It has been a couple of years, but definitely mentioned previously.

Today, it was mentioned here as well.

Always good to see development on the platform.

OK, a couple WIP screenshots were posted over 2 years ago. Either didn't catch that at all or don't remember

Knew I shoulda checked that homebrew thread though, I see now Atari Leaf commented it on earlier with the same video. Guess cuz I searched "Putt18" as 1 word nothing turned up from recent

  2. Looks like Video 61 has made this for 5200/Atari 8 Bit & is now working on a version for the 7800. If this is old news, forgive me.   Don't think it's exactly my dream game or anything personally, but I haven't noticed anything 7800 specific mentioned here so figured I'd share this video I just saw in my Youtube feed. Happy to see Lance working on new titles regardless & lots of respect to him for keeping at it for so long. I get nostalgic hearing his voice, it reminds me of my very 1st days of collecting, calling the store at my parent's house to order some games back in 1998-1999 haha

I was lucky enough to get my VB about 10 years ago before prices started to get stupid.

Ah yes, the touching the screen, always a good one to watch. I think it's natural instinct for kids now.

Jesus this is making me feel old. Lol

Knew some of you on here would feel my pain lol

Not too much longer before it'll be "Huh? You mean this round shaped thing is a GAME?"

    Ouch lol

... but seriously, how can you not know what it is even now with all the mini consoles selling millions...

Think the minis weren't out just yet..Who knows he was huge into games too lol I also catch myself about to say "The Nintendo" in front of people sometimes as if there's still one sole console from them hahaha

Slightly off topic but I took my virtual boy into work one night and the guy thought it was something out of a sc-fi movie. They loved it though. Being in the UK, they are as rare as rocking horse poo.

As for my lynx, my daughter finds it very interesting although abit big for her hands, she's 10. Her weapon of choice is a 3ds, so a big difference.

Haha. I'm in The States & the only time I ever saw a Virtual Boy myself was once in the 90's at a mall kiosk & I played the Tennis for a couple minutes. Don't remember ever seeing one again aside from maybe boxed at a game store.

My cousin's son a few years ago when he was like 8...when I introduced him to the Lynx I thought it was hilarious that his first reaction was to start touching the screen.

Also, one of the major defining moments of me realizing I have really became old was when her stepson who was about 15 around that same time (& is now 19-20), saw my consoles all set up & goes "Nintendo Entertainment System?!...What is THAT?!" in a super confused tone

Here's a prior discussion about it. Whatever you do, don't hate on the creator's box art or she will go APE$HIT on you...

WOWWWW That was the cringiest thread I've ever read on here.....or anywhere online in recent times for that matter lol

  7. Had one last night & thought it'd be fun to hear from some others that might have too...figured if the 7800 had managed to enter people's dreams, this'd prob be the ideal place to hear about it lol

In mine last night, I ordered a game online & the package came in. I can't remember what exactly the game was though, but when I opened it up I do remember that they got my order mixed up & sent me the wrong one.....it was a MORTAL KOMBAT 7800 HOMEBREW!

& the weirdness doesn't end there. I put the cart in, a title screen came on with real detailed, almost anime looking graphics. I had some "Voice Expansion Pack" that somehow didn't plug into the console, but underneath the CONTROLLER!  The game made use of it & although I can't remember a word that was said, these cutscenes that were playing after the title screen had dialogue being spoken that sounded pretty decent quality

I've had a few before, but one I have never forgot in my childhood was a dream that there was a Munsters 7800 game. I never even knew of Midnight Mutants existence until about a decade later either (But TBH it wasn't out just yet at the time of the dream )..and now fast forward to 2019 the new Munsters Pinball machine happens to be my new favorite & 2 locations by me have it haha

  8. Just wanting to be sure people clicked on the Youtube video of the death scream in the NES version of part II I ran into, that was kind of the gist of this post, I thought some of u might find it as funny as I did . Think some of u might have overlooked it? If not, carry on lol. Sorry I don't know how to let the large YT thumbnail show or embed it, never tried. Just saw the "add link" option & did that

You may as well grab the updated rom to play via emulator it since the 7800 cart version was, as the title proclaims, impossible due to a bug putting required pieces behind unsearchable items. IM was the second game for my Commodore 64 that I ever owned.

Oh yea, I've long known Impossible Mission was literallly "Impossible" lol Cool, I knew of the Commodore 64 when I was a kid, but never saw or played one or knew much at all about computer games of any kind until my family got our first IBM PC in early-mid 90s

  10. I ADORE this game. This & Food Fight are my #1s on the system. TBH might even like this more. Food Fight was my fav forever, but only about 4 years ago did I get a copy of Mario Bros & I think this was even more addicting to me. Big shame I missed out when I was a kid & never even knew of it's existence on the 7800 at the time, my sister & I woulda loved it

Newer arcade in my area has the cabinet, and I've been the high score on it (Game doesn't save, but they keep track of customers records) I'm far from a pro, but I owe alot of it to playing this version so much. Same story at the arcade, I can't stay away from it, literally hours on it every visit lol

  11. I never knew or at least don't remember hearing there was a sequel. In fact, I only knew the original as a 7800 game in my childhood from seeing it on the commercial, and during my teens when I began collecting, bought it & got to play it. It wasn't until a little later that I learned it had home computer & other console versions.

Anyways I've been researching DOS games lately, went to look at footage on YT & discovered this on the NES. Figured some of u on here might get a kick out of it like I did lol Not too many funnier death screams come to mind ATM

  12.

Thanks! I plan on going through the entire 7800 library over time including the homebrews in the AA store. Trying to finish up my buyer's guide aimed at folks new to the hobby via Retron 77 purchase or first time real Atari owners that goes through the 82 catalogue. Right now I'm not so patiently waiting for my 3 hour playthrough of Super Monaco GP to upload; want to cap footage for my next review, but I'm afraid to flake out my computer this far into the upload process.

    Anyone here have a preference?

    Karateka?

    Fight Night?

    Commando?

    Something else?

Out of all those, Fight Night for sure, because I've always seen people say how horrible & unplayable it was, but just a few days ago stumbled on to a YT video of someone playing it & beating it pretty quickly. So I was just thinking of giving that game another chance. Actually think I only tried it once after I picked it up years ago & it's been sitting on the shelf ever since lol

  13. Hope everyone is well. I experimented while recording to see just how bad I was at killing the pterodactyl. Spoiler. I'm really bad at it.

Just watched & subscribed..Rly like your review style

I love Joust, but in my 30 or so years playing it, never once killed the Pterodactyl nor even tried haha Going to have to try & change that soon

The 7800 just doesn't get much love on Youtube, would love to see some more in the future too!

  14. Something interesting I noticed on that O'Sheas list. They list basketball for the 7800. They had to mean BasketBrawl right? And if they did, then getting that game for .80 NIB was a massive steal! I'm lucky to have the cart and manual loose and I do think the rarity on that game needs to be bumped up a few.

Nope NM I'm sure they actually mean One-on-One Basketball. I forget about that game...

Yea I ordered One On One that very year, never got Basketbrawl until a couple years ago

One on One was one of the handful of 7800 games I had as a kid, and seeing the backboard breaking scene after weeks of playing it with my sister is one of my most memorable moments in gaming history lol

  15. What a TRIP!!!

Wow man I was off by 8 cents :-D but I can still remember it like it was yesterday: their little logo...the toothbrushes...&the Mr Potato Head massagers lmao forgot about those at first

Even for it's time the prices seemed way too good to be true. Around 1997 or so I remembered seeing screenshots on I think AtariHQ.com of all these 7800 games I never knew of or had seen before & wished so bad to get another console & pick some of them up, but finding the games in the wild in my area was impossible, only 2600 showed up & a couple 5200, and from what I remember Ebay wasn't like it is now, or I just rly wasn't too knowlegeable about it anyway. My parents didn't even have internet at home then, just a couple free AOL dial-up trial periods hahaha Loose 2600 carts were mainly $1 a piece anywhere then, so NIB for even less was amazing

Once I stumbled on that site around 1999 I was like NOOOO WAAAAY! I can make this happen after all! & thus my 7800 collecting began..Fast forward to 2015, I made it to every original US release aside from Tank Command :woozy: One day.....one day.....lol

    ;)

I bought only one copy of each at the time.

Wow that takes me back. So it was 80 cents?? I remembered it is 88 cents for some reason & have been saying that forever. Musta been 1999 I ordered my 1st wave of 7800 games in my collection from them. I also remember seeing electric toothbrushes for sale on their home page

Believe me I feel your pain, still pissed at myself over it.

  17. One has to wonder if the sudden surge in price for BallBlazer is due to the demand for the hokey pokey? It certainly turned itself around...but then...that's what it's all about. Ok, that's enough for today. :-D

Yea I'm sure it is & expected the prices to go up just because of it. Rly sucks knowing I bought my Ballblazer NIB for 88 cents in 1999 from O'Shea LTD...Those prices seem so unreal now, but still feel lucky to have jumpstarted my 7800 collection with about half the library that year from them

  18. Just set an alert for Ballblazer on eBay. You'll be able to get one for cheaper. I got one for $17.95 inclusive of shipping the other day.

Yea that's what I was thinking..I have one, and honestly I haven't even played it since like 1999 when I 1st ordered it for my collection, but I still can't go through with sacrificing it lol

  19. Best bet might be buying a 7800 game lot on eBay for a donor chip, seems the cheapest way to get a cart with one in it. Thats my plan at some point.

:? Cheapest Ballblazer on Ebay now is going for $30...so unless I can dig around online & find it for slightly cheaper , combined with the shipping costs guess I'm looking at close to $90 for this game ??

  20. Was planning on finally picking it up soon, but just now realized that although it has been listed in the store there's no "add to cart" option & apparently it's out of stock :( :_(

Any word on when more might come in, if they even are expected anytime in the near future? Been wanting this game forever, but don't have any carts to sacrifice & would rather just buy one with the chip already in it
