  1. I'm down to only Scorp-Ed Earth now. This one says "None" for the goal but appears to be based on number of scorpions destroyed. I got to a point where no more scorpions would appear. This happened twice. Not sure if that's a bug? 🐛🦂🕹️ Has anyone here beat Scorp-Ed Earth?
  2. Here's an early gameplay video of the Switch version for those interested. It looks pretty cool!
  3. I finally beat Flea Survive (!) and have now unlocked the remaining VCS Challenges. I have three to go: Flea Survive XL (34), Scorp-Ed Earth (39) and Exponential Growth (40). I'm going to try and clear these this weekend. The 10 additional VCS exclusive challenges are much more difficult than the 30 base challenges available on other platforms. Good luck to anyone trying to get that co-op challenge achievement. 🤣😂 Also, a few of the challenges ("Scorp-Ed Earth" as an example) don't display the goal. I forget the message offhand, but it's something like Translation Error. Has anyone else noticed it?
  4. Yeah, this isn't exactly what I was hoping for BUT I do understand their desire to monetize their properties via the store. I have nearly a complete set of 7800 games but picked up Desert Falcon just to compare. At least the emulation seems well done!
  5. I saw a photo of Basketbrawl in store but I didn't see it on mine. If true, that would lend support to speculation that Atari will sell 7800 roms. Hopefully the licensing for all of those great arcade ports is somehow transferrable!
  6. I tried to launch this with a USB loaded with 7800 roms but no joy. I was hoping there would be a check at launch. LOL. I'm thinking this and the DOS emulator may have been accidentally included in the update.
  7. Feel free to add me, if interested: SABERTOOTH6124 I look forward to seeing this implemented in games!
  8. Here's a link to the Atari Games division page which includes the current (2021) IP list for Atari. I think many would be surprised by the IP list. In particular, how few Lynx and Jaguar titles appear on the list. Of course, as has been noted, the Atari Games arcade titles from 1984 to their buyout by Midway are mostly owned by WB. https://www.atari.com/atari-games/
  9. I worked retail at a small video game chain in high school circa 94-95. These were not originally shrink wrapped when shipped from Atari. That doesn't mean the system isn't new, it was just shrink-wrapped by a reseller at some point. Anyway, hope you enjoy your Jaguar. Wolfenstein 3D is a great game on the system!
  10. Yes, that's how I've been playing. You can configure it for dual stick. It's the only way to play!
  11. From the podcast, trackball/mouse support on their way to VCS and PC for Centipede. Global and friend leaderboards on their way to VCS.
  12. A few important things confirmed on this episode: First, mouse/trackball support is coming to PC and VCS versions of Centipede Recharged. Second, global and friend leaderboards are coming to VCS. They are still working on the functionality but will push as soon as it's ready. Apparently, they don't want that feature to slow the release. We may see it with Black Widow at release but, if not, it sounds like the feature will be applied to the series via updates.
  13. Ive only made it through the first 32 solo. I'm stuck at "Flea Survive." The VCS exclusive challenges strike me as next level.
  14. @Killjoyy27 takes it! (Boy that was fast!) I hope that you enjoy the game and share a high score!
  15. I just won a Centipede Recharged redemption code for VCS from the AtariVCS Twitter feed. As I already have the game, if anyone here wants the code, post here "PM Sent" and send me a PM for the code. First come first served. Once redeemed, all I ask is that the user makes a high score run and post it to the thread by @Mockduck I make no representation that the redemption code works. Not running a customer service line for a freebie. Just want to pass along to a fellow VCS user. Cheers!
  16. I downloaded the album. It's very good and I'm looking forward to hearing the other tracks in their gaming context. Hopefully she will do a limited vinyl run.
  17. I received a reply on YouTube that leaderboards are on their way to the VCS version for Centipede and upcoming Recharged titles.
  18. I hope they add high quality posters for the series.
  19. I agree 💯! It's too early to say for certain but it seems like Atari may be turning a corner under it's new CEO. The returned focus to console gaming, move away from free-to-play and abandonment of seedier ventures are all positive signs. Plus, they seem to be taking some ownership/interest in the VCS, which didn't appear to be the case previously. If this first series is any indication, things are looking up for Atari fans and the brand.
  20. My full review of Centipede: Recharged over at atari.io: https://forums.atari.io/blogs/entry/149-012-centipede-recharged-is-retro-modern-bug-blasting-fun/
  21. After playing several rounds of Centipede, I thought I'd take MC for another spin. They updated to version VCS1.03 and the Classic Joystick now works wirelessly. I was never able to use it prior - just a modern controller. I didn't discern other improvements. Edit: It is also now a Featured Game next to Centipede in the store.
  22. The game plays extremely well on the PS4 Pro. Here are some differences that I've noted between the PS4 and VCS versions. - PS4 has animated splash screens for Atari, Adamvision and SneakyBox; VCS is static - PS4 has animated backgrounds in menu; VCS is static - PS4 has global, friend and local leaderboards; VCS has just local leaderboards at the moment - PS4 has it's Trophy system; VCS uses Achievements that are only visible in game. - VCS has 10 additional challenges, a total of 40; PS4 has 30. The look and feel of in-game play appears to be the same. I may take some video capture and do a side-by-side. With the animated splash and menu screens, and global and friend leaderboards, I'd say PS4 feels more polished than the VCS version. I hope Atari implements it's friend and leaderboard system for the VCS soon. This would bring it on par for me. Otherwise, the 10 additional exclusive challenges on the VCS may give it the edge for some. Gameplay is great on either platform.
  23. Confirming that the VCS version has 40 Challenges. I've played through #32 ("Dangerous Shrooms") and can see the remaining locked titles. At the end of the list it loops back to #1 ("Pyramid"). On the PS4 version it ends at #30 ('Holiday Spirit"). So, 31-40 are the VCS exclusive challenges. 1. Pyramid 2. Trap 3. Bomberman 4. Indirect Approach 5. Wilderness 6. Flea Extermination 7. Spider Invasion 8. Arrows 9. A Clear Path 10. Super Centipede 11. Don't Kill a Centipede 12. Four Chances 13. Scorpion Extermination 14. Explosive Specialist 15. Moment of Peace 16. Hinterland 17. Behind the Wall 18. Swarm 19. Mirror 20. Beachhead 21. Mycophagist 22. Demolition Expert 23. Ancient Centipede 24. Flea Invasion 25. Vise 26. Barrens 27. Vulcano 28. Line of Death 29. Don't Kill A Scorpion 30. Holiday Spirit 31. Poison Centipede 32. Dangerous Shrooms 33. Flea Survive 34. Flea Survive XL 35. Raining Fleas 36. A Rocky Start 37. Spider Town 38. Centipocalypse 39. Scorp-Ed Earth 40. Exponential Growth
