I got a power book G4 1.5 ghz and it has no sound... it dose identify when head phones are pluged in and dose go to internal speakers when head phones are out... but has no audio from the laptop or internal speakers... check connections and looks good.. Any advise will be nice Thanks

replying to almost dead post but.... I really think PC started to become something different during WIN95 and 98se basically when Microsoft added DX6-12 (I think it's at now.) due to each DX release it had a .LIB set to each Dx release and made it more of emulation than actual hardware... games that used newer graphical effects would be included in the next release of DX.. a good example of this is Gothic 3 vs hell gate londan DX9 vs DX10 both DX9 and ten could have depth of field how ever you need 10 to get this effect in hell gate londan... not because Dx9 could hold it but because it was easier under 10 since it was part of DX10 .libs files that made it easier to program for developers basically they stopped actually devolving games.. for hardware.. and had to make games more compatible for ATI, NVIDIA One more reason I like Open GL is because its open source and dosent have to pay Microsoft for fee of using DX Anyways.. What depth and fild added as a graphic effect is the blurry back ground to a crisp for ground.. Gothic 3 DX 9.0 DX 10 PS... I'm drunk so don't get on me about to much about things LOL!!

I had a vintage PC computer designated to MS DOS/Win95/98/XP.... I got rid of it after getting a Macintosh G4.. Mac OS 9 is so much more stable and easier to use than windows when it comes to vintage games like Alice quake unreal even FMV games like Gaberial Knight and such .. Haven't looked back in this aspect.... Yeah it dosen't have every PC game on it but than again with vintage PC gaming 90% is configuration. I've had a couple DX 8.0A games not working with DX 8.1 or DX 9 also MS DOS can be a headache in it self when it comes to extended memory... found that I almost needed 2 or 3 bootable patations with different configuration just for some games.on the same computer ... Also had early XP games that weren't compatible with newer versions of XP.. With that said OS 10.x dose run to compatibility issues but I run OSX on a G5 dual 2.3 GHZ ppc with 6 GB ram and office apple NVIDIA 6800 with 256mb ram.. can run Doom 3 unreal 2k and Prey with out a hitch... -

I think collecting is over rated.... only stick with what makes you happy and that is simple.... trust me you won't look back... honestly how many times are you going to play some of these games?
