  1. There was some old discussion about this font stuff before: Also the official reason why small caps exist at least in the typeface world is shown below in this screenshot: As for why TI uses small caps, I think it's mainly from their earlier days of being a calculator company before they got into computers, and small caps is used very often in displaying math formulas and looks better when screens were originally just one line led displays also.
  2. I wonder if anyone ever made a tiny PCboard adapter to convert a uson to sop. I only seen uson to dip adapters and sop to dip ones.
  3. Microsoft just open-sourced DOS 4 as well a release of beta binaries, disk images, and PDFs from the archives! https://www.hanselman.com/blog/open-sourcing-dos-4
  4. I always wanted to make a mod and try, but there was an idea once to have multiple vdp processors, the tms9918a can infact have the video out go into the video in. So you have two vdp chips each with their own 16k and when you use the transparent color on the master chip those pixels display the data from the secondary vdp processor. I will see if I can upload the datasheet design spec later on this weekend in a new thread for this application of multiple screens, useful to expand the depth and graphics like for multi layer sprites, but it was never done to my knowledge just drafted out on paper as a design idea.
  5. Today, marks a full 11 months of freedom here in Canada. I made amazing progress so far in restarting and rebuilding my life and I am looking forward to celebrating my 55th birthday soon, which falls on Mother's Day. So, let's try to complete the GoFundMe https://www.gofundme.com/f/garyopa-restarting-his-life
  6. Well getting there slowly, the first part came in to build this unit: The Uno board Sadly, the 64K ram chip, most likely will not arrive until the first week of June from China. The rest of the parts should come in by tomorrow (the shield board) and monday/tuesday (the sockets, 74 logic chips, caps, resistors)
  7. Thank you Colin, as usual your vast archive of TI history and making it available to us is greatly appreciated.
  8. Just follow all the traces in the wiring for the 156. It goes to the 138 and the 259. And is the key in the memory mapping also with the diodes. The 156 along with the 241 that it is connected with as well is important it what gives you the rambo option and allows the ram to appear at the 6000 space in 8k chunks instead of the 5800 space in 2k pages. Also maybe the reason that led lights up right away when you turn on power if that circuit is messed up. As for the little circle it just means the line is active low, enabled, don't worry about that just map out the lines see my screenshot best to view it via a large screen not the mobile or print it out the schematic.
  9. Well CALL is used in Mini-Memory and XB to launch Assembly, so you could say that is "part" of it as well. I lost my original one long time ago, would love to get a used one again just for my TI Bookshelf in my room, but they are like over $110 usd now, crazy prices.
  10. Just noticed your message about this, as I been reviewing all the pages as recently @RickyDean mailed me one of his extra boards. I been making up a list of parts I need to order from mouser canada and amazon, and I was wondering if you built yours yet or did you grab a extra board from Ricky as well? Let me know, as I located in Scarberia that place to East of Toronto, maybe we can get together as well for coffee, since I have not been in contact much with local fellow TI99'ers. Looking forward to hearing from you. Send me a PM if you wish. Take Care, and enjoy the rest of your day here in GTA at least the sun is out today, but still on the chilly side of the weather!
  11. The computer part is not too bad of a price compared to others I seen listed in the past. The bad part with this auction is that the keyboard is for sale by itself, not included in the computer part, and at a very high price as well, which is really crazy!.
  12. Github has approved me to have sponsors badge. Looking forward to getting sponsors, as I expand my repositories and start coding an amazing new TMS9900 Assembly Language Retro Project for the Texas Instruments TI99 Home Computers! https://github.com/sponsors/gary99opa
  13. Here another great reason not to have your tv connected to your Internet: https://arstechnica.com/gadgets/2024/04/the-spam-came-from-inside-the-house-how-a-smart-tv-can-choke-a-windows-pc/ Btw @OLD CS1 any luck with your Roku issues?
  14. Can't have plastic lids anymore, and just like the paper straws, it's worse with hot coffee after a few slips it becomes soggy and you start to taste bits of it in your drink.
