  1. There is the Atari store that is to have retro title and original content. Then there a partner services retro and indie services that include: Antstream Arcade AirConsole Game Jolt They can charge whatever price they want. That being said for a device that can sever as a full PC running Windows and be used to run any emulator is HUGE bonus and very attractive to many retro gamers I think it a very reasonable prices. The design and power in that footprint and the overall aesthetic of the console as well and the controllers (Atari Classic Joystick and Atari Modern Controller) is big draw vs being the alternative of a clunky setup using a laptop, micro form factor desktop PC or under powered ARM device running a custom Linux OS. There are many people to just want a device such as the Atari VCS that is already prebuilt as a retro gaming rig as opposed to finding all the parts and putting it all together themselves and the overwhelming surpassing of the target goal during the Indiegogo campaign as well as the the pre-orders proves that. Whatever your take on it is there is not any other console that is offering what the Atari VCS is in terms of content, services and serving as multi purpose universal retro gaming device.
  2. I am interested in the game. Please add me to the reservation list.
  3. The Atari VCS isn't trying to compete head to head with XBOX Series X and the PS5. It is supposed to be an alternative gaming experience focusing on retro titles and indie games. If you haven't figured that out yet then you are just being willfully ignorant of the fact that the Atari VCS (and Intellivision Amico) never have been intended to go intohead on head competitors with those other aforementioned consoles from Microsoft and Sony.
  4. Wow! Just saw the Atari VCS email today that they are guaranteeing delivery before before Dec 24th for pre-orders (not to be confused with Indiegogo orders that will ship in October). This is a huge announcement since that they are pinning down delivery to be in time for a Christmas for the launch of the console.

  6. There you again with disparaging indie devs. You say you mean one thing but you actual words you spoke speaks for themselves. The use of "serious developers who don’t want their quality Apps to be surrounded by amateur hour" seems to imply unless it is big corporation you don't think it can count as a profession quality product. Then you swing back to hate of the dev by proxy of your disdain for this new Atari and new console because they are affiliated with company you consider to be a sham since it hasn't released in 3 years and for a product that you feel is overpriced.
  7. That is what toxic fanboys do. Disparage anyone who gets affiliated with something that they don't support or agree with. It's all collateral damage to them. These indie devs are homebrewers who have have managed to turn their love and passion for this hobby into a job that they get paid for and then reinvest again those profits into this to produce more new games for us. It isn't fair to hurt them by making them enemy by proxy of your disdain even if you don't agree what that this new company that owns the Atari label is doing now. Peace.
  8. What's that I hear, clawing and gnashing of teeth? It's trigger day for all the Atari VCS haters to spew more vitriol since we just received the update email "Update #31 from Atari VCS: Game, Stream, Connect Like Never Before" about Atari VCS". Great update since now we know a launch title and have see actual footage of it and have the name of a 3rd party indie developer, Nickervision Studios who is affiliated with the and making games & content for the Atari VCS. http://www.nickervision.com/?r=slt-eml-bck-a2e0&utm_source=sailthru&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=bck-07012020update&utm_term= I love the art on this as is captures the feel of box & label art on old Atari 2600 games cartridges. Wonderful nod to past with a contemporary update.
  9. I thought that they sent out replacement carts to anyone who had a received a cart from the original run that had the bug. I got mine on the production run that was done with the corrected code.
  10. I found this power cycling LED. I imagine it would work just fine. https://www.adafruit.com/product/679
  11. I have a 2600 light sixer that I want to mod. I want to have a power led and would like to have one that changes colors like in this video. Does anyone know if this is a kit that is available to purchase (and where if so) or can someone advise on what would need to be purchased to accomplish this mod and instructions on how to install it (I would prefer a kit but if it isn't an option obtaining the parts and having instructions will suffice).
  12. Have you considered remaking the game for the Atari 7800? I know it would mean restarting but with the capabilities of the 7800 you could make it so much more than than the original. The game is amazing and this is type of game that the Atari 7800 is sorely missing. I still hope that if you ever do look to revisit this game concept that you code it for the 7800. With the shared hardware architecture between the 2 systems it should be quick for you to pickup 7800 coding. The 2600 version of your game is amazing and really pushes the boundaries of what one expects 2600 game play and capabilities are. So while your original version is a great proof of concept you could really make it shine by coding it on the 7800 and to take advantage of the 7800 XM Expansion Module that is very near completion now after all these years in developments.
  13. Just asking if it was possible. I know that 2600 games boot the 7800 console into to 2600 mode, but being an add on I wouldn't be surprised it you could make calls to the XM hardware even in 2600 mode if it was coded to allow access. I can see where it would be desirable if someone wanted to make a more complex 2600 game utilizing the XM additional RAM and had improved sound capabilities.
  14. Curt Vendel, can you or any of the others who have been developing and coding for the XM board answer this?
  15. One thing I will say is that I find the TIA sound to better than the sound produced on the Sega Master System that was just very plinky and high pitched. The 2600 had some a nice range of sound from low deep rumbles to high pitched sounds. Master System sound on the other hand just tends to make my ears want to bleed. That all being said as these demos have pointed out it is how you use the hardware, so if you are clever you can get a lot of mileage out of these chips with clever programming to mask their limitations. The music in Jr Pac-Man for the 2600, the warbling sound of Jr and gobbling of the pellet are some great examples of what the TIA can do and I always found those sounds very pleasing when playing the game.
  16. Just curious if 2600 games running on the Atari 7800 thorough the XM peripheral will be able to access the XM hardware and take advantage of those features to make more epic 2600 games.
  17. These are shipping to fill pre-orders now or are these more dev boards shipments?
  18. Honestly this as title is not my first choice. I feel that the Lynx already did this well and other would rather see something different. I would be more interested in seeing a title like Psycho Fox on the 7800. That being said what I really want is an original epic platformer along the scale of Super Mario Bros 3 so that we can see the hardware pushed and finally find out what thus console is really capable of.
  19. Ah ha, it is an Activision shell! I can see that on the backside of your cartridge. Did Imagic and Actvision have some sort of partnership to distribute games outside the US? Just odd that Imagic was using actual Activision shells since to the best of my knowledge they were 2 separate companies.
  20. Looking on eBay something the other day I found interesting. Apparently in some regions outside the US Fire Fighter was released with a green label and a shell that resembles the standard Atari 2600 US Activision cartridge shells (as opposed the silver label and tapered end that is was the standard for Imagic games in the US). I have never seen this variant before this and is it not listed on the Atariage software page. Just thought I would share this since I am sure many others haven't seen Imagic games that resemble this.
  21. Same here never heard of it, but it looks amazing Look like sort of an R-Type game. That would definitively fill that genre well by adding this to the Jaguar's library.
  22. How does one place an order for the game? I got the IntellivisionRevolution December 2019 Newsletter today and it made mention of the game, but when I go to the Intellivision Revolution store I don't see it there, nor can I find and details here in the thread or with a Google search on how to place a order. Does this mean that orders are not being taken yet since it says that the game will be released in 2020?
  23. Wow, that would be so awesome! Maybe you can see if you friend would be interested in porting it to the Jaguar. I know in recently years we have been graced by quite a few ST ports to the Jaguar due to the similar architecture of the 2 platforms.
  24. I just came across gameplay footage of Tenseiryuu: Saint Dragon today (first time that I had seen or heard of it) and my first thought was that it looked amazing and something would perform well as a port to the Jaguar. I know that it probably isn't ever likely to happen, but one can always hope & dream.
  25. Looks amazing! I hope this will see a physical release once it is complete.
