  1. Just got my first Colecovision! Found it on Craigslist, haggled it down to $40. Two working controllers, original Coleco RF switch box(kinda cool), the world's largest power adaptor and RF cable. Everything is there and working, and pretty clean, too! And 5 working games: Donkey Kong Frogger II Ladybug Carnival Smurf Rescue in Gargamel's Castle Cool! I usually see people asking more for these, and you never know if it's going to be working or not. I feel like I did pretty well.
  2. Just bought the EZ Flash IV. Thanks to everyone for the info. Wish me luck on the mod! I'm gonna make a new thread when I get going on it.
  3. Loved it! Can't wait until you get to the top 10 so I can read your take on Donkey Kong '94!
  4. This is a really great idea. The 7800 XM Kong will be fabulous I'm sure, but I doubt I'll ever play it since it's not likely I'll get an XM. Back in the day, we never really expected arcade ports to be perfect. That was an impossible dream. Graphics and features always had to be sacrificed somewhat. But something akin to the recent Intellivision versions of DK done for 2600 would be nice. Not all the special features, just a better version. Nuff said...
  5. Yup, there are many that could have been done. Kinda bums me out that the XM is coming out, being as it seems like the best homebrewers are going with it. Looks like the stock 7800 isn't going to see many more of these previously overlooked great titles.
  6. If you want to sell something, you already know what price you're willing to accept. Make an offer threads usually seem like one of two things to me: Seller is fishing for a noob to make a crazyhigh offer, or seller is too lazy to price their stuff. We've all seen the sale threads that just sit there when unpriced, but then when "Bump. Prices added." happens stuff starts selling. Notice how nobody has chimed in here saying "You all are sadly mistaken. Make an offer threads are the best!" Seems opinion here is pretty unanimous.
  7. Nice vid, thank you Fujiskunk! Now I have to buy this game...
  8. Can somebody please post a gameplay video? Only one I can find is a demo from a year or two ago.
  9. Exactamundo! And decent old ports would be good enuff for this scheme, fer sher.
  10. For sure, but a Netbook would hardly fit, and would be WAY tougher to do. NES emulation would likely be good enough for the simple arcade ports I think. VAST upgrade over the tabletop's VFD stuff, for sure anyway. It worked good enough some years ago to do SMB for me, but I no longer have that stuff. Anyway, muchas gracias!
  11. Hey gang, I just upgraded my old beatup Coleco Donkey Kong tabletop with a nice, minty one from craigslist and am finally ready to frankenstein mod the old one. My plan is to put a GBA SP inside, making it more of what us 1980s kids dreamed these machines would be. Sooo, I can just do that and use GBA carts, but a flash cart with multiple games would really kick it up a notch, esp if I could run a NES emu on it--NES really had some nice arcade ports, and now, most importantly, the NES Donkey Kong Complete rom with all 4 screens! That would really make this a dream machine! I did one a few years ago with 1 of those Excalibur Frogger tabletops, putting guts from a cheap Chinese multigame inside and it came out great, but the screen is a bit small, game selection blows...anyway, I want to top that and really go for the gusto this time. Anybody got good advice on which flash cart to buy? NES emulation and possibly also oldschool GB and GB Color compatibility would be the biggest considerations. Thanks in 'advance' har-har...
  12. I just saw it in Southern Califorrnia at a Walmart a week or two ago. It hadn't been there before that, though.
  13. 1. Vectrex. Waited almost 30 years to own one of these--love it! I splurged and bought the sd card programmable cart first thing. Then I splurged again and bought a homebrew light pen here on Atariage. This console gets played regularly. Color me jealous of the Vector Pilot owners... 2. Tomy American Pinball toy pinball machine I already had the simpler, but also cool Atomic Pinball, but the American Pinball is just fantastic! When I have company this thing is frequently a favorite, with multiple bonus hole/skill shots and some nice sound effects. I consider it the finest "toy" pinball machine ever made. I owned a Zizzle Marvel Heroes machine and while it was more of a "real" pin, it had some glaring errors that kind of hurt it. Anyway... 3. Coleco Tabletop Mini Arcades I'm gonna sort of lump a few together here. A couple of years ago, I bought a broken tabletop Galaxian from a guy on ben heck's site fer cheep. I cleaned the battery contacts and it fired right up--no battery cover though, and even with cardboard/tape/popsicle sticks etc these heavy batteries are hard to keep in their place. Both joysticks were broken off, but the pieces were there. I took a couple of small bolt spacers and fashioned new sticks. Fun game! In 2011, I scored a REALLY busted up tabletop Ms Pacman, which worked but was missing the entire top half/"hood" of the machine--came with battery cover. I swapped out the joysticks from the Galaxian, stole Ms Pacman's battery cover and voila! The Galaxian looks MUCH better and the batteries don't shake loose all the time! The Ms Pacman is fun really to play even though it's beat to hell, I ought to add. And it's so beat up that having cardboard and tape on the batteries is no big deal. Okay, final last part here: This past year I also purchased a somewhat decently clean tabletop Donkey Kong off craigslist, missing a couple stickers and no battery cover. Somewhere here on Atariage, a member mentioned that he fashioned an AC adaptor for his tabletop DK, and I ended up sending him a few bucks for his battery cover. I still have to make a couple of replacement stickers, but my DK is working well. The difficulty on this game is pretty intense. Whoops, one more part: Just a few weeks ago I picked up a really clean tabletop Pacman fer cheep from craigslist. Sadly, it has no battery cover. As has been said many times, the annoying sound on this game could kick 7800 Donkey Kong's butt--and there is no volume control. The Coleco tabletop arcades are so pricey anymore that I just can't ebay them. I wish I had bought some four or five years ago before their value rose. Here's hoping I find a semi-broken Zaxxon in 2012!
  14. I replaced my laptop a few months ago. Windows 7 using Firefox to view Atariage. I keep myself signed in here so I don't have to log in over and over, and for another reason: When viewing new posts to Atariage threads I had previously viewed, my old computer's Firefox would "remember" exactly the last post I had viewed, and would automatically take me to the last page of the thread--already scrolled down to the new posts. My new machine ain't doin' it! I'm thinking it has to do with a Firefox security/cookie setting or something, but I can't seem to find the right one. Anybody figure this one out before?
  15. Yes! I was totally bummed 2011 didn't happen. Officially on my calendar as of right now!
  16. I always tell them to send the check so they have to go to the trouble. Then, I deny having received it and try to make them send another one. I love messing with these guys. Just use your junk email address.
  17. Coleco tabletop mini-arcade Donkey Kong. The difficulty is pretty much off the chain here. First/girders screen? Not a problem at all. Second/rivets screen? Ridiculously hard. I played this a bazillion times before I ever got past the second screen, continuing to try "just one more time."
