  1. I saw Blue Oyster Cult last night.  Look at how close I was to the stage.  Tickets were only $55 plus a small fee (non Ticketmaster, yey!).  I'd rather pay $55 to see one of my top 5 bands (first CD I bought with my own money was a BOC CD -- Fire of an Unknown Origin in 1986) rather than drive 75 miles away and pay double to sit in nosebleed seats to see whatever current auto-tuned pop star is hip.

One of the t-shirt styles they were selling said Blue Oyster Cult -- 1972 to Forever.  I was born in 1972, so I wanted to buy one but they were sold out.  All 1,350 seats were sold out in the beautiful Robins Theatre.  There were even some young people there.  There's really not a bad seat in the house in these smaller venues, and it's actually better to sort of sit in the middle of the venue for better audio.  I was near the bass speakers.  About 10 of us got to fist bump Buck Dharma.

I'll be the first to admit being thick headed and thought about the Blue Oyster Bar in Police Academy. ?

They are a blue collar working class band -- no freaking trumpets, no constant guitar changes (Buck played the same guitar for all the songs except one).  The other members played their same guitars for the entire 2 hour performance.  Bass player had a Fender Jazz Bass the entire set.  4 guitars and a heavy drum kit.

Buck's guitar is a Steinberger -- custom made to look like Swiss cheese with some chunks removed.  He calls it a "Cheeseberger".  It's the type of guitar that doesn't have traditional tuners/headstock.  You tune it at the other end.
