  1. Working from home. Using VNC over VPN so I can ARD into a computer that used to be right next to me in my office. Turning slightly to my right somehow seemed easier than all of this does.

  2. Very cool video on the making of Prince of Persia: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sw0VfmXKq54

This was a great video.  Love seeing the games designer/creator insights.  Thanks for sharing...

  3. It's raining, and the ceiling is leaking again. On the plus side, the rain has quieted down the bees that have taken up residence in my bathroom ceiling. #apartmentliving

  4. I was going to stop at the donut shop on the way home, but their sign only said "Ope". So I guess I'll try again later.

On the other hand, Nathan and Satan sounds like a somewhat cool band name.

  7. I wonder if Adobe ever tests their software before unleashing it on the public? Probably saves them a lot of time and money to have paying customers find all of their bugs for them. #IHateAdobeMustBeADayThatEndsInY

That article is a good start, although it only scratches the surface. Their support for enterprise and educational customers is absolutely abysmal. When they pushed out CC 2019 a year ago, the licensing broke for labs. They've since removed their document warning administrators, but it said, in part:

"What happens if I try to update lab environments to Creative Cloud 2019?

First, please do not attempt to upgrade lab environments to Creative Cloud 2019 at this time as, unfortunately, Creative Cloud 2019 is not currently available for labs. If you attempt to update shared environments (labs and classrooms) to Creative Cloud 2019, the apps installed on a machine will run in trial mode."

They posted this after CC 2019 shipped. It took months for the licensing issues to get sorted out.

Photoshop 2020 was a train-wreck of bugs and crashes when it shipped in the fall. We're still patching it.

Look on the bright side. The CEO that was running things at Adobe now works for Maxon. So we got that going for us. Which is nice. That and the total consciousness on our death beds thing.

  8. Finally cancelled Netflix today after months of not watching anything on it. Felt good! Tempted to sign up for other streaming services so I can feel good about cancelling them, too.

Just finished up the third season of Stranger Things.  Netflix has been on my shitlist, though, ever since they started autoplaying video in all their clients.  They can right FOAD for that as far as I'm concerned.

      digdugnate

we cancelled our Netflix after 15 or so years this month as well- there's just no value in it for us.  Disney+, on the other hand.....

I also canceled Hulu because I just don't watch any network shows at all. All the stuff I wanted to see (mainly gaming & wrestling) is on YouTube.

      Gorf Arcade?  HELL YEAH!!!

@CPUWIZ   Me neither!  Even when I ate meat, I thought turkey sucked...A lump of dry flavorless tranquilizer so bad you had to add gravy before it was even lightly edible!  No thanks.

Stay safe, I know what it is like to get rained on by ash.  I still don't know how the hell they saved our town, EVERYTHING around it burned to the ground.  Most insane experience ever, looking at the burn map, closing in.  My entire town of 7000 people was completely surrounded by the fire.  I guess enough super rich people live here and it is the home of Johnny Cash. LOL

CPU I am so glad you are safe. It's been relatively quiet up here in NorCal (this year) compared to where you are at. Of course it gets a bit louder with all the generators running during the mandatory power outages

Johnny Cash. How appropriate. "I fell into a burning ring of fire..."

  13. Well, that was disappointing. I thought it was supposed to be "The Great Make-Out".

Evacuations are in Porter Ranch. The fires closer to Santa Clarita are isolated hot spots. The wind has died down, and is blowing away from us. I-5 is open, and it wouldn't be if the fire was threatening to jump it.

The freaky thing about the swimming pools sloshing is that the water isn't what's moving - it's the swimming pools.

Make sure your RAID enclosure's ventilation is working the way that it should.  The last time I had two drives go bad in one array, the (likely) culprit turned out to be a dead fan.

I'm waiting for that to start happening with my RAIDs, as I bought all of the drives at the same time.  I do have one RAID backup to another near identical unit, though, and then they are also backed up to external drives..

  24. Waiting for the inevitable Mac Pro disappointment. Will it be a complete no-show? Shipping "later this year"? Shipping "early next year"? Or another design that's so bad it boggles the senses? https://www.macrumors.com/2019/06/03/live-from-wwdc-2019/
