I just wanted to know when a memory test should occur, or how I can run one. I want to make sure my 1040STfm really does have 1 MB of memory, just in case I ever buy a game that requires a whole megabyte of memory.
This could help. http://rover.ebay.com/rover/1/711-53200-19255-0/1?ff3=4&pub=5574883395&toolid=10001&campid=5336500554&customid=&mpre=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.ebay.com%2Fitm%2FSierra-Leisure-Suit-Larry-I-1-Atari-ST-1987-%2F321107329244%3Fpt%3DUS_Hobbies_Leisure_Software%26hash%3Ditem4ac37d00dc
I was gonna ask a similar question. Can you put the original ST disks in a newer computer and copy the files directly from the original disks to back it up?
I was at the flea market, and my guy had a whole new box of games for me to look through. Unfortunately, there was nothing special except some sealed Epyx games that I bought. I also snagged the 03 Star Ship variation, Tron: Deadly Discs, Flag Capture, and Hangman.
I have my reasons for collecting older hardware like this. One would be availability of games. Most are really easy to come by for dirt cheap. Another one would be how mysterious the world of Atari 2600 is considering all the prototypes and rare games made by smaller 1-2 person companies. My last reason would be the adventure created while going through dusty old flea markets and digging through junk piles at yard sales to find that one R5 game. I even have a guy at my local flea market that calls me first when he gets something Atari.
Once again, I apologize for my lack of reviews lately. I've just been into collecting for the Atari ST lately instead of the 2600. I'll try to start making at least one review a month.
I'm sure I'm not the first person to question this, but I've been wondering about it for a long time. Is there any possibility that there are Atari 2600 games that were officially released, but in such a limited quantity or by a scarcely known company, that no copies have been found, even though the game is verified to exist? I was also wondering if there are games that haven't even been discovered.
I have four 2600's, a 5200, a 7800, a CIB 1040STfm, an Intellivision, a Colecovision, a CIB Magnavox Odyessy 2, an NES, an SMS, a Sega Genesis, an SNES, a Sega Saturn, a Playstation 1, a Sega Dreamcast, a CIB Panasonic 3DO, and a Playstation 2.
I figured it would be neat to start a topic where we can talk about where we got our first 2600's. Since I only started collecting a few years ago, my story isn't too interesting. My first 2600 was a 4-switch Woody with the select switch broken off. My mom bought it for me on ebay even though we were going through rough times back then. I think it was Summer '09. It came with 28 games, an Atari joystick, some Atari paddles, and a white Competition Pro 5000 joystick. Well, that's my story, what's yours?
I bought the 1040STfm new from B&C Computervisions, but it appears to be an upgraded 520STfm. And the copy of Prince of Persia I have is a legitimate copy.
