  1. Yeah, those have their place too. I added the FDS support into PowerPak. - PC emulators work great, they're free, you have save states, etc. - Flash carts run on a console but the FDS hardware is all emulated. A few games might not work, the sound may be a bit off. - FDSstick replaces the mechanical drive, everything else is original. - If you need the "full experience" buy all original hardware. There is some charm to whirring motors, flipping disks, etc that you can't get any other way. It's just a question of how low do you want to go, and FDSStick fills another niche.
  2. I've identified the pinout and put it on FDSStick's main page. I'm also getting some adapter boards built that will let you connect a RAM adapter cable to the rear port on the Twin Famicom.
  3. Probably the only way to do it (reliably) is to change the emulator yourself to make it do programmed moves. When I recorded my run, I modified the emulator to save/load/reset with gamepad buttons to make it easier to practice moves over and over.
  4. Abusing a glitch in the game. Pushing both A+B buttons where the track changes angles will fling you into the air. I made use of this several times in the run, specifically: (youtube time, not game time) 0:08, 0:53, 1:01, 1:09, 1:23, 1:32, 1:38, 1:49, 1:54. I don't remember what my best non-assisted score was... It was in the 1400s at least. That was back in the day when I was a kid with infinite patience
