About Me

Software engineer.  Grew up in the grips of the Atari wave of the late 70's and early 80's.   Spent 3rd and 4th grade envious of all the kids who had the 2600 in my school/neighborhood. Spent the next few years getting my revenge when my dad got us the Atari 400 computer for Christmas 1979.  Learned how programming worked and spent may hours with family and friends in the rec room on that machine until Christmas 1983, when my older brother got the 800XL...which essentially meant that I got it as well.  Learned more programming on that and the school "Computing" class on Apple computers in junior high and high school. Basically got out of computing for the most part in 87 or so when I was too busy with sports and work. Left for the Navy after high school and became nuke on a submarine stationed at Pearl Harbor in 91.  Spent 1 tour until 96..got out, got married to my wife who was from Hawaii. Used the GI Bill at the U of Hawaii and been a developer ever since 98 or so. Never thought about my old Atari stuff until the early 2000's when I discovered there were emulators for all the old machine.

Recently re-acquired machines from my youth:

Atari 400 with 48K upgrade and component video out built in

Atari 800XL with socketed chipset(so I can do some sort of HD video output conversion)
