  1. Hi all,

I have an Atari 2600 that's been dusting for a while and I've never gotten it to work.

I attempted to open it today, took 4 screws out and it would not open fully. I was afraid to put too much pressure and snap the thing.

I did use a couple of q-tips and clean a little of the board, but nothing changed.

It turns on but will not play any games.

    Just shows a scrambled screen.

Any idea on how this can be fixed? my other Atari's work fine.

    Thanks,

    Yan

  2. I just purchased State of Decay on the steam sale after hesitating for a while due to not being a super zombie fan.

I have actually enjoyed it a lot for the 3 hours I've played so far. There's so much freedom in the game.

Driving a car through a horde of zombies is great, and having members of your party being on the back of a pick up truck is neat. Hiding to avoid a horde of zombies only to gather their attention after blasting one in the face!

The negative is that time still passes in the game even when you're not playing the game; what would my base and team members look like if I came back a week later?

Anyone here a fan of the game?

  3. Hi all,

I just downloaded LOL on my windows 7 PC so I can play the game with my sister in Brazil and it keeps giving me connection error.

I switched myself to the Brazilian region, and I also made one account for the NA region but none of them log in.

Does anyone know how to deal with this?

    Cheers,

    Yan

  4. Tough... so many good games. But here is what I can think of right now. These are systems I played a lot.

    NES - Super Mario 3

Master System - Turma da Monica em: O Resgate

    SNES - Super Mario World/Street Fighter 2

    Jaguar - Tempest 2000/Doom

N64 - WWF No Mercy/Zelda: Ocarina of Time

PS1 - WWF Smackdown: Know Your Role/Crash Bandicoot

PS2 - Grand Theft Auto: Vice City/ WWE Here Comes The Pain

    Xbox - TES: Morrowind

    Xbox 360 - TES: Oblivion

PC: Age of Empires II/ Europa Universalis Series

I know it's not a top 10 but I could not come up with one lol!

  5. Arcade games are usually made up of these parts

    Cabinet

    Monitor (usually RGB)

    Controls

    Power Supply

    Logic Board

Connecting all of this together is a harness. The harness is a mesh of wires that unifies all of this into a working game.

The requirements to boot up an Arcade Game Logic Board would depend on the game itself. After 1986 typically most games ran on a standard for this wiring called JAMMA. Thus on these JAMMA compatible logic boards you have a JAMMA connector which then plugs into the JAMMA Harness sorta kinda like a big cartridge. Games created before this period are all over the place and the wiring can vary from manufacturer to manufacturer or even game to game under the same manufacturer.

So if you just have the logic board you'd need to create the harness, then you'd need to wire the harness to a power supply, an RGB monitor and finally the controls (ie joysticks).

This really isn't something that is easy to do on the fly, your best bet would be to buy an arcade cabinet then run the board in that. If its compatible you can just swap the board in and out.. if its not compatible (ie on a different wiring scheme) you can use an adapter. There are some obvious considerations.. no adapter is going to make a Pole Position board run in a Mortal Kombat or vice versa.

Ok Thanks, I do own one myself. A street fighter 2 champion edition. (I do want another machine eventually.)

I was just curious since it was only $10 for the motherboard.

    This is my machine:

  6. I have 5 TV's for my vintage consoles in my house, they range from 90's TV's to 2009. I don't put vintage consoles on my 60inch samsung! That's the pride of my home lol.

The TV is a tube tv I guess. 32 inch that I was playing on.

I do have a 39 inch flat screen that I could try it later on it. Maybe it will look better.

  7. Hi all,

I bought this s-video cable for my Atari Jaguar and did a fairly quick test with Doom on one of my TV's. What am I supposed to expect?

I had to change the contrast on my TV since I could barely see anything on Doom. Then it was fine and it did look better.

How dark is Doom supposed to be? The red was bleeding off a little bit.

Is there a better s-video cable than this or is this the best one?

  8. I'm a big fan of the Elder Scrolls franchise like many people and have been playing since Morrowind back in 2003.

According to wikipedia, Xbox users will have to pay $15 bucks a month to play the game on top of the $60 purchase price. That means it's $75 for the 1st month alone!

PS4 users will not have to pay a monthly fee to play online.

I own aPS4 but have never been fan of MMO's, they tend to get boring once I have to grind... Maybe I'll buy it 1 year from now if the price lowers. Unless this MMO is different and unique in its style of course.

    We'll see....

  9. My favorite yesterday was the good folks at Retro Magazine dropped a bomb through kickstarter announcing a Gamestop take over. It was very well written and it duped me until I saw the bottom part of the email.

Lol, I should have taken some time and written a well though out article. Oh well there's always next April 1.

  10. Can someone point me to the exact location for the collision section between missile/enemy and missile player of randomterrain.com? I can move and shoot but I seem to be messing up the collision.

This is the code I have for the collision. the program compiles fine as long as I don't type this in.

    if collision (missile0,player1)then score = score+1 : player1x = rand / 2 : player1y = 0 : missile0y = 255

    if collision (player0,player1)then score = score-1 : player1x = rand / 2 : player1y = 0 : missile0y = 255

  11. It appears as EA wants to acquire VALVE and with it their assets such as the Half Life franchise.

Larry Probst says this purchase would greatly increase Electronic Arts portfolio and allow them to further expand their merchandise.

I for one oppose this idea. What do you guys think?

  12. Thank you both!

Now I gotta read more into Randoom Terrains how to make the character move.

after some reading I'll try messing with it again for the movement and hopefully a title screen.

  13. I've been trying to figure out what's wrong with the indentation. I'll read the link tomorrow when I start again. It was working fine until this line gave me problems.

    missile0y=missile0y-2: goto draw_loop

that is were the system is telling me the error is.
