Hahah, your first sentence is exactly what I blurted out just as I cracked the machine open. So the power outlet is connected to nothing, and the power supply has been spliced to the original outlet wiring and the supply cord runs through a hole drilled through the casing. Im not sure if this is causing the power not coming on, or if its the switch, or what.

So interestingly I -- as someone not so familiar with the system -- was assuming the power supply was hard wired in and wondered what was up with the plug that was being unused. Oh, wow. I cracked it open (those screws took forever!) and I found this. This might explain my power issues. Wow.

Boy, it is in bad shape. I am new to the console, and found a used (and very dirty) Colecovision which I picked up. Problem one: it seems hit or miss as to whether or not the system powers on. This concerns me quite a bit. Problem two: both hand controllers were also filthy; one has directional issues (up no longer works) and the other has a seemingly non-functioning number pad. I have no idea where to begin trying to resolve these issues. Can anyone help? Thanks!

Oh if I had any wiring skills whatsoever I would make a SCART cable but alas, those are nonexistent for me! I saw someone mentioning the idea of a flash cart one day for the system. Is there someone actually working on this, or is it just wishful thinking?

I actually just picked up a Super Cassette Vision. I sadly just have the RF conenctor; where does one procure a SCART cable?? If anyone knows of places to procure games, please let me know!

Exciting stuff! I have always been more at home with C than I have with assembler. Ideally, this will have the flexibility that I found missing in Batari (though it is a fine product in itself!).

Anyone experiencing some speech synthesizer wierdness with the FlashRom99? When I play Alpiner, the player's dialogue is all garbled. I didn't notice issues with other speech programs (Parsec, Bigfoot).

I just became aware of Spice C -- I am definitely excited to see where this goes, and can't wait to use it!

I was fairly young when it happened, so from my perspective: My family was not so well off, and suddenly we were able to buy a 2600, and most of my games were a dollar! Neighbours were pretty keen on getting rid of their stuff, so I had quite the collection for a while, even if some of it was just loose carts (Indiana Jones was a game I never learned to play because of this, for example!).

I actually just saw the email about Keith's passing so I am understanding the delay. I feel terrible for complaining now, considering the news!!

Also, I tried ordering the Flashback controller and adapter from the links above and, as of today, I have yet to hear anything back. Does this store still operate??
