  1. There are enough gravity games on VCS to complain about, "lacking" that feature. IMO you are comparing Apples to oranges Cheers!
  2. As expected, all 3 Doom engine games in the poll, making up 50% of the nominees. Is that really fair?
  3. Look again, the Jaguar version is clearly a direct port of the ST game. Not only is the background missing the color gradients of the Amiga version, it also shows the same flip screen scrolling of the ST version, while the Amiga has smooth scrolling.
  4. There is another minor issue I have recently. So the player sprite overlaps environment tiles/obstacles (more than 3/4 of the player sprite) and collision takes a bit of a guessing. I know probably why you did that, but its not consistent with the enemies. Any enemy will kill you if it contacts a larger area of the sprite image, which is what I would expect. Cant wait for the release of the final game, though I hope its the final version finally. Cheers!
  5. Anyone having the "crash at end of level" problem with the ROM on BigPEmu, the ROM on the itch page works just fine. https://anderlex.itch.io/rebounced-a-new-game-for-the-atari-jaguar
  6. Here is a qick overview what each tile does to the player: - +5/-5 = adds/substracts 5 jumps to the player - Max = refills jumps to the maxium of 50 - treasure chests = spawns a coin for spelling "BONUS", collecting all letters will give you 1 extra life, probably adding extra bonus points for each coin collected - poison potion = poisons the player until he dies (zero hearts/health points) - blue potion = cures player of poison and refills all health - spikes = player damage of 2 health points (2 hearts) - skull = instant kill - trees = player damage of 1 health point - C Flag = checkpoint, refill+heal everything, player respawn point - patch = same as blue potion (will probably change to 1 health point heal, no poison cure)
  7. Thanks for the feeback! What bonus stuff you mean? Coins? I was thinking about adding a shadow to help the player too. However that is not necessary, as the player sprite lands exactly on the tile it covers . So its like a big cursor. I totally dig the flip animation (it adds to the whimsical/crazy nature of the game) The checkered flag texture is from the old tileset, yes, good observation. Yep, faster speed option would increase the risk vs reward fun! I think the game is good enough for another tileset/theme, but that would happen only after Jumping at Shadows was finished. BTW I am surprised the ROM avaiable here crashes on BigPEmu! The ROM on my itch page does not do that, so please download that one 🙂 Cheers!
  8. You can play the demo on BigPemu with GD emulation option on
  9. Love how he instantly blames the controller!
  10. Probably people confused it with the Rocketeer Rebooted game, since the names are similar. Hm....
  11. Thanks! I don't think that is possible as you need 8 way movment with the dpad.
  12. Progress update on devlog, coming along nicely! https://anderlex.itch.io/rebounced-a-new-game-for-the-atari-jaguar
  13. Should be no problem going from that to Final Lap and Need For Speed in 4 months+.;) Same old trick, he was called out being an utter charlatan, and rightly so!
  14. I think "Running Knight" by Dr. Ludos is completed as he even has released the source code?
  15. Did not know that game, nice effects! Its based on Bounders (1985) concept too, obviously, but adds an 3D dimension to it. "Rebounced" uses an 2D tilemap and autoscrolls, like the classic game.
  16. Homepage for the game is online: https://anderlex.itch.io/rebounced-a-new-game-for-the-atari-jaguar
  17. Batman Returns is a very impressive and beautiful Arcade style side scroller, but they ruined the gameplay with the difficulty and random and unfair attacks and only1 life, because otherwise the game had been too short!😅 Despite having only 4 levels, the 2nd and 3rd get very repetitive (I never got past the 3rd "boss"). But, its not the worst Batman game, I think the Amiga version was far worse?!
  18. Glad we revisited the game and got the WIP out. Really a fun game. It was "on hold" for quite some time now. Atm we are adding more levels and gfx eye candy. Its a new take on "Bounder", a C64 game. Additional artwork credits go to Ivan Voirol for "grass" and "wood" base materials, courtesy on opengameart.org Thanks!
  19. 95% should be obvious, for the remaining 5 % use your blaster to check.😅 In world 1-3 there are pipes and their interiors parts to fly through. You can actually see what parts of them are walls, its consistent.
  20. Actually it tries to be like Wonderboy in Monsterland. I played through it when i was a kid. I remember we liked it despite its flaws. Today i am a bit less forgiving, Atari released a broken game in respect to some basic design rules.
  21. Ah, Viking child is utterly botched! It is not only about the slow jumps, moving platforms are ridiculously broken. Not only are they moving super fast, but you actually have to press run to stay on top of them. Now couple that with platform to platform Jumps, it gets borderline unplayable and unfun. Whoever programmed this, had no idea how a platformer works properly. I really tried hard to like the game, it has nice gfx, but no music.
