  1. So Eduardo must have some of your money for a pre-order then? PM me and I'll purchase your spot from you.
  2. I recently completed a trade with Toby. Great guy to deal with! Very happy with how it worked out, Thanks!
  3. If you want amazing video quality on a budget you should consider the F18A. I don't know what make of automobile its video quality would be analogous to... But I do know that you can purchase the kit for $78 and that it outputs VGA so there's no need for an upscaler. However, it does completely replace the VDP so there are some caveats. Also, if you don't have the proper tools and experience, desoldering the 40 pin VDP will be a challenge. You could easily damage your Colecovision motherboard, quickly negating any cost savings. Although, I have to say the RGB output above does look fantastic!
  4. I'm just waiting on the PCB's and some new arcade buttons. Hopefully, it all goes according to plan. I was considering something similar. I thought I would salvage the plastic knob off some 2600 paddles and put the horizontal pot on top with an arcade button. Then I'd need a bigger box... better not... Now, I need to go over to the marketplace and drool over your new case for the Super 8... If I only had the funds I'd be buying one right now! That is some beautiful work!
  5. Got another means of getting a hold of him... I swore off Facebook a couple years back.
  6. No problem! Just wanted to make sure that I don't miss out. Thanks for developing this!
  7. I never heard back from you. I messaged you on 12/9. I just sent another PM.
  8. $50 plus shipping Please feel free to ask any questions, PM if interested.
  9. I traded the first controller, since I still need funds for my project I have decided to sell the second. I even decided on a price!
  10. Thanks man! The projects you and others shared back then is what inspired me to start tinkering with electronics in the first place, I really appreciate it!
  11. You'll be on the list, I promise. I was actually thinking of adding a second controller input for the Wico, kind of an all-in-one solution for my non-stock controllers. I'll also make a board with just the one controller input, can't have too many options.
  12. I straighten you out on the size issue and now it's the knobs!!! Bottom line is I built those to be used. If someone wants something to put up on a shelf and marvel at the glory that is its perfectly proportioned and streamlined beauty... buy something else. Why not buy a sculpture and claim that it allows you to play the Atari 5200 with digital joysticks... most people won't know what you're talking about and they won't give a s#%t either way! All kidding aside, I actually appreciate the input. I only did this small production run for the experience of doing it; I thought it would be fun. I'm working on other projects that I'll likely refine a bit more as a result of this experience. After playing around with the circuit connected up on a breadboard, I settled on the method I will use to switch between the two modes. I am currently designing a pcb for this project as well. I could wire it up this weekend on a prototype board, but I enjoy working on the pcb's. Once the boards come in, I'll start a new thread for the Trak-Ball project. I don't really see myself doing more than a handful of these, but I think stringfellow had a great idea and would like one for myself.
  13. I'm going to build a prototype of this adapter. I've found an appropriate project box, designed a pcb, and ordered the parts. It will be my first time using a microcontroller outside of the Arduino, we'll see how it goes...
  14. I find it hard to believe that any self-respecting 5200 fan would complain about bulk! The project box that I used measures in at 4 1/2" X 3" X 1 3/4". In fact, the Redemption and the Masterplay both have a larger footprint in terms of area, yet neither have a built in keypad. The adapters pictured above are roughly twice as tall as either of those units, but that's mainly to accommodate the calibration knobs which help to offer increased compatibility compared to the original Masterplay. I'm not sure about the Redemption's compatibility since I don't own one. Since the size concern has been mentioned before, I'm going to post another photo with a Genesis controller for reference. I think it's appropriately sized but opinions are just that... I've already cracked open one of my Trak-Ball controllers and taken a look around. I see no issue with adding a DB-9 connector in conjunction with a Masterplay type solution that can be used with the Trak-Ball's existing keypad, start, reset, and pause buttons. All I need to figure out is the most efficient way to switch between the two different modes.
  15. I know that "make an offer" threads are almost universally frowned upon, but I don't really know what to ask for this. I modded a pair of these controllers this past summer using some pcb's offered by grips03. I don't need two of these and would like to put some funds towards another project. The controller is in like new condition and works great. The cable is approximately 7'6" long. $175 plus shipping. Feel free to ask any questions, PM me if interested. Gone!
  16. I first saw an adapter that allowed use of an Atari Jaguar controller on a 5200 years ago on the 8-bit lab rat site: http://www94.pair.com/jsoper/jag_adapter.html I acquired my first Jaguar last year and was surprised by how much I liked the controller so I revisited the aforementioned adapter to make the Jag controller compatible with other systems that require a keypad. It still looked... complex. I starting messing around with the Arduino a couple years ago and thought it could do most of the work here, eliminating a lot of components from the lab rat adapter. I still needed the digital to analog conversion portion since the Arduino doesn't output analog. I decided to try the same method in the lab rat adapter to accomplish that conversion, rather than using low_budget's circuit that I used for the MasterPlay clones that I made recently. The circuit seems to work well, with good compatibility, and eliminates the need for adjustment knobs. Here's a video of the adapter in action:
  17. I'd likely be in for one console shell and a couple carts. I'd want to know if the back and screw post issues will be fixed before officially committing.
