  1. Mednafen is just a port of Handy. It is really the same thing. But what I would like to do is to let Handy develop to a new direction. Today we limit the screen to Lynx resolution 160 x 102 pixels. It would be possible to use higher res screens and let the sprite engine draw the bitmaps with the maximum details available. In this way you could easily run old games with much better details on the screen. I would love to try this on the PSP screen 480 x 272 pixels. Especially for card games like Freecell or Klondike this would show the cards with the same resolution as any PSP game. And the same cart image would work on the Lynx. This approach would also allow better Lynx-TV experience than the original Atari hardware. The only big problem is still the stuttering sound of the Lynx emulation. This needs to be solved in Handy somehow. The current streaming technology is too slow. We need a new kind of chip-sound driver for the operating system that would work exactly as the Lynx hardware with no buffering problems. -- Karri Do you think Handy will ever be improved regarding to your discussion??? This is a classic handheld that will no doubt be extinct (good quality units) within the next 5-10 yrs. The unique graphics, music, and games is what makes the Lynx come alive. Someone out there who is knowledgeable enough and or a group of knowledgeable gurus will hopefully oneday perfect the handy emulator. Maybe even make a higher caliber emulator..... LYNX fans can only hope.....
  2. What is the development version that you say is an incedibly helpful tool. I don't understand...... All I know is that I can either download v 0.90 or v0.95. Please help.. Thank you so much The development version is called handybug where you can make RAM-Snapshot debugging, step-by-step running and many more. Is the development version different than Handy v 0.90 or 0.95; or is it a tool you use with the handy v 0.90 or 0.95?? Please explain, I am trying to learn. Thanks
  3. I have heard by some Atari Lynx fans that Mednafen 0.8B is the best Atari Lynx emulator due to its accuracy. Is this True?? How does it match up against the handy version 0.90 and or 0.95. For those of you Lynx Gurus that use windows weigh in and be the judge -->

  5. Will i be able to find the screen filtering techniques to smooth out the graphics as an option. I mean will it be part of the emulator and provided for me?? i am new to all of this and I am trying to learn. I take it that an x box or other PC controller will work fine. I heard someone saying that the sound emulation is "crackling/ static like " at times and not good. thanks for your help and God bless.
  6. You only need an insert.o (which is kind of boot program for Atari Lynx) and lynxer.exe Then just put both in same directory than the file you want to convert into .lyx (let's say chip8.o) and type lynxer chip8.o You can flash a .lyx on flashcard or burn it to an eprom, there is nothing more to do. You will find both in old BLL kit or new developper kit from Karri. Also, building his own insert.o is quite easy (but you need sprpck to convert image and an assembler to compile it), I guess there is an example somewhere (maybe on sage site ? or in the BLL kit sources). I also made an explanation in french on Yaronet... If you want a .lnx for Handy, you will also need make_lnx.exe (given with Handy or Handydev I guess) and type : make_lnx chip8.lyx -b0 256K to build a 256k rom useable with Handy What is the best emulator to use for my PC using Windows program. I love My Lynx and have heard some good and bad things about the Handy. You sound knowledgeable, so please guide me in the right direction... what can i expect
  7. I bought an Atari Lynx from them and they assured me it was brand new. It looked like dirt and the worst I have ever bought. I even asked him to send me the best he had.... Just be careful
  8. ** Is that a picture of you running this California games on an emulator????? If so what do you use as an Atari Lynx emulator and how much do you like it. Does it play good, sound good, look good?
  9. SO SAD INDEED Is the Handy the best you recommend for emulating Atari Lynx games???? How do all the other games look and sound??? You just broke my heart. I was so excited about using the Handy emulator..
  10. Hi friend, Just Google "Best electronics atari" go to their website and purchase the NICD adaptor they especially made for the lynx. I did and i love it!!! or just buy an ac adaptor from them..
  11. +++ IF IT LOOKS HIGH QUALITY AND WORKS AWESOME ON NEW FLAT SCREEN LCD TV'S LET ME KNOW BECAUSE I WILL LOVE YOU FOR EVER!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  12. True, but I have had bad luck with all my Lynx units. They either have bad pixels or they end up collecting all that nasty dust under the screen. I wish Jack Tramiel would have at least put more $$ into production and built a better screen and more tightlly sealed. I love the lynx because of how much love the programmers put into making the games.
  13. My friend, go to Atari "Best electronics" (just google it, you will see it) and buy the specially made slick looking battery pack they sell. It rocks, looks good, and gives long life....
  14. I am a die hard Atari Lynx fan and I am about to purchase a very nice Pc for gaming. I will have Windows program to run the "Handy" emulator. I would love to play all my favorite Lynx games in better quality and sound via emulation and would like to know what you guys think about the "Handy" emulator. Whats the difference between V 0.90 and 0.95??? 1. How good is the quality of both visuall and Sound. 2. Does joystick support work good. 3. Will Die Hard Atari Lynx fans like my self be blown away after experiencing the "HANDY".........
  15. I am a die hard fan of Atari Lynx and soon I will have a very fast PC for gaming and can't wait to try out the Handy. Although I love my lynx, I would like to experience it in better quality and sound. Every Lynx I have ever owned always gets a bunch of dust under the screen and there are always either pink or white dots on the Lcd screen. ** Will this emulator blow die hard Lynx fans away? For windows, what is the difference between Handy 0.90 and 0.95?? **LETS SEE HOW BAD THIS "HANDY" BAD BOY REALLY IS**
