  1. This week I played: Disney Dreamlight Valley for Switch - 8 minutes Dragon Ball Z: The Legacy of Goku for Game Boy Advance - 75 minutes Sonic Advance for Game Boy Advance - 48 minutes Super Mario Advance for Game Boy Advance - 161 minutes Progress: Dreamlight Valley - just did a bit more testing while cleaning up more of the beginning area in the process. DBZ Legacy of Goku - made it to King Kai's planet after getting past HFIL and Snake Way. Sonic Advance - got through the game as Sonic, collecting just one emerald along the way. I don't remember all the special stage locations it's been so long since I replayed this game regularly unlike the Genesis ones. Super Mario Advance - completed Super Mario Bros. 2 as all Mario, then went back to collect a few missing Advance coins Mario couldn't reach as easily as Peach and Luigi.
  2. This week I played: Crazy Taxi for Dreamcast - 44 minutes Dave Mirra Freestyle BMX for Dreamcast - 136 minutes Dragon Ball Z: Ultimate Battle 22 for Playstation - 45 minutes Super Mario Bros. Deluxe for Game Boy Color - 269 minutes Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 2 for Playstation - 186 minutes Progress: Crazy Taxi - played arcade mode and original mode until I did well enough in both to make the credits roll and play the first verse of one of my favorite songs by Bad Religion ever (Inner Logic) Dave Mirra Freestyle BMX - played as Dave Mirra until I got stuck on a level's pro goal that asks you to do a 900. I can't seem to get enough air to pull that off. At least I've unlocked at least half of the levels I think. This game has a great soundtrack too but just doesn't quite control as well as Tony Hawk games. Dragon Ball Z: UB22 - I beat the 1P vs COM mode (essentially arcade mode) as Goku Super Mario Bros. Deluxe - I beat both quests of the original game, the Lost Levels (For Super Players) mode, the Boo races only doing well enough to unlock all the pink Boos, and got all the red coins/high score/Yoshi egg challenge mode goals done through world 4-4. Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 2 - Played as Tony Hawk well enough in each of the levels to access the Bull Ring and get a gold in the final competition to watch the credits roll. I'm probably not going to bother going back and 100%ing the game or using the other skaters this time around. I still have many other games left to re-play including other versions of this game.
  3. I just recently played through this. It's funny you took a break in the same place I did. What's funny is that it wasn't until after I finished it that I tried setting up emulators on my wife's computer and I realized I could have turned up the graphical resolution and gotten rid of a lot of the pixelation that this and other games suffer from when not played on a CRT on original hardware. I did leave a disc 1 file available for the ability to go back and level up Aeris for fun. I guess next time I play it, it will look better. I could also just wait until I get to the Switch version I have and replay it that way.
  4. Yeah I think technically it's still in the beta stage, they just allowed early access. The game has occasional glitches where it needs to be restarted sometimes but at least it saves frequently. I just keep reminding her that the game isn't really finished yet and the bugs may be fixed in the upcoming patch and true release. My hope for her enjoyment is that they add a bunch more characters to interact with.
  5. This week I played: Disney Dreamlight Valley for Switch - 40 minutes Progress: I just tried it out for a bit because my wife wanted to play it. She's really gotten into it since last night while I went back to my retro games.
  6. This week I played: Sonic Adventure for Dreamcast - 316 minutes Progress: I completed the rest of Tails' story mode, then completed the Knuckles, Amy, Big, E-102 Gamma and Super Sonic story modes to finish the game.
  7. I don't think anyone mentioned Lady Sia for Game Boy Advance or Ghost Lion for NES.
  8. This week I played: 007: The World Is Not Enough for Nintendo 64 - 211 minutes Bust-a-Move for Game Gear - 141 minutes Final Fantasy VII for Playstation - 330 minutes Sonic Adventure for Dreamcast - 193 minutes Sonic Blast for Game Gear - 73 minutes Star Fox for Super Nintendo - 36 minutes Progress: 007: TWINE - I started and completed Agent mode Bust-a-Move - I completed all 100 levels of 1P Play mode on Easy. Final Fantasy VII - I finished the game easily by just having a very good materia setup and plenty of Turbo Ethers. Sonic Adventure - completed Sonic's story, then probably a little over half of Tails' story. Sonic Blast - completed the game with all emeralds as Sonic. Star Fox - completed difficulty level 1.
  9. I finished the game on Sunday. I had really good materia strategies so it went by pretty easily. But the time from that will be posted next week. Now I'm on to much shorter games for a while.
  10. This week I played Final Fantasy VII for Playstation - 1,325 minutes Progress: I made it to disc 2 of the game and got to the point where I got Cloud and Tifa back and have retrieved 4 huge materia. Next I have to take Bugenhagen to the place where Aeris died I think.
  11. When it comes to retro games I've stopped trying to collect any games I haven't beaten unless they have something that draws my interest to them anyway. I want my collection to represent my experiences, not just things that take up space. I'm also not going to keep any games that I don't like.
  12. This week I played: Final Fantasy VII for Playstation: 237 minutes Progress: After a 2 week break of no gaming while working on another project, I made it from the exit of Midgar over to the Junon area, recruited Yuffie and defended the condor nest once. I'm not quite ready to take on the dragon at Junon's beach quite yet so I figure grinding for gil for a while to fund more battles at the condor nest would be good timing to gain a few more character levels and AP for materia to level up.
  13. What do you collect, all Sega for the most part?
  14. I like this method myself. I used to buy a lot of games just because I found them, but now I've broken my collection into two parts. My real collection is games I've either completed or tried to do my best to play. Games I haven't played or just barely tried are not part of my actual collection. They're just backlog and if I lost any games I would rather it be those.
  15. This last week I played: Final Fantasy VII for Playstation - 400 minutes Oddworld: Abe's Exoddus for Playstation - 500 minutes Tony Hawk's Pro Skater for Playstation - 54 minutes Progress: Oddworld: Abe's Exoddus - I finished the rest of the game with 273 escapees and got the good ending, but not the perfect 100% one. Pretty good for not using a guide this time. Tony Hawk's Pro Skater - I started a new game and completed it with all tapes and gold medals as Tony Hawk. Final Fantasy VII - I started a new game and just made it out of Midgar. I can't believe my exact times for two games either round up or down to such round numbers, right down to the minute. That's pretty crazy.
  16. This week I played: Oddworld: Abe's Exoddus for Playstation - 158 minutes Suikoden II for Playstation - 843 minutes Progress: Oddworld: Abe's Exoddus - I started a new game and made it through the vault with the scrabs. Suikoden II - I finished the game with all characters possible in one playthrough (Valeria, Feather and Sigfried chosen, all optional flying squirrels recruited) and got the best ending. It turns out not loading Suikoden save data has almost no bearing on the story and is only there for the optional McDohl sidequest where you get to meet the hero of the first game and let him join your group as desired. The McDohl sidequest is apparently the only way to fight the second caterpillar boss that transforms into the moth. Ellie also ended up completely disappearing from Banner Village and never came back, probably because without the McDohl sidequest unlocked, she has no use in the game other than asking you to stay at her family's inn when you first arrive there. Koh also never realizes that you're the character he is such a big fan of and never leaves the village.
  17. This week I played: Suikoden II for Playstation - 1,885 minutes Progress: I started a new game where I chose not to import Suikoden save data so I could take a look at the differences. I ended up with over 80 characters so far and just defeated Luca Blight. There's still a ways to go, but I am confident I can still get the rest of the characters this time around (minus McDohl obviously due to not importing the save data).
  18. I see, so each of the pavilion members' games would count as individual titles for Playstation or Playstation 2 depending on which system the maker they used was for, as I thought. They would be on the same level as rom hacks or homebrew titles. It makes sense because the PC RPG Maker games allow for even more engine tweaks that end up making some games very different from others, such as action RPG elements.
  19. This week I played: Final Fantasy III (VI) for Super Nintendo - 342 minutes Gobli's Adventure (from RPG Maker) for Playstation - 331 minutes Incredible Crisis for Playstation - 97 minutes I'm not sure how you want to count Gobli's Adventure or RPG Maker for Playstation. Gobli's Adventure is the actual playable game that is included on the RPG Maker disc. A whole forum called RPGMakerPavilion has other user created games for the Playstation and Playstation 2 RPG Maker games that I guess would be counted as individual games, while the act of creating a game could be time that goes toward the title RPG Maker/RPG Maker 2/RPG Maker 3? Or you could just say all the included games, all the game creating time, and all the user created games go under the umbrella of the RPG Maker, RPG Maker 2 or RPG Maker 3 entries depending on which game it was developed with. Your call. Progress: Final Fantasy 6 - I got the last 2 espers, defeated the last 2 dragons and defeated Kefka, completing the game. Gobli's Adventure (from RPG Maker) - I made three quick edits to add save points to each of the three towns' inns, then started a new game and completed it. Incredible Crisis - I started a new game and completed it.
  20. Usually I have a game in mind when I buy a console except in recent years as an established adult where I am willing to just buy every new major console. So I bought an Xbox Series X without an exclusive in mind, but realized that since I skipped Xbox One X I could play the upgraded versions of Xbox 360 and Xbox One games on it that I already own too. Since a lot of the time games appear on both Playstation and Xbox, having the Xbox allows me to just pick up whatever version I find on sale or cheaper used. In the past I haven't been disappointed if I don't find any other games I like for the console other than my initial reason. Sometimes it took me a while to find a second game I liked, for example the 32X. I bought it just because I wanted to play Knuckles' Chaotix which I enjoyed and beat 100%, but then later on I started going "oh it would be nice to have Doom on here even though I have it on other systems." I've got a handful of 32X games but I forget what I kept besides those two. Most of the time though, I find it easy to find additional games for every system. Especially because of multiplatform releases.
  21. This week I played Final Fantasy III (VI) for Super Nintendo - 1,067 minutes Super Mario Bros.: Level-Headed version 0.3.9 for NES - 60 minutes Progress: Final Fantasy VI - I defeated all the dragons except for the last two, and got the espers Alexander and Odin. I'm teaching everyone the spells from those two before I will change Odin into Raiden. Everyone else knows all the spells from all the others so the Fanatics' Tower was easy for me to clear with Ultima, Cure 3, and Life 3 plus plenty of tinctures and wall rings equipped on everyone. Super Mario Bros.: Level-Headed version 0.3.9 - I completed two of three randomly generated games while failing to complete the second of these. The settings were SMB1 physics-Original graphics-Normal difficulty
  22. NES-101, the top loader is clearly smaller than SNS-101. The SNS-101 is wider. Sega Genesis 3 is smaller than either one.
  23. This week I played: Diddy Kong Racing for Nintendo 64 - 514 minutes Dig Dug for Arcade (via Namco Museum 64 for Nintendo 64) - 4 minutes Final Fantasy III (VI) for Super Nintendo - 1,194 minutes Galaga for Arcade (via Namco Museum 64 for Nintendo 64) - 10 minutes Galaxian for Arcade (via Namco Museum 64 for Nintendo 64) - 7 minutes Kirby Super Star for Super Nintendo - 293 minutes Ms. Pac-Man for Arcade (via Namco Museum 64 for Nintendo 64) - 9 minutes Pac-Man for Arcade (via Namco Museum 64 for Nintendo 64) - 10 minutes Pole Position for Arcade (via Namco Museum 64 for Nintendo 64) - 3 minutes Spider-Man/X-Men: Arcade's Revenge for Sega Genesis - 79 minutes Progress: Diddy Kong Racing - totally completed adventure mode then played time trial mode to unlock T.T. Final Fantasy 6 - got all the characters in the World of Ruin. Just need a few more Espers, need to defeat the rest of the dragons, teach spells to every character and train for the ending. Kirby Super Star - 100% completed the game Namco Museum 64 - played a small sample of each game Spider-Man/X-Men - completed the game
  24. I saw you post on Facebook about this too. I wonder how Mercari compares to ebay policy-wise. I ordered a non video game item a few days ago, I think Thursday but they haven't shipped it yet. I figure I'll give them a week then I'll start asking questions.
  25. This week I played: King's Field: The Ancient City for Playstation 2 - 172 minutes Progress: I went through the forest area on the opposite side of the ancient city then made it through some of the chambers in the castle, eventually reaching the top floor of the ancient city, unlocking the door up there. I spent some time level and gold grinding on these demons that live in this one passageway with a hole in the wall. They respawn more than monsters in most other areas and drop larger amounts of gold. I think I found the priest's key so that chamber is probably where I need to go next. I got the flu at the end of this week so not as much gaming took place. I'm still not sure if I have enough stamina to start playing this week.
