the way, how much do just the systems generally sell for in the following conditions: 1. working in great condition 2. goofed up like mine, but sometimes working Then I'm off to the buy/sell part of the forum.
  15. Here are those picts of the adapter:
  16. Hello, Sure, I'll take a picture of the front and back in a bit. Unfortunately, I don't think the issue is with the adapter either. I bought a replacement from Radio Shack and the same behavior happened with this one. Luckily, I can return it for a refund. I guess the cause of this problem is something else. Any other suggestions? Maybe I should just get a replacement base that works and be done with this. Thank you again for the help
  17. Ha, ya, I read that about these power supplies. Unfortunately, I do not have a Sega Genesis 1 power adapter handy. The one I have is in my sister's attic. I was thinking about opening the Jaguar's adapter to see if it just needs a new fuse or something, but it has odd screws. Any ideas on how to open these up? Thanks again
  18. OK, when the Jaguar boots, the voltage of the point you specified is the same as the black screen: 4.99 Does that tell you anything? Is it out of the realm of possibility that this may be an issue with the AC Adapter and not the motherboard at all? Thanks again
  19. OK, done. Only needed a 9V. So, now its being a jerk and won't boot, so I can only give you the black screen voltage right now: 4.99 I'll give you the other as soon as I can. (I hope) Thanks
  20. Well, mine doesn't have a 'DC' designation. Here is what it looks like and the position I used: I bought this a while back.... 2004 I believe. Never liked this multimeter, always seemed overly complex.
  21. Hi Zero, Thank you for the detailed instructions. This is what I got: Working reading: between 6.47 and 6.51 Black screen reading: between 0.07 and 0.10 I also noticed that the longer its 'working' the higher the number seemed to get. Does that make any sense? Actually, after just taking the black screen values, I went back to test again and this time it was all the way up to 6.99. I turned it off, then on again and it booted up OK. Thanks again, Phil
  22. I have a multimeter, but I'm not the best at using honestly. I bought it a few years back with every intention of learning how to use it well.... Anyway, to take the voltage, I set it to the 'omega symbol' and 200K, correct? I located the U9 chip. Could you specify which is pin #10 and which is ground? I was unable to locate it on the Jaguar schematic. Again, I'm not the best with this sort of thing. Looking at the other chips on the board, I'm guessing the pin designations are as follows: 7 | 8 6 | 9 5 | 10 4 | 11 3 | 12 2 | 13 1 | 14 The left side of the chip illustrated above faces the Jaguar's front. Thank you again for your time and help!
  23. Well, I heated the two blue wire points, as well as the C42 cap. I popped a game into the Jaguar without the plastic top on and it booted fine. So then I put the plastic back on, tried to boot a game - black screen. Took the plastic off, then back on again and it booted a game fine. So, I'm pretty much back where I started: The machine seems to randomly work, or not, for no apparent reason. Any other ideas?
  24. OK, I can re-solder those points no problem. I think you mentioned earlier about not heating up the chip too much. Do you have a recommended soldering temperature that I should keep my iron at? I have a digital solder station that goes up to 800 degrees F or so. Are these service manuals and test carts available on the internet?
