  1. This first picture is great; kids having fun on obsolete systems. Also, kind of symbolic for me as I'm sure the first time I get to play a Virtual Boy, I will be like a hyper little kid; I recently got to try a Vectrex for the first time and my wife said I was being quite a spaz about it. Morgan
  2. We are trying to be patient waiting for pics to be posted, but truth be told, we are just jealous because we had to stay home this weekend and all you lucky sumunabastidges are taking your farginna sweet time sharing the love. Chicky, you can just kick it by the pool and send pics at your leisure; everyone else...chop, chop! Morgan
  3. Someone was looking for one of these a while back: http://www.shopgoodwill.com/viewItem.asp?ItemID=6534961 It's up to over a benjamin now, and lots of shipping as it is heavy, but the item is in Vegas, so a local could save on shipping. Morgan
  4. I checked this out; if that isnt Levi Buchanan, then it's his even cooler twin. He tells alot of personal stories though and I have yet to find a smoking gun to say for sure. People should really check out the Retroist. About half the shows are game related, split evenly between specific games and systems. Since I know most of this info already, it is the non gaming shows that really blow my mind. I have listened to his shows on the Smurfs, Cabbage Patch, Gremlins, etc, where I had very little initial interest and was fascinated with all the info, history, songs, commercials, etc that he comes up with. Great stuff! Morgan
  5. Tried one more time tonight; mission accomplished!!! Morgan
  6. OK, First thanks to phaxda for graciously supplying the cartridge; playing this on real hardware is soooo much better than Stella. First try was 19,200, second try 35,620. I would have been happy to beat the third place Twin Galaxies score, so I am stoked to get this far even though I will never roll it as my old eyes are really needing their first pair of glasses - kudos to Oyama and others blowing the "world records" out of the water!!! Just noticed something weird in the picture, I guess my Iphone camera is picking up the IR from the Wii sensor bar, kinda cool. I will try more tommorrow; next goal is 50K! Morgan
  7. phaxda graciously and generously hooked me up with Deadly Duck in a hella hurry, so I can participate in this weeks HSC sans emulator. Thank you so much!!!! Morgan
  8. OK, just for reference, here is what would happen if I found a cheap deal on Crazy Climber. Once I had it in hand, I would rub it all over my face, smell it, bask in it's glory, brag about it on AA, play the hell out of it for a few weeks and, yes, then it would go on eBay. I would run the auction with a $9.99 starting bid, cause it's more fun and, in my reality gets a better price. Half the money would go in my house down payment fund and the rest would go to buy a pantload of other games I have been wanting to get. I have only about eighty 2600 carts now and would rather fill in my collection with a bunch of 4-7 rarity stuff, save the "holy grails" for last, and the real commons for impulse buys at gaming shows, etc. That is how I collect. I buy four games at the goodwill and sell one to finance the other three, making sure my hobby doesn't impact my family too much. That is not calling anyone else way of collecting irresponsible, just saying what works for me. Morgan
  9. One podcast I enjoyed, but other apparently did not, was the now defunct Retrocity (IGN) with Levi Buchanan. He did the show solo, avoiding the typical "morning zoo" BS, and it was only 20 minutes or so. But more actual retro game info in 20 minutes than in an hour of Retronauts. It is still available on iTunes. Morgan
  10. Well, hell! Now I am pissed off again. I won a lot of 2600 games on eBay with Deadly Duck and had to get a refund from Paypal 'cause the deadbeat never sent it. I prefer not to use the emulator for HSC and also I would have had some practice in. Damn bastard!! I guess since it is the last game of the season, I will settle and make a booty call to Stella. Quack, Quack!! Morgan
  11. HMmmm...they also have another one a few dollars cheaper ($24.99 instead of $27.99) that doesn't have the flip screen, but does appear to have a D-pad. Link below. Morgan http://www.geeks.com/details.asp?InvtId=DVG-06A-2GB-WHT&cpc=RESX
  12. That is my strategy. I think it is less, maybe 6 or 8 seconds. I can't stand trying to get through, burning time, then hitting one anyway and losing 15 seconds, for me better to take the quick hit and make sure I catch the elevator! That is key OK, tonight I will assess the position of the elevator before I hit the beach balls, then decide what to do. When I get to the top beach balls I will check the counter and decide what to do. So, if I am on screen eight and I take a biplane to the forehead, I start again on screen eight right?? Once I know I am on screen nine and double time points, I think my strategy will change a bit; I am really just pushing to get the 35K patch level and I will be able to put this one down for a long while. Morgan
  13. I had always wondered what caused this to happen. Saw it a # of times but never knew what it was. Back in the day, I had read that this happened if you hit the swirl in midair too many times consecutively. I found this to be true; if you hit it for the fourth time in a row it HSWWSH'ed consistently. So in attempting to get a "world-class" score, I limited myself to three time in a row. I never paid any attention to where I was positioned, though. I would test this out, but the problem is that I now suck at this game and cant even get three in a row. I can get the effect in the way described above, however. Does someone with skills want to try to hit it four times and avoid the "ghost of Yar" as a test?? BTW, as my memory serves, my best score back in the day was 673,000 and change. I can't get over 150K now, but I think I spent the whole summer of '82 on Yar's revenge. Morgan
  14. This game keeps kicking my ass. I got through seven levels untouched - absolutely perfect, and lost it all in a big hurry. A slight improvement, though....29,200. I have to go back to the drawing board on the double bouncy balls; I was following the advice someone left about just hitting them to save time, but theres another batch of them near the top, so you lose a total of 20 off the counter which doesnt leave many points when you finally catch the little bastard. Morgan
  15. It's a minor annoyance CB; it actually hurts pretty bad every once and a while, and I hate not being active; but it ain't getting me down; not with the perspective being provided to me by you and an offline friend. At least I am mostly a desk jockey now, so it wont cost me work time. Thanks for the good thoughts. big hugz, keep fighting - Morgan

  16. Thanks for the vid. Damn I love the graphics. Reminds me of many games. Sure wish I could have played this one in the arcades I used to haunt. Eric, Don't know how old you are; I have been trying to find anyone who remembers the "Cream n' Machine" arcade that was in Salmon Creek back in the day. The day being like, '82-'87. Morgan
  17. I saw it at the same Wunderland, one time. I didn't play it, as I was there watching mine and other peoples kids kids and needed to keep an eye on where they were going as it's not the best neighborhood after dark. Next time we went back it was gone. The video games seem to be less and less every trip to Wunderland, with ticket-spewing junk in their place. Sigh. Morgan
  18. Half a dozen more tries; I am now up to 29,650. Morgan
  19. Thats a hell of deal and not easy to find. Is it the one in the pic, cause it looks very clean? Does it work? How does it play? Sigh, I keep dreaming of finding that Scramble handheld at a thrift store someday....Morgan
  20. About 75 total 2600 carts and only 1 homebrew, Chunkout which is pretty damn fun. I have played a number of available homebrew roms and most have been better games than the bulk of the 2600 library. I am just wayyyy too cheap to spend $25-35 for a game and shipping on a regular basis. Morgan
  21. Damn, I suck at this...12,000, 14,150. I know I can do better, but tonight I have a headache that feels like I took a small plane to the forehead. :-) Morgan
  22. +1 for that reference. The only reason I clicked on this thread was on the odd chance someone actually made a game out of that movie; could be fun, blowing up unstable planets, surfing the phoenix asteroids, "feed the alien" mini-game......Morgan
  23. OK, I had a decent trip to the Goodwill "surplus" store, but like usual it was a circus. All sorts of oddballs rooting through big bins of dirty jumbled junk. It looks like a school of pirahnas when they bring out new bins from the back, but this time I jumped in and started digging.... These three were $1 ea (all cd / dvd are $1): PS2 - Warhawk PS2 - Spyro 2 Dreamcast - NFL2k Complete This stuff was $1.59 a pound for a total $6.51 for all: NES - Metroid (nice condition) PS1 controller (nice) PS1 Spongebob controller Genesis controller 3 button Playstation RF switch Playstation RCA av cable Surge protector strip (nice one) Light bulb for the wife's fish tank hood super sweet RCA brand RF modulator (RCA in RF out w/ channel 3/4 switch) SomeGuy beat me to a few other Dreamcast games, one of which was Nights Morgan
  24. 4Ks, Not taboo at all, your store(s) may have accidentally got some good employees. Kind of like my local-ish Fry's; the store GM just created a better culture than the rest of the chain and the store got a pretty good rep (grading on a curve relative to other Frys). My local GameStop is staffed with condecending used car salesmen types. Morgan
  25. AAaaaggghhhh!!! Just seeing the word Gamestop makes me angry!! Why, oh why did Game Crazy have to die, just because it was attached to a piece of crap video store?? I had easy access to four Game Crazy's in my area; each one had great knowledgeable staff that did not seem to have any agenda other than helping you. They were great with annoying kids and ignorant parents. They had decent prices on used stuff, kept the shelves stocked, if you asked for something and they didn't have it, they would get on the phone and call other stores while you were still looking around and tell you "hey, they have a Hydro Thunder at the Salmon Creek store, do you want them to hold it for you?". Now I have Gamestop. Shitty, shitty Gamestop.
