  1. Yeah the odyssey 2 was almost the size of the 5200, but that's because it has a keyboard. The CD-i was definatley the hummer or monster truck of every system ever made.
  2. Well if that isn't anything to brag about..... Did you happen to see the 2 thousand dollar instrument on the right ???
  3. The boxes aren't in as great condition as you think. All the 2600 and intelly boxes are squashed, some of the 5200 boxes are in good condition, but the N64, SNES, and Gameboy boxes are in almost perfect condition. I seem like the only person who takes care of these sorts of things. When I got my 2600 the top of the box with the picture of the system was cut off. You can see in one of the pictures that the 5200 box has a gaping hole on the top. The Intelly box is all taped up. The SNES Gameboy and N64 were the only systems I had since I literally was a fetus so that's why those boxes are in great condition.
  4. I'm only 12 to and I've been a fan of it ever since I saw a top-ten count down of the best systems ever. I never even knew Atari had made game systems until I was 10. I found out when my brother started to tell me about this Atari Pac-Man that was really awful. Me too.
  5. Great. I wish I was at that tag sale. What city/town was it in?
  6. If you do come down to Connecticut remember to stop by the Maplewood Indoor Flea Market in New Milford on Saturday or Sunday. There are tons of games there. Just look for the big shelves in the middle of the room, there will probably be music playing at that stand.
  7. I took a look in my game system boxes and I realized, I've got a lot of boxes. Just look at all of them!!! and those are just the boxes for the games. Look at all the boxes for my systems. I couldn't fit my SNES box into the first picture. I have my system boxes filled with the game boxes. Since my closet is filled with junk I just have all these boxes dangerously stacked on top of my computer desk. Well if there ever would be a power socket overload (which there probably would be in my room) then that just means more things to spread the flame !
  8. Yes I am familiar with the 2600. I have a light sixer and the reset and select switches just seem smoother to push down than my four switch. The system was in a dusty, dirty indoor flea market for months, maybe years. When I opened the system up the metal shield around the cartridge slot was practically rusted onto the bottom casing. Maybe the fact that it was in such wet, dirty, disgusting conditions could be the reason of the stickiness. There is problem with the operation of the switches, the feel of pushing them down is a little irritating.
  9. The flea market I go to is the Maplewood indoor flea market in New Milford CT. There's one or two stands with one or two games but one guy has shelves and shelves stuffed with games for really cheap. I have a frequent buyer's discount along with the regular multiple item discount so I can get boxed Atari 2600 games for $.50 each. I bought most of my systems there. That stand also has tons of computers, monitors, extra cables and wires for almost anything, turntables, radios, speakers, and even one of those school overhead projectors.
  10. I just bought a 4 switch 2600 and the reset and selet switches are sticky. It's really annoying and I'm wondering how I can fix them.
  11. Yes Atari was starving for cash. Jeez, they couldn't even afford to put a few springs in the controller. They put all their trust in flimsy flex circuits and "rubber boots." It's like driving a really old car, you hope it doesn't break but you get it going for a couple minutes and it breaks down. Have you seen the size of the 5200? The thing is the size of my computer. Atari could have saved tons of money on materials by cutting down the size of the 5200. The system didn't need a controller door, and IMO, the 5200's graphics were miles ahead of the ColecoVision's and the Intellivision's so cutting back on the graphics a little wasn't that big of a deal. Not to mention the box. yeesh they used a whole tree for one 5200 box. You can literally fit a medium plasma screen TV into it. Atari didn't necessarily "produce" wasteful things. Most of what Atari wasted their money on was failed experiments like the Mindlink. One wasteful thing Atari did produce was the 2600 Jr.
  12. The driving paddles, keypad, and touchpad are all common controllers that probably did waste Atari's money. Your forgetting all the other controllers that many people didn't care about like the Mindlink, kid's controller, Space Age, wireless joysticks, and the light gun. Some of these controllers were only made for one game, so atari didn't have much of a reason to make them. I think the joystick and paddles are just fine. I think the Panther would have been very successful. I think it would be interesting to see Atari battling Sony, Microsoft, and Nintendo. I really wish there was another company like Nintendo that has existed from the near beginning of home consoles I'm pretty sure the number if bits the PS2, the Gamecube, and the XBOX1 had was 180, and 180 bit systems were right after 64 bit systems. Maybe I'm just going crazy. I think that the XBOX 360 has 360 bits and a 360 degree angle is a circle, so XBOX1 has half the bits that the XBOX 360 has and half a circle is 180. Maybe school is corroding my brain.
  13. Do you think that Atari would still be making consoles today of they didn't blow their money away on stupid ideas? Atari's failure was all a chain reaction. Atari wasted their money on making things like tons and tons of controllers that people didn't want to wast their money on because they had no problem with the normal joystick. If Atari didn't waste all their money on things for the 2600 that nobody needed then they probably would have had money to make the 5200 controller better. If the 5200 controller didn't suck, if the 5200 wasn't huge and was backward compatible with all 2600 software, then the 5200 would have sold enough to make enough money to make the graphic capabilities of the 7800 better, spread the word about the 7800, and release more games for the 7800. If Atari made the Panther instead of the Jaguar then the Jaguar would have had a better graphics processor so more games could be made for it. Now if the Jaguar sold well they could have made a 180 bit system while every other company was still stuck with 64 bit systems. What would the 180 bit system be called? Puma? Lion? Tiger? 10400? Boy if the guys down at Atari had some common sense then they would be making mega bucks now.
  14. My all time favorite light gun game is To The Earth. It's kind of like a light gun version of Gyruss.
  15. Take a gander at these geese that I picked up from the flea market today. The total price of all those things, $25 Good deal eh ?
  16. I have a beautiful 4 port. Her name is Pamela, How creative. I could have bought an even nicer 2 port with purple plastic over it but when I tested her at the flea market, she was broken. Eh my 4 port came with the box anyway. I love my 5200 .
  17. Wow. I didn't think there was anyone younger than me!
  18. I'm 13 and in a month I'm going to be 14. I loved retro gaming ever since I saw AVGN and got my first NES last year. Even though my first old system was a Super Nintendo, I am loyal to Atari and my favorite system is the 2600.
  19. If anything I thought that game was one of the worst. I couldn't control the stupid surfing monkey.
  20. Atari 2600 5200 7800 Sega Genesis Dreamcast NES Super Nintendo N64 TurboGrafx16 ColecoVision Intellivision PS1 Odyssey 2
