      Coincidentally, he also has issues with what passes for the Mafia around here (though not specifically the Albanians)...

      I suppose that may be possible, but my Uncle is probably less literate than Creamhoven. His formal education ceased somewhere about grade 6 when it became "too hard" for him.

      There's also the fun game of making people confuse the Dutch and the Danish.  Few things are more enjoyable than getting someone to say something like, "you know, the Dutch - they're from Denmark!"

      Highly underrated devices and mind blowing tech for the time (especially for the price).  I have two Xtremes and found slightly smaller gum stick batteries that work perfect. Big homebrew scene when they were new, but nothing these days.

      I know someone who had a pair of these set up to act as remote monitors and controls for a laser cutter.  This was back in 2014 or so; I'll ask him about them next time I see him.

      John Romero convinced me to buy a Blackberry, which cost me a job at Apple. Seems very weird to me that I'm not making this up.

      @thanatos: that was it!  BES.  God, what a hunk of crap.  Positively hated it.  It barely worked when it did, and when it broke it broke in obtuse ways, as you discovered.  Kinda like the handsets.  "Why does my phone dial 911 regardless of the number I try to call?" was a support request we received that ended up being referred to Blackberry's level 9000 support.  Their final response: "yeah, it shouldn't be doing that.  Huh."

       

      More fun & games ensued after they agreed to replace the phone if we provided it to them for forensic examination.  Just send it back to them (in Canada) at our cost and in 15-20 business days, we'll get a refurb unit as a replacement.  Any customs fees, etc. were our responsibility.

       

      I just issued the user a different phone and told Blackberry that if they wanted it, they could send a prepaid return shipping label along with the brand-new phone that they were going to overnight to us.  A week later, they did just that, but man did they fight it tooth & nail in the interim by just being cheap about it.  Go team Blackberry!

      Penicillin collectors are what's seriously driving up prices.  They keep buying the unsliced stuff, let it sit around for a couple of weeks, then flip it on eBay for ridiculous amounts.  What they're doing to the hobby is just awful.

      Today I had to run the AC and roll down windows in the truck, cuz the sun was way too hot...It was 51 degrees!!   To be fair the high earlier in the day was 64.

       

      I'm hoping the snow is over,...Gonna switch from pants back to shorts tomorrow.  It's supposed to be 67 degrees!
