  1. I don't have an answer to the question, but I do find the name curious. . .as I am jfetzner. . .and there aren't that many folks with either version of our last name in the country. . .
  2. Thanks! I was actually going to try the Educational module as my first test of the EPROM burner, so your correction is timely. . .
  3. Coffee break? A beer helmet break would be in order at this point. . .
  4. I got mine today too. I highly recommend these. . .
  5. Only the earliest releases of the speech synthesizer had the port intact, as TI changed course on that idea shortly after it was released. . .and released the Speech Editor cartridge instead.
  6. Thank you, Gazoo! That gives us six wonderful images for the 512K cart now. . .though I do still need to ask Kevan to make one of his nice label designs for the Games 4 cart image. . .
  7. You may be able to nab the GROM images for Computer Math Games I, III, and IV from the MESS RPKs, Gazoo. . .
  8. Michael, the ÜberGROM does support multiple GROM bases (up to 15 of them) in a single cartridge. They can be mix-and-match divided amongst the GROM bases, with a hard limit of 120K of GROM per cartridge. It also supports up to 512K of bank-switched ROM in the >6000 space, using non-inverted bank switching (74LS378 does the switching). There are now cartridge images for four different cartridges out there that use this functionality (and I have physical examples of each of them in my possession). The XB 2.7 cartridge mentioned above uses all of the available space in the module. . .
  9. Neat! My boys love the various math cartridges, so they will be happy with this one!
  10. Has there been any progress on building the 512K Educational cart image? I suspect many of the reading ones won't work, just because they used too many GROMs. Most of the math carts should though. . .
  11. Was your original disk formatted on a CorComp controller using Disk Manager 1000? That sometimes does really bad things to the disk (and produces symptoms just like you're having when another controller is reading them).
  12. I really like the third one you did there. Kevan did me up some labels to use on 512K carts that I've made a few of to test. He also did another take on the general TI format in a slightly different direction than you went. I attached the one he did for the 512K Educational module Gazoo has been working on here. The background colors change based on Educational, Utility, or Game cartridges. I plan on doing some full cart assembly once I get my Advin Pilot U-84+ set up and tested. 512kEDU01.bmp
  13. I'd do a new chapter too, Lee--it keeps things clean when people are looking for information.
  14. You may be looking for the APESoft routines, as they add a lot of graphics manipulation to Extended BASIC. They are also available in the Mechatronics Extended BASIC II module.
  15. I like it! It is a fine adaptation of the island theme screen.
  16. Well, he did note that this was the first run of cartridges. . .which would be a good sign that more are possible.
  17. It is good to see you back, Ox! May all go according to a reasonable plan for you!
  18. They are beautiful, Gazoo! Seeing this makes me glad I persevered with the ÜberGROM project--and seeing Tursi's GROM emulation code put to such an excellent use is a wonderful thing.
  19. Those are wonderful--I've already sent him a PM.
  20. I've finished asembling five of the new boards and should have the other six that are in mostly-complete form done by tomorrow. And you are right about the long, strange trip, Gazoo! It took almost five years for this idea to go from germination to fully-functional, fun product.
  21. My six-year-old loves that Flappy Bird on the TI. . .
  22. Most 99/4s had the earphone jack. Some really early ones had a volume slider in the front of the cartridge port (the Solid State Software badge covers the hole for it) and a speaker under the grille behind the cartridge port.
  23. I actually have to go through the thread and take all of the lessons learned and input them into the document. There won't be a true final version until Tursi has sufficient free time to code the rest of the loader he's been working on for the GROM side. Other than that, though, the manual will be pretty much done once I put the tweaks from this thread into it. One note: the manual is for the ÜberGROM (Blue Boards--or Green if you got boards from the first run). The description of the banking is relevant to the Red 512K boards though, as it is the same method for both boards. The Black 128Kx4 boards use the Inverted Guidry banking--which is also described in the manual for reference purposes. I should probably write up a manual for the other board types so that people have one easy place to get their questions answered.
