  1. There are variants. The standard controller with the skinnier cable and black keypad buttons has a clicker d-pad in my experience. That's the one I use for Ultra Vortek, the fighting game, because I find it easier to pull off special moves with it. That said, one of my thick cord/grey keypad button controllers (like the one you described) has a mushy d-pad, not stiff at all. I assume it's just been well used over the years And I actually like the feel of that one for most games. But I have yet another in that style that I bought new old stock from Best Electronics years ago, and it is really stiff feeling. So, Idk what the answer is, man. The d-pad will break in with usage though. But at the end of the day, Atari's quality control wasn't exactly legendary in those days. Haha
  2. Do you guys know if Breakout is compatible with the Jag rotary controller?
  3. There's a lot of great Jag info on this site, and a number of game reviews as well. Worth bookmarking for the Jag enthusiast. http://www.atarijaguar.co.uk/p/main-page.html?m=1
  4. Just picked up an old wooden cassette case from the 90s. It fits Jag games perfectly. :D

  5. All of the aftermarket examples I've seen for sale have not been embossed, sadly. Hence, the issue of difficulty pressing buttons. When I was researching 3rd party overlays a while back, I saw some in a thread here that were embossed, but it was posted a few years ago, and I haven't seen them for sale anywhere unfortunately. 6. Yes, recently I needed a replacement pin connector for my Jag, and remembered Best. Hadn't bought from them in years, but I've always been amazed by their massive stock of Atari parts. I ended up buying more than just the connector of course, including a new controller. All the prices on their site were up to date. I will say that shipping wasn't cheap, but they packaged everything very well, and it arrived in just 2 days across the country. I think they only ship via priority or an even higher service. But that could just be because I ordered quite a bit of stuff.

  8. Jeez, Atari Karts is fun. I'm not even a cart racer guy, and the game certainly has its share of niggling issues, but dang if it isn't fun as heck. I love it and I'm hooked. And I never would have bothered to check it out had they not included it in this compilation.
  9. I recently ordered Star Wars, Millipede and Missile Command from AA's "trak-ball series," and it is next level awesome. I mean, I could use the trak-ball with the original carts, but only in joystick mode, and that kind of sucked. This is the way these games were meant to be played. Well done, fellas. I'm like a pig in slop in my gaming nook tonight. :D

  10. Pretty cool that guys have done this. Windows 98 and DosBox can run on Xbox Series X/S now. Covered by Digital Foundry. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lrpkFuKh4CI
  11. There is definitely a crashing bug in the GBA cart. I don't think it's just in the first game either, I seem to recall it happening in the second as well. But admittedly, it's been many years since I played it, so that might be off. This happened across the board for everyone if I recall, it was a widespread issue that was discussed on forums at the time it was contemporary. The thing is, the workaround is just to save frequently. Inevitably, you will lose some progress at some point, but frequently saving makes it palatable. It was just a random thing too. Sometimes I'd go hours without the crash, and sometimes 5 minutes. I don't know how they screwed that up so badly that it wasn't caught prior to release. Otherwise, it's great, faithful ports of the games with no notable issues otherwise.
  12. A buddy of mine recently picked up a lot of 2600 games, and he's not into the system, but knew I was, so he hooked me up. It was mostly common stuff I already had, but then there were these two. First time I've ever seen Chuck Wagon in the flesh actually.
  13. Perhaps he meant non-weapons based? Yeah, the DC Soul Calibur was a revelation at the time, and it still plays like a masterpiece to this day. There aren't a ton of 3D fighters that I can think of on the DC though. Off hand, other than what's been mentioned, I can think of Dead or Alive and Fighting Vipers 2. Did one of those 3D KoF games from that era make it to the DC? Anyway, while I haven't played Project Justice, Rival Schools was an excellent fighting game, and I've read nothing but good things about the sequel. But as far as 3D fighting games in general, Soul Calibur on the DC is legendary while Project Justice is barely a footnote outside of hardore fighting game circles.
  14. I have a Super NT and a Mega SG with the attachments for Game Gear and Master System. They are awesome machines, I love them. But while those products were available to purchase from their site for a long time, many of their products take ages to come out, and it you dont preorder, you may be out of luck. And their stuff on ebay goes for a fortune. As far as the OP's dilemma, I hope they get you your money back soon. I believe they're based in Andorra or somewhere in that area, so I'd imagine there may be a hold up when it comes to refunds, so hopefully it goes through soon. While it may take a year or however long for them to release the Lynx adaptor, it will come eventually. They just take forever to release anything. It sucks, but that's just how they operate. People still buy the crap out of their stuff though, so it's not hurting their business any. Just requires patience.
  15. I love Rival Schools on the PS1, and would love to play this sequel, but it is ridiculously expensive nowadays.
  16. While I cant say for sure on that game, I can tell you that on some games, you can buy an updated version for Series X for cheaper than the full game in the MS store. As in, if you already owned the game on the XB1, you can download the Series X version for a portion of the full price. I did this with one of the CoD games and another game which I forget off hand. It was only 10 bucks more to unlock the full Series X version. As far as differences, yeah, on CoD there was improved HDR lighting and frame rate. While playing the fighting game Dead or Alive 6, not only was the framerate improved, much smoother, but much better graphical enhancements as well. The Dolbyvision feature on my tv kicked in and the game looks much better than on XB1.
  17. P4s are perfect for XP machines, excellent chips. I loved them during the aughts, very snappy. I looked into using one for making a Windows 98 machine a little while back, but most of the revisions of it have hyper threading which would cause issues with 98. I believe the earlier versions of the chip though, 2000-02 or so, would be perfectly compatible, but I decided a P3 would be more suitable for a 98 machine.
  18. Having been enjoying the Switch Lite these last few months, I got curious about moving up to the regular model. A local shop had an Oled model in stock, and I used a 20% off coupon, so it was a pretty good deal. And they put some brand new joycons in for me because the old one had a drifty stick. It's surprisingly not as large in my hands as I thought it would be compared to the lite, and having the tv connection flexibility is nice. However, I missed having a d-pad because I love fighting games. Someone recommended these Hori sticks, so I thought I'd try them, and fortunately my local Best Buy happened to have them on sale. They add some girth to grip onto as well which I like the feel of for playing certain games. I passed the Lite on to my wife, and she's been loving it. She got some Harry Potter game for it. We've got a newborn, and have been sleeping in shifts, so the Switch has been perfect for us during the late nights.
  19. I've never actually played Doom on the 64, but I did get the game on Steam a few years back and loved it. However, after having attempted to play the Quake games on the 64, I don't think that style of game lends itself well to the 64 controller and overall feel, for me at least. I just much prefer a keyboard and mouse for those 90s maze-based FPS games. It is an awesome game though, I really liked it on Steam. I believe it has since been ported to most of the modern consoles as well.
  20. Ha! Yeah, it's a great shoot em up, but not exactly a console seller. I think there are some differences between the DC and PS3 versions, but that's anecdotal. I haven't looked into the game in a long time. I never had a region-free setup for DC the way I did with Saturn, so I've only ever played the PS3 version.
  21. I hadn't touched the 64 in a few months, but I recently picked up a new wireless controller for it on the recommendation of a buddy who's really into the 64, and I tell you, it feels really great to play with, like a modern controller. Just throwing it out there in case anyone's interested. I've been playing a lot of F-Zero X with it. Awesome racer by the way. https://www.amazon.com/Retro-Fighters-Brawler64-Wireless-N64-Controller/dp/B08TDNTWYQ/ref=mp_s_a_1_6?crid=CC344SW7VK97&keywords=brawler+64+wireless&qid=1644283240&sprefix=brawler+64%2Caps%2C130&sr=8-6
  22. I picked up the PS3 version back when that came out around 10 years ago. Awesome game. Excellent rocking soundtrack too.
  23. They clearly say 3doi all over them, even on the discs. Not sure why you would need additional stickers to denote that they're reproductions. Or why guys here are giving you such a hard time about it. That said, they're not something I'd be interested in, and to be frank, I'm not sure why they'd even bother manufacturing these in the first place. It's not like there are tons of 3do collectors out there to market them to, and it's not like the prices of originals are exorbitant or anything. But regardless, the whole ethics lecture in this thread seems a bit much considering that the company marked 3doi in multiple places throughout each game.
  24. Well, I bought it originally when it first came out as an XB1 exclusive. But this switch version is like the one that came out a year or two later for the PS4, the director's cut. I'm not sure of the differences as I haven't played it yet. It was a cool find though. Came with the soundtrack on a little mini CD and an art booklet, nice package.
