  1. I had reformatted a couple of times and redid the copying of files several times and finally got them all (for the most part) to work. Some folders didn't have 255 files and still caused problems. In fact one folder only had 4 roms and had problems, but recopying a couple of times had fixed that. Thanks for the information.

  2. I am having issues now with my Phoenix reading the memory card and running certain roms. I have tried two different SD cards and I'm experiencing the same issue where I get a failed to open directory error. I am also getting an error sometimes where it says that the rom format is not compatible, but that some rom will work on the colecovision core for the MiSTer.

My Phoenix was an original run Adam colored version. Where is the latest firmware updates located? Does anyone have any idea what can fix these errors? I am hoping to get this fixed before the new rom vault is released. Thanks in advance.

I am on the fence this year.

    Pros: Secret Game or two?

Some additional roms? But I don't know what they are? Should I?

    Supporting Collectorvision.

    Cons:

I have really stopped collecting carts at this point.  (yet I still want them!  DARN) I haven't even tried the 2020 secret game yet. But let's face it. 2020 pretty much sucked.

I don't know what the new roms are? Should I?  Where have I heard that before?

    Not supporting Collectorvision.

If it added the few Intellivision Roms I don't already have... I would be in.

I think it may only be Astro Invader? I think most if not all of the others have been for sale in the past.  I have the cart, but LTO is just easier to deal with.

If you get to 199... I will also be in to get you to the magic number!

Try the 2020 Secret game and you will surely forget that 2020 sucked. It really is that great.

Yes, I heard about that
We're probably going to extend the deadline

I will do my best to promote this as well.

If people are reading this and haven't joined the club yet, last year's secret game was absolutely amazing! If this year's secret game is anywhere near the quality of last year's it will absolutely be worth joining the club!

I've been thinking of building one, I have tried Raspberry pie and retropie but can't get on with it. Have you compared the two? What do you think.

I'd probably have to sell a real Atari or two to fund it hence sitting on the fence

There is no comparison with a raspberry pie. The MiSTer isn't emulation, the FPGA is rewritten every time you load a new core. The FPGA actually simulates the system on a hardware level. The Atari 8 bit core is as good as real hardware. I would actually say it's better because it has dual pokey support, and you can change settings on the fly so PAL and NTSC will not be an issue. It is totally worth the price of admission.

    Welcome (back?) killersquirrel

I didn't know what a MiSTer was so here's a link for anyone else:

    https://github.com/MiSTer-devel/Main_MiSTer/wiki

ok I've got my latest assemble running so I'm definitely updating those tables...

Thank you. The MiSTer will make it a lot easier for me to participate as I always have that hooked up to my main TV. For those that haven't heard of the MiSTer project, it is an FPGA system that is open source. It is not an emulator and basically "simulates" the logic in the actual system that you are playing a core of. If you are interested in getting a MiSTer setup feel free to IM me and I will pass along information on where to get a complete setup or answer any questions.

It has tons of cores to choose from to play all kinds of computer, console, and arcade games. On the Atari 8-bit side it can change between PAL and NTSC on the fly and also has dual pokey support.

FYI... the video is just to show that the new 100 pin PLD code is working correctly and the XM is booting up.    The units shipping out this coming week will be fully populated and fully function, just so anyone who might be confused understands.

The units are finally shipping this week? Where do I go to update my address?

I didn't receive my copy yet. I received my Intellivision Secret Game 3 days ago and I am sure the Colecovision secret game was sent before...

It was. I got the Coleco game first and then the Intellivision a couple of weeks later or so.

    Not going to happen
If someone doesn't like the game, we would prefer if he/she could sell it to a fellow member here instead
We just don't want people to flip the game off ebay, that's it

    We're taking note here
We can take constructive critisms, and it is appreciated too, we didn't take anything personal here

On a side note, if we were selling rom files individually, they would be $10/$15 each, depending on the title

Anyway, next year's game is an arcade conversion (entirely made from scratch) in case you're wondering

I got bought the ColecoVision and Intellivision club this year and like them. I will probably get the next year, but how many more or different games will be in the vault for 2020 from 2019?

The Phoenix does not allow you to enable/disable flicker in-game.  This setting can only be changed at the SD loader menu or during the boot sequence when a physical cart is inserted (using the latest core).

Flicker enabled/disabled is the same as the F18A USR1 jumper setting which toggles between 4 and 32 sprites per scanline being supported.  The original video chip of the CV had a sprite/scanline limit of 4 which would often lead to flicker when more than 4 sprites were present o the same scanline.  So, flicker enabled (USR1 = OFF) is equivalent to how the original CV video chip worked while flicker disabled (USR1 = ON).

The only games that I'm currently aware that benefit from "flicker" being enabled are:

    • Antarctic Adventure
    • QBIQS

I also found that Q*Bert Qubes also benefit from "flicker" being enabled. There are some graphic glitches with flicker being disabled.

  11. I haven't picked up a quest yet and didn't know about sidequest. Thanks for the information. What are your thoughts on the quest? Is it worth getting. How are the games that they have in the storefront?

I actually bought one at EB Games just over a week ago, for 30 bucks. At that price, I felt it was worth purchasing. Unlike my Super-NES Mini (and the Genesis Mini which I'll buy on September 19th) I want to hack my PlayStation Mini and put the games I want, since I don't see much that interests me in the stock selection of games, aside perhaps for Final Fantasy VII and a couple of others.

I'm not sure how easy it is to actually hack this thing, however, as I haven't begun to investigate how to do it yet. I have to locate disc images of the games I want to put (Castlevania SOTN, Mega Man Legends, and my other favorites) and then do some involved process to get everything installed. I just hope the process is well documented somewhere, especially where multi-disc games like FF7 are concerned. Also, I need to avoid PS1 titles that require the DualShock, I don't want to buy another set of controllers.

It is super easy to hack this. I recommend Autobleem as that works with not much set up and is super easy to add games. If you have any questions, you can ask away.

Nothing new on here for a month but so much buzz and info from Tommy Tallarico about the Amico on the Intellivision forum.  I can't help but wonder if it's stolen a bit of the Omni's thunder.  I know the Amico shouldn't affect the SGM2 in any way but was wondering if the emergence of the Amico has altered Opcode's plans for the Omni at all.  I hope not but I need something new to fan the flames of my excitement for the Omni again.

I am excited for both, but the Amico isn't stealing any thunder from the Omni/SGM2. Opcode often goes into work mode and not really posting mode from time to time. This is par for the course. I'm sure we will hear something within a month or so.

  14. I know that I'm psyched for the Phoenix. As someone whom has never owned an Adam, I'm really excited for the potential Adam core. Hopefully we will be able to write to the SD card like the disks could back in the day. It would be great to have your high scores saved in the games that utilized that function and would be great for the upcoming Phoenix games to save high scores to the SD card as well.
