  1. An upscaler. Preferably one of the RetroTINK kind.
  2. I'm preaching to the choir here, but the Lynx was an impressive piece of kit at the time. I think despite the more limited focus in its game types, its library is actually pretty solid too, to the point where I feel it's unfair to put it on the same level as the 7800--The Lynx was miles ahead of that. Comparing game lineups, I think the Lynx's greatest limiting factor compared to the Game Boy and Game Gear is that it's a very arcade-centric library. The Game Boy and Game Gear libraries on the other hand were modeled much more after the types of games were popular on the NES/Master System at the time. You also had more "longer" experiences on the competing platforms (like adventure games and RPGs). The Game Gear and Game Boy libraries just tended to be more varied overall compared to the Lynx. We have to remind ourselves that other factors also played a role in these handhelds' success at the time. The Lynx was the largest of the three. It ate batteries the fastest. It cost the most. It had a lot of things going against it, so the fact it even found the success it did is impressive. It didn't do as well as the Game Gear, but I also don't think it was a stain on Atari's history. Quite the contrary, honestly.
  3. NES Image Fight is a pretty gimped port and easy, IIRC. PCE and arcade versions however, they are quite difficult.
  4. That’s my main complaint with the game, the drab color palette. There are some cool tunnel sequences, but otherwise the whole thing is very muted. Thankfully, the music, gameplay/controls and framerate are solid. I love the boost mechanic—when you get going, you really fly through those courses.
  5. Hopefully that fixes it! Let us know. I love going completely overkill on PSUs. I have a 1000 watt in mine and because it’s barely ever tapped, its fan never kicks on. Sweet, sweet silence. 🤣
  6. Indeed it is… it actually was an arcade game.
  7. Oh damn.. I remember Hypertension. That was announced ages ago and I totally forgot about it.
  8. “Beaten” in 40 minutes if you credit feed. I feel like this game is nearly impossible though if you try to go for a 1CC. Love the cheese in this one. ”Boolitz”. 🤣
  9. Why is this in the PS3 section? Got my hopes up and thought there was a hack for non-BC PS3s that let users play any PS2 game, heh.
  10. Yeah, I wasn’t impressed by Next Tetris on any platform. The New Tetris on N64, though? Awesome stuff.
  11. Bug is one of the most tedious platformers ever made. The Clockwork Knights are legitimately solid though.
  12. JB definitely works. It’s nice having HuCard support (especially for us with older Everdrives), and the CD ISO functionality works great. One thing that feels weird is that I played Twin Cobra and it sounds way off. I don’t know if this is a DUO or Jailbreak thing, but the sound replication is definitely off from a normal PCE DUO.
  13. Sega went full software because it was either that or they go out of business. While they are healthy (for what they are) now, they absolutely 100% cannot create a new game console. The best they can muster anywhere close to that front is clone/mini systems based on existing, cheap hardware. None of which can replicate even the Saturn or Dreamcast with 99% accuracy.
  14. OG DC keyboard is fine if you were OK with the typical membrane keyboards of the day.
  15. As a response to the title itself... no. Just, no.
  16. Same here, the fact that it is also an arcade game was news to me recently.
  17. Superstars is a lot of fun. It's a lot like Generations where it just gets right to the point. There isn't even any voice acting and characters emote like they do in the 16-bit titles, which is a breath of fresh air (and charming). The game wasn't a looker (surprisingly), but it was still very well made. Honestly, after I was done with it, I came out of the experience thinking they should have just called it Sonic the Hedgehog 5. It would have probably made a bigger splash if Sega had done that. The game is good and is worthy of that name.
  18. Mars Matrix is excellent. It gets chaotic but learning to lightly tap your shield move to cut through impossible-to-pass patterns is key (I think they basically force you to learn this around Stage 4 or so, if I remember correctly). If you get stuck, you can buy superplays of each level in the game's shop. It's a great way to learn optimal strategies for each level.
  19. It depends on the model/era of controller. The early wireless ones had terrible d-pads. However, some of the later wired ones (like the one I have), the d-pad is perfectly fine. I have no issues using it. I also prefer the shape over the Xbox One/Series controllers. Due to there being no battery pack slot, the wired 360 pad is less bulky. Re: 30 vs 60fps. Games should be 60 when at all possible. The games simply feel better at that framerate. They are also easier on the eyes and are more responsive. 30 is by no means "unplayable"--anyone saying that is ridiculous--but games should strive to hit higher than that when at all possible, as it only improves the experience. Touching on the Dark Souls Remastered example, playing it on the Series X at 60 and then moving over to the Switch version at its inconsistent 30, takes some adjusting. And it's not just because of the choppier look, but the timing on various moves such as the parry are way more strict because you have a much smaller window of opportunity to get the timing right.
  20. Looks like you didn’t even have to wait a week. The JB firmware dropped today. Now, I don’t know if your CD issues have been fixed, but it looks like there’s now support for ISOs off the SD card. https://github.com/analoguejb/Analogue-Duo-JB
  21. I’d wager it can be fixed in firmware, but there hasn’t been an update since mid December.
