  1. Not to mention that, with the penny stock we're discussing here, the only way to realise any sort of significant profit on the sale is to sell in high volume. As soon as others notice the churn and start selling their stocks, the effect snowballs. The stock price inevitably plummets and anyone who didn't have a standing order in with their broker to sell at a certain level is left holding the bag. Actually, the company is as well, because they've now been publically devalued and investor confidence in them is going be low across the board. Here's a graph illustrating the scenario: Wait - does that have the words "Pump and Dump" in it? cereal_killer.mp4
  2. Well, I suppose that pennies count as money, too, so you're essentially correct. Like a pump & dump. You're special.
  3. Which is a rather disingenuous way of saying that it closed at a whopping $0.135 after opening at an equally-impressive $0.100. Let's check the one-year performance, shall we? As it's not immediately-evident from the graph, the best that stock has managed over the past year is $0.190, which happened on September 1st, 2023. Hell, the gain on that day was even better than today's performance - 45% then vs. 35% today. However, the gain really means nothing when a week later it's back down to $0.140 and never recovers higher than 0.180 up to today. And, taking into account the high of 0.190, comparing that against today's rally to 0.135 still has the stock sitting about 40% below its best performance since this time last year. Feel free to continue playing fast and loose with the numbers to your heart's content, though - it provides endless entertainment.
  4. You know, you're right. I'm gonna turn around and invest that extra $1000 in pumpkin futures, and tell my broker to sell when they peak in December. I'll be set for life! I have absolutely no shame whatsoever about stealing that joke from The Simpsons.
  5. Donald, are you trying to copy & paste the listing from a .PDF? If so, that may be the issue (no pun intended): it's basically an artifact of how certain types of .PDFs behave when text is copied from them. Unfortunately, using a different font isn't likely to fix the problem since it's related to the formatting of the .PDF itself. That said, take a look at the following: http://ftp.pigwa.net/stuff/collections/holmes cd/Holmes 3/ANALOG/index.html I believe that nearly every disk sent out by ANALOG is archived at this point as an .ATR image. Be aware that some disks have an A and a B side, as noted in the filename. Download the one(s) you are looking for, and enjoy Oh, and if you don't have them, disk images for DOS are available at: http://ftp.pigwa.net/stuff/collections/holmes cd/Holmes 1/ATR Programs/Disk Operating Systems/index.html From what I recall, most of the ANALOG disks require loading DOS first.
  6. 50,000 * 0.12 = $6000. Big numbers are only impressive when they mean anything.
  7. ROMs are sorted out. Thanks to everyone who offered to help!
  8. It looks as though the various methods of contact reached their intended target! With the permission of Mike Salzman, author of Death Race 2600, I'm attaching the ROM image of the game to this post Skee-Ball is also being included, which was another of his games which had previously been released in a different thread. Mike wasn't 100% certain as to how close to release this version of Death Race 2600 was, but I've given it a shot and it's very playable. He'll take a look in the future to see what other versions may be extant, but there's no timeline on this. Huge thanks to Mike for giving permission to make Death Race 2600 available. It's very much appreciated, and it's great to see another homebrew getting some fresh air after a few years of falling off the map. Skee-Ball-02.08.18a.bin Death Race Joystick.bin
  9. Paging @salzmafia.com - I realise you haven't been here in two years, but hopefully this will send an email somewhere valid Also PM'd you.
  10. The offer is definitely appreciated, and if you're OK with it I'd like to keep that as a backup option. There's a possibility that the person who has mine may not need it anymore, so I'll chase them down and see where they're at with it. PM sent.
  11. The article you linked to in turn links to a Patreon page where the ROM should be... But isn't. If you happen to have a copy, it might be best to attach it to a post in this thread
  12. Thanks for that, it is appreciated Unfortunately, my burner is out on loan, so I'm going to have to go the mail order route. Spinning the wheel o' chance on eBay isn't what I want to do if it can be avoided, but if it comes down to it I'll do it.
  13. Does anyone have a source for XEGS OS ROMs other than Best? I'd order from them, but just don't have a large enough quantity of things that I need from them right now to meet the minimum. An EPROM would be fine; just need one for some testing.
  14. Good to know, and thanks. FWIW, I normally build UAVs out with jumpers made from pin headers instead of the terminal block, and right-angle connectors where the screw terminals would go. Makes them a lot easier to package inside of the machine(s). Understood. Mine's drilled; I don't believe that the SAVO board was around at the time. I also try to keep RF modulators installed where possible so that there's a video output of last resort for testing, etc., but on an XEGS the stock composite output can handle that function instead. Thank you for that; having the side-by-side comparisons are extremely useful. Much easier than using picture-in-picture, too From looking at the first photo, I see what you mean. At first glance it appeared as though replacing the DuPont connectors on the SAVO board with right-angled ones might allow for running the wiring to the SAVO under the U1MB's ribbon cables, but the more I look at it the less certain I am that this would be the case. Some could possibly be curved towards the outside, but even then it looks like there may be a few that can't take that route. Hmm. A 3D-printed U1MB bracket like the ones for the 600XL and 800XL would be very useful here. Hmmm...
  15. Welcome Take a look at https://www.page6.org/ - they have an archive of Page 6 / New Atari User magazines. Most of the listings have been converted to text (look at the HTML versions) and can be copied & pasted to a convenient place. They also have .ATR-format disk images with the software on them that can be used in emulation, to create physical media, or with devices such as a FujiNet or S-Drive Max.
  16. Looking at that photo, it appears as though the U1MB is installed above a Spectre video PCB. Interesting. I'm wondering if the same could be done with a UAV - or if the U1MB wouldn't be able to be installed above the SAVO PCB.
  17. Keeping my response brief: totally agreed. The abuses that happen tend to develop at the organisational level rather than at the operational one. Of course, the operational side is fed by the organisation, but that's a much wider topic of conversation
  18. They're still using them at DEF CON, or at least were as of last year Heh. That guy, very much with the emphasis on 'that'. These days, they're a lot more concerned with them (in the generic sense) than us, which is nice. That said (and my 'Government GTFO My Life' side is rather surprised that I'm saying this), they're generally OK if you're not on the receiving end.
  19. If you happen to have an XEGS keyboard you'd be willing to part with, please let me know. It doesn't have to be in 100% A+ condition, but as long as it's fully-working I'll be happy. Thank you!
  20. It's coming along nicely, and I now have a vendetta against the first jumping green robot Have you given consideration to an extra lives scheme? Not anything that would make it dead easy, but maybe one at the end of each level, or possibly tied to reaching a certain point and performing a certain action. The latter could be a risk / reward scenario depending on how it was done - have a control that awards a free life when operated, but make it a same-screen side quest, maybe? Toggle it on and off with the difficulty switch? Never mind - I found it Made it to End of Demo at 1051.
  21. Can't. Stop. Playing. This. I'm seriously looking forward to the final version
