  1. Hi everybody, Last weekend for GemTos I created a special demo cartridge of Wyvern Tales Gaiden to sell at the event. The demo is roughly 15% part of the final game (and had very small amount of testing so expect a bug or two). Music is created by @miker, graphics have been created and enhanced by @agradeneu I have 10 left and there won't be any more created, so if you are interested in getting one, please send a PM on here and I will fill you in with the details I'll do a first come, first served approach. The final game should be ready some time next year and will not be in limited quantities, so there's no need to feel like you missed out Thank you for your attention!
  2. We're mainly using the KoE rendering part of the engine. There is no overlap between this game and KoE. The point of KoE is to die and replay as part of the roguelike genre (maybe even more roguelite because at least a tiny bit of progress is carried over). Wyvern Tales 2 will be story focused, world building, micro management, plenty of growth on the individual characters, and generally comparable to the oldschool JRPGs out there. I'm using my knowledge of WT1 for the Lynx to make a game that should be enjoyable and always give a sense of progress. I'm also addressing things that I got as feedback on WT1 to improve on both of my current projects. Trying to ditch the tough-as-nails aspect of the early 90s JRPGs in favor of something lighter. Not too light, expect to grind
  3. I saw this KS project a while back as well and was thinking.. if he managed to meet the final stretch goal and the backers chose the Lynx as the final platform to port this game to he'd be working for the rest of his life on this project. Currently no big updates on my end to showcase, though I took a deep dive into the menu system and learning a lot about Jaguar programming in general. The event system has been implemented and the first few events are fully working with boss fights. Half of the bosses have been designed, that is a great milestone but I will NOT show the progress on this I'm having a lot of fun with this project, that is certainly the case
  4. Happy to chime in 21 years later.. Jaguar has the best Wolfenstein 3D game out there. Even ports on modern consoles don't come close to this raw 64bit masterpiece. What more does one need in life.
  5. Oh lol I can't believe I missed that. Thought that only worked for the cores
  6. Looking forward to this one. I really enjoy reading the GG for the Lynx. Great production quality!
  7. There is a "bug" in this game that if you zig-zag constantly when having ball possession, the CPU cannot figure out how to get the ball including the goalie. This game is probably the least favorite in my collection, but I got this game the same year as the World Cup in 1994 and played the hell out of it during that cup. I tried to come up with a list of 5, but apparently I mainly have the good games of the Lynx.. can't think past Batman and World Class Soccer, and even these games gave me so much joy back in the days.
  8. Landed on the XPR, it got discounted to a 100 after I posted on here. I guess the announcement did the drop in price. Made me regret not getting this device earlier, so far I feel like this has been the nicest experience of playing retro games on a handheld in modern times. I love my analogue to play original carts, but having save states is amazing. Was hoping to find the Pico 1 Collection but looks like I am too late for that one.. only people selling them on ebay for $100-$200 :s
  9. It most certainly has it on the emulator.. maybe its different on real hardware? RNG behaving different because of that? I don't own the original game, so I can't check this.
  10. The randomness is a bit of a problem yes, especially at that jump for the pond. It took me probably 10 tries before I could get a run where ghosts weren't spawned in the middle of it.
  11. Ok I gave it a few more tries, even managed to jump across that pond though I think that part is utterly unfair. Its a fun game for sure but I am happy that I didn't buy this as a kid 37670 at round 5.. I'm probably skipping a lot of hidden bonuses.
  12. I give up.. I can't beat my own highscore or cross that bridge.. Pac-land is the Dark Souls of platformers
  13. You're correct, I forgot that I was drawing them behind the background sprite to get the desired behavior.
  14. Thanks for the clarification. So basically I should consider Capcom+ HDMI vs better battery life. Saw a deal for the XPR for 110 euro so I might just go for that
  15. Asking the experts.. I was thinking to get the EXP soon with the Capcom collection on the device but now they announced the EXP-R with Tomb Raider. EXP-R will not have the HDMI output nor access to the Capcom game, but would be a little cheaper. Is there any other difference to take into account? I believe the chipsets are pretty much the same? Tomb Raider will be on a cartridge so could be played on the EXP? Feels unnecessarily fractured from what I could understand.
  16. I'll probably get scolded for this approach, but I achieved this by writing a constant number of sprites and make sure to draw them off the screen when I don't need them. Not at all elegant but quite easy to implement.
  17. My scores: Pac-land: 21910... I died after this screenshot, what am I supposed to do here? The bridge doesn't seem to come back? Eggsavier Normal: 20 Eggsavier Virus: 93
  18. Played Pac-Land today pretty much for the first time.. not an easy game! At the forest part I tend to panic with the limited visibility.. Will submit a score soon though
  19. been super busy this year.. every time I think of grabbing my Lynx I end up doing development for it. I'll try the next round though, I have the Analogue Pocket with the Lynx adapter with me almost every day so I should be able to get something scored during lunch times!
  20. Will be joining GemTos this year as well, excited to meet up again! Please reserve a cart for me
  21. Final Fantasy Legend was brutal to play in my memories.. never got into that series as a kid. This looks like a great project to follow, though I'm a bit confused.. its a Gameboy JRPG released on Steam but no mention for an actual Gameboy release?
  22. This was one of my favorites of the LynxJam. Great use of the sprite art and overall fun gameplay. Could indeed be a bit more challenging at later stages.
  23. They sometimes pop up on this FB group: https://facebook.com/groups/lynxfans/
  24. Thanks for the offer, I might get back on this but currently the device is MIA. I gave it as a present to my friend 2 years ago and asked him recently if he still uses it because I wanted to try a few more things to make it more stable, but he said its somewhere in a box after moving. If he finds it back I will definitely give AmberElec a shot.
