  1. The DIP switches has more possibilities than there are games on it. So make sure they are in the right settings. And if you think they are, then try flipping them to the opposite. (I've gotten dip switches backwards before) If it still doesn't work, you probably have a bad cart. The 10-n-1 that came with the 2600+ should definitely work with the 2600+ without any updates needed...
  2. On the contrary, getting older couldn't be simpler... I do nothing, and it still happens...
  3. Didn't have one back in the day (my family went the Odyssey 2 route), but from what I can see from some google searches, it looks like the version of Combat that came with the original VCS did have a full size box...
  4. Good info... Although I kind of wondered when I saw this thread and decided to check. The manual is there for Video Olympics, but unless I missed it, it doesn't say to hit Reset to start the game... OK, page 5 of what I think is the original VCS manual does say it: Depress the RESET switch. Game action will begin. By depressing the RESET switch anytime during the game, the score will reset to 0-0.
  5. What's wrong with a little sarcasm? It's not like I am being very serious about it... But sorry if that bothers you... (Not sarcastic... Didn't mean to... Just was me being silly...)
  6. Man, I missed the poll on that! Dang it... Not that it would have mattered, as I'm not new-ish here and definitely 40+ (think I am going to use that whenever someone asks my age). But still, I would have liked to see the polling...
  7. Well there we go! Anecdotal evidence... I think that just about proves it then... 🙂 (sorry)... 🙂
  8. That's just terrible!!! And you know what's worse? My new Atari 2600+ broke! You see, I was using it to try to play some games, and none of them worked at all!!! And then the 2600+ burst into flames and caught my house on fire!!! Yeah, that's the ticket!!! Wife (Morgan Fairchild!!), kids, dog in the house too!!! Such a tragedy!!! Man I miss that dog.... I'm sorry, what was this thread about again??? (OK, not sorry!!! And no, I don't even have a 2600+ yet... Just being silly just in case anyone was wondering...)
  9. You drop the right product in the wrong way on the wrong surface and the most seemingly indestructible surface can surprise you and shatter!!! Maybe not for you, but for my wife... She has a talent for that... 2nd to last phone she had, she dropped from about 10 inches high... Cracked the glass. (She'd had it for a day, screen protector was on order and would show up in a couple of days... <sigh>). New phone she just got, this time I made sure the screen protector was installed right away. Two days later, she mentions she's glad I got a 4 pack of screen protectors, because she dropped her phone and the screen protector is cracked. (To be fair to her, not everything she drops breaks!!! And I don't think she dropped her previous phone after she dropped it and cracked the glass...)
  10. Chrome just updated.  What's new page on restart??  Ohh!!!
    Shopping... Deals...
WTH???  Google, this is a browser, not the new version of the TEMU app...  OMG...

I set my homepage to duckduckgo for lack of a better option. After the update, mine went there. Are you using the default homepage?

It wasn't the homepage.  It was just the extra page that Chrome shows you after you restart after an update to tell you about the new features.
I wasn't bothered about that.  It's easy to close that. Only comes up the once to let you know about the new features.
I was just bugged that all those new "features" centered around shopping.

Hmm, missed it on my end

  11. True, but I've found not all modern TVs display older systems well, especially with RF... So your mileage may vary...
  12. Am I legally allowed to only slightly injure someone if I ask them an "either/or" question, and they reply with "Yes.."
Aarrgghh!!!  (This happens at work more than I'd like to admit...)

Yes, but you have to give them a choice between one of two punishments.

Reminds me,...I was watching Disenchantment last night on Netflix.  There's a scene where they are all talking about the toy action figures made of each character, and Merkimer says, "For me,  if you squeeze me, I fart",  Luci says, "You or the toy?"

Merkimer says, "Yes,  and thanks for the set up!"

@GoldLeader I love a bad joke, that one stinks.

  13. I have to admit.... That doesn't look all that bad to me... Note: I've never played it... But just that screenshot... I could see that game being fun...
  14. I did the opposite a while ago... I have the CRT downstairs, and had an old Firestick around and was wondering.... So I found a cheap (very cheap) HDMI to composite adapter online and hooked it up. That's when I found out that neither my old Firestick nor the adapter supported any top/bottom bars or going into 4:3 mode (for the Firestick)... It was just the widescreen Firestick display, squished to 4:3... I mean, it works...
  15. One: Note my last line: And two: In case someone wants the 2600+ instead of the VCS... People have differing tastes...
  16. Here's an interesting concept... Instead of releasing carts, perhaps consider releasing one cart that has WiFi. Then customers can digitally buy games via your digital game buying site (here on AA most likely). And they can switch games (either from a built into the system ROM or from the website or ? that would send the game of choice to the cart.) That wouldn't rule out single game carts too, for those that want them. But it would be a kind of multicart/digital fulfillment model??? Just one of my crazy ideas... And just to point out, absolutely NONE of my crazy ideas has ever been put into production, for what I am assuming are VERY GOOD REASONS!!
  17. Zool: Am I a joke to you? Now, I know Zool's designer George Allen says Zool definitely wasn't an ant (as every Amiga owner said he was). But he also says Zool wasn't written to be a Sonic clone, so...
  18. Yeah, I'm not sure how much is revisionist memory kicking in or not. ( I think a lot personally ) Yes, I am sure some people didn't like it... Every game has people who didn't like it. But among my friends back in the day, it was understood it didn't look/sound like the Arcade game, but it was still fun. There's a reason it was the best selling game for the Atari VCS... (And by a HUGE margin...) People liked it... Lots of them...
  19. Can't believe I never noticed before that the Atari logo is right there on the forks of Artemis' Akira-styled motorcycle in Ready Player One.

  20. To be fair, the 2600 is still end of life...
  21. To be fair, the target platform is the 2600+ with it's HDMI, so the PAL/NTSC thing is less of a concern for a lot of their target users... But I agree, a note that these are NTSC versions would be good for those who will notice the difference and/or want to play them on PAL original hardware. Reminds me (for some reason) of when I went to London and toured the Globe theater. Saw a Henry V DVD in the gift shop and bought it. It wasn't until the flight home that I even thought about NTSC/PAL... But apparently at the Globe, they know their audience better than that and figured the people who wouldn't think to ask/check probably want NTSC. (I do wonder if they had both on the shelves and I just happened to pick the right one???)
  22. They have hinted that is likely...
  23. Actually, he's growing on me... Thinking of calling him Catari... No? OK...
  24. Interesting question. They are kind of a collection of sellers. So when you buy from AliExpress, you aren't buying from them per se. In this case, you would be buying from "Shop1102085341 Store" who is a seller who sells thru AliExpress. I've had decent luck in general, but mostly I buy lower cost electronic pieces. I think in general they are legit. That said, I wouldn't buy something from them personally unless it was inexpensive. I bought a 239-n-1 NES cart for around $20 a couple of years ago. It arrived and works as expected. But not sure I'd vouch for them tho...
