  1. http://www.amazon.co...s/dp/B002YZPFG8 WHOA. It's like a cart based, 360Wii. ITS FREAKIN' COMPLETE. Edit: I spy a game called 'Pro Crack'. Though that game probably isn't as good as 'Lawn Purge'. LOL
  2. Sega. Freakin'. CDX. See you all another time!

  3. Nice bonus! I double-checked every DVD player in that store, and couldn't find the unit that went to the game and controller. *sigh* I still had a great week!
  4. I like this. It makes me feel better. I can hardly read my original post. Man, I was in a frenzy of anger over this haha
  5. I have been looking for a Sega CDX for about a week now, and I put the word out to some friends who are also into classic gaming. A buddy of mine found one from a guy, who claimed he had bought it in the day, had owned no other Sega systems, and everything that was with it was original. However, my (very fair) asking price seemingly wasn't enough, and he wanted $25 more. Here's the kicker, my buddy says that since its a deal between two of his unrelated friends, he'd do all the driving between us to complete the transaction. I felt ridiculous about this, and pleaded with him to just give me his buddy's email address so I could do the transaction personally - my buddy reassured me it wasn't an issue, and he'd be glad to help out. Well, this morning he gets here with the unit. I go to set it up and unravel the (incredibly crucial) power supply, which I had been told numerous times (I asked numerous times) was original. It was not the same adapter. It was a much smaller MK-1479, which after some independent research is a Genesis 3 power supply, and NOT recommended for use with any other systems. I recognized this, and told my friend that it wasn't what I was looking for and that I was truly sorry, but I couldn't buy his unit. My buddy began acting very strangely, and seemingly couldn't get out of my house fast enough. The bounty I was paying for the unit (maybe you saw my wanted post here, it was quite close to eBay prices) plus $25, is just too much for something that isn't what I'm looking for. As I sat inside, thinking about the CDX that could have been, my buddy calls from his car outside: Price dropped to $10 more than my bounty. Verified with multiple sources that MK-1479 will work for a CDX. The second statement is a complete falsity - there's a great discussion I found on the Neo Geo forums about the MK-1479 specifically causing issues with the CDX. After I declined a second time, my buddy hung up on me, and I went to browse eBay. Where I found a nice BIN CDX lot very close to my bounty price, newly posted and waiting for my money. The irony. I happily bought it, and took a nap. When I woke up, I had an email waiting: apparently my buddy's buddy *found* the box and manual for the CDX and my buddy claims to have bought it, sold his spare CDX (he had one already, was just 'helping' me out) within 15 minutes on craigslist - for my asking price - and pretty much bragged to me about how he got a Sega CDX box and manual for $10. ... Did I do the right thing, turning down an (undesirable) deal at the risk of offending a friend who went out of their way to do me a favor? Are his actions as unjust and personally motivated as I feel they are? Sorry for the Wall of Words, but this is classic gaming drama you don't get every day!
  6. Bought a 2600 Homebrew from Gary. Quick shipping and an easy transaction. Thanks a bunch!
  7. ParaJVE is the best Vectrex emulator, hands down. Supports homebrews, originals, you can even use the mouse as a lightpen. What was your problem? Never got your was around it? If you need help, there are many troubleshooting guide out there for ParaJVE, or emulators in general. Google is your friend!
  8. Recheck my post. I already have Polar Rescue CIB. Thanks for your offer, though. I only really NEED a Starhawk manual and Pole Position manual. The rest of it is fluff
  9. Sorry if this has already been discussed, but I stumbled upon this picture: http://theparallax.tumblr.com/post/17714254440/poor-kids-xbox-milford-mall ...and I want to know what is is/plays/who would buy such a device
  10. I pre-ordered the Limited Edition bundle against my better judgement. It'll be here in a week (I chose the cheapest shipping method), but I'm really not very antsy to get it. I might just leave it sealed as an "investment", although the extra systems sitting at Gamestop with little to no interest today (launch day) really are making me rethink my purchase. If Army Corps of Hell didn't look so freaking cool I wouldn't have made this questionable decision! GAH I want to hear more, anybody buy this thing? How's it treatin' ya?

    Wanted: Sega CDX

    EDIT: FOUND; TOPIC WORTHLESS
  12. http://vectorgaming.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=vectrex please come join us for good Vectrex discussion! (Note: Vectrex news is uncommon, sometimes we have months of nothing new, but this forum has been pretty informed the last few months at least)
  13. One phenomena surrounding Skyrim that I find hilarious is the number of people on Craigslist who bought this game (no doubt due to all the hype and badass trailor), played it for 10 minutes, and decided that it wasn't for them. People, people, do your damn research before buying games: http://portland.crai...2828461899.html (lol enjoy the game you've already played 5 times) http://portland.crai...2840231207.html (not a bad trade: shitty sports title for an RPG) http://portland.crai...2835251905.html (I'll give you NFL Gameday 2001 for...your Misadventure of Tron Bonne) http://portland.crai...2846617434.html (this one's the worst...how do you make the same mistake TWICE?)
  14. Battlezone was being done by Christopher Tumber (author of V-Frogger, Tsunami, etc.), who is currently MIA from Vectrex development. Star Fire early work is a released, unfinished demo by John Dondzila. Because he made it freely available, I do not believe he has any plans to finish it. (like Vectropolis 500) Tron is rumored to be a joke, a startscreen produced by somebody (like Pole Position 3D) to stir up controversy around the time the (new) movie was being released. I remember reading somewhere the game would be impossible to create (licensing). Da 0ld 5k00l Demo is finished and awesome, but there is no gameplay.
  15. 1) Commodore 64 setup - Found a complete boxed 128 collection at a garage sale for FREE and traded it all for a great boxed C64 setup. Boxed computer, boxed disk drive, boxed monitor, for free. This find catapulted me into the collecting I do today. 2) Vectrex collection - In a relatively short amount of time, I have been able to amass a near-complete boxed NTSC set (minus Lightpen and 3D games), with multiple multicarts, homebrew controllers/games, and oddities like a copy of the Passport Magazine, a NIB sealed System, the carrying case and original dust cover, etc. On a minimum-wage salary, mind you. Its a blessing and a curse to have so many valuable things when you can barely pay the bills. 3) Autographed Halo 2600 - Ed Fries made an appearance at Portland Retro Gaming Expo 2011, long story short, he personalized my cartridge after a great conversation. The simple fact that he created this oddity meant a lot to me (HUGE Halo fan here), but to have a copy addressed to me is an honor all its own. Now I just need a box from Al! 4) Popful Mail (Sega CD) - This is my all-time favorite game, and (I believe) my first eBay purchase. I will never forget the day my little brother stepped on my original copy (yes, it was on the floor, no I didn't know any better) and scraped it across the floor. This was in the early 2000s, and I was blown away at the near-retail prices ($70 sealed LOL) this game commanded even then. I bought a brand-new copy, but I learned something important that day: video games can retain value. 5) Harmony Cart/PowerPack/Everdrive MD - I'm lumping these all together, because they've all revolutionized my collection. To say I love them would be an understatement. To say I want to marry them would be closer to the truth.
  16. This sale happened like 5 years ago, but really was the penultimate Vectrex discovery of the last decade (nitromikee's stash of ~24 NIB Vectrex's comes close). All four buyers were lucky, lucky people indeed.
  17. This. The first time you beat finish the game, it was all a dream and it reverts you back to the beginning. After beating the game a second time, you are treated to a final stage of hell (keep in mind this game is hard and unfair) upon which you get the ending: "CONGRATURATION! THIS GAME IS HAPPY END! THANK YOU." And then it asks you to challenge it again. From the beginning. The FIRST beginning. Lets just say I hate this game so much I love it.
