  1. Thanks Shawn, I will try and find out how to do that : )
  2. Thanks Dave, It's been a weird 5 or so years, I don't recall. I got diagnosed with Autistic Spectrum Disorder, I suppose something like Asperger's, probably why I have specialist interests; something to do with Hyper-focus and is a skill really, Just not so much in social groups ha. I hope you are well, i'm trying to start collecting and trading again to help with bills. Hope you and your family are safe and well, I am still alive (obviously) Nice to hear from you : )
  3. Hey folks, Well... the Atari market has got very strange since I was actively collecting and trading 7-10 years ago, wish I kept my 10 copies of ET and it seems the common classics are out running the rare games. I have paid good money for some less common titles and I am hoping to trade for nice CIB copies of Space Invaders, Donkey Kong, Donkey Kong Jr? Demon Attack H.E.R.O (you never know ; ) and the usual classics. I am in the U.K but most games are region free ; although I think play 16% faster and obviously the colours are not right on games like River Raid and Pitfall etc that have hugs blocks of colour. Willing to consider any decent sealed games and E.T CIB would be great (in any condition) and I am also happy to buy CIB games if the trade isn't for you. I have loseo "Star Strike", "Wing War" (original not Hozer), and I think a rare U.S.A made multi cart but oddly has some official PAL games and a few hacks. I know people are asking silly money for common V-shapes and Taiwan Mini Cooper etc but we al know which are more common than others I have not seen a huge amount of these SuperVision games and they are on a high quality cartridge with "Made in the U.S.A" embossed, I like the pink and blue carts and I have great 4-in-1 which has River Raid (appears PAL with Galaga written at the bottom, seems to be a normal PAL Pitfall as all the colours are correct , Spider Kong, (Spider Maze, Spider Monster etc) and a Homevision game which is I forget the name of? Anyway, happy to pay postage for the boxed games on offer in a trade as that will hit you more than me posting this little guy. I value my cart at around $50 , I would trade for a boxed E.T. as those are fetching £50 and I sold my collection years ago and lost some of it in a building collapse so it pains me to be looking for a copy of ET now all the hipsters and prob Netflix have driven the price up, oh,,,and of course the desert landfill doc. I will upload Wing War soon...off to bed. I know the world is on fire! it's the apocalypse but maybe some of us are still doing nerdy things to keep occupied and sane! Let me know what classic games you can offer for these 2 for now? I think $80 of trades on these 2 in my humble (& not expert anymore) opinion; depending on the game and condition as Star Strike (PAL) has a $30 value without greed. Also interested in loose cart bundles of less common NTSC titles like: Star Trek, Buck Rogers, Flash Gordon, Turmoil, Worm War I, & Beanie Bopper etc are held in high regard over the this side of the pond so what might be a $8-$10 game to you i more like $15-$20 over here because of the postage and the dreaded eBay Global Shipping Programme! Night, keep playing Atari Antony - Atari Attic
  4. Hey folks, I picked up a PAL Spider Maze 2600 game. Looking closely at the label, it looks like its double labelled (like most of these in PAL land) but even the Spider Monster games are very rare and can fetch $100+ The cart works perfectly and is in excellent condition, what looks like label spotting is actually in the original print but is magnified by the double labeling. The label has age to it and is not a new reproduction. Anything rare 7+ considered and nice boxes are always welcome but I have most R5 games CIB so looking for something more unusual. and loose carts are fine. I have traded before on AA and do collect so know a little bit about rarity before i'm offered standard CIB games worth $20 ; ) I value my game at $125 and reproductions are being sold on eBay for $100 which are clearly only ltd to the amount made and any given time. This one looks to be also double labelled if you look closely. (sorry if the seller is reading this) http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/atari-2600-spider-maze-game-k-tel-ktel-t-handle-ultra-rare-/251829912622?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item3aa23b842e http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/atari-2600-game-SPIDER-MONSTER-K-TEL-ULTRA-RARE-/251831139876?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item3aa24e3e24 Spider Monster label is likely to be underneath on mine (same game) In my view Spider Monster has less value than a PAL K-TEL Spider Maze *there are original PAL Spider Maze carts. The K-Tel NTSC Spider Maze games actually still have "FunVision" written in the games code (displayed bottom left during play). FunVision must have made Spider Maze for early K-Tel distribution along with Vulture Attack and then made PAL versions changing the games titles. Vulture Attack = Space Monster in PAL land. This double label business happened in the late 80s/90s to my knowledge. I picked up one about 15 years ago that was already very old and had a worn label. Open to offers but a trade would be nice.
  5. look! new lid thanks to Knimrod. A successful USA to UK 800 lid donor : ) Looks very nice indeed and if anything upgraded. It's still not on properly so I have concluded I am useless but thanks for all your help .
  6. Thanks, I thought this was a tumbleweed post so glad someone else thinks this is cool and unusual : )
  7. Hello Atari fans. Possibly a boring post but here goes anyway. I've come across an unusual and official Atari brand CX2000/2600 power supply (UK 240V). I say "rare" because i've probably handled over 1000 2600 PSUs as I recondition the Woody 2600 light sixer models and have purchased 100s of job lots over the last 10 years. The label reads Atari CX-2000/2600 (in that order) It's similar in design to the early 1977/78 Cherry Leisure and Ingersol PSUs which came with UK Sunnyvale light Sixers and the PAL heavy Sixers but must have been made in 1982 (after the Val Proto was made obviously). As far as i'm aware it's unique and interesting that is says 2000 first as it if was made with the Val model in mind? Has anyone ever seen a 120V one of these? Probably not that interesting to most of you, but is to me considering the obscurity of the CX-2000 so I must be the only person with labelled power supply for one. A label error but shows the 2000 was on someones mind at the factory in the UK for it to be produced. Any thoughts?
  8. Thanks but cart lid hinges have snapped completely off, this is no longer a how do I fit enquiry. I broke it applying too much pressure. It's a new lid request but not having much luck although fingers crossed on an offer just waiting a reply. I'm offering min $25 just for the front lid (the back grill is fine)
  9. Hey Knim. I'm out for the day but my email is atariattic@hotmail.co.uk any pics of the lid can do to my email as well if thats cool. Thanks again. Antony
  10. That would be great, I suppose if the logo is scratched up it might not be for me, or if too yellow but as I said I have the grill (back section) so just the front flap/cart lid required (which removes from the back grill easily) I thought it was one large hinged piece at first.
  11. russ you can have Designer Pencil cart with manual and box as I understood your instructions so you win : ) i'm a man of my word and probably saves me breaking more lids in the future ; ) I'll hopefully be able to buy a lid of Knim. Let me know your name and address for postage
  12. Originally I thought I needs the whole lid (with grill) I only need the cart lid so front part. I can see its two parts now. So happy to pay $20 + shipping for that if thats cool? Russg?
  13. Hey , Russg. I now know what tabs you mean in the metal plate, that is invaluable advice for when I get a new lid : ) I have to bare in mind that I was a bit stressed and not thinking when I tried this on Monday, so although others helped and before,(NIm) I thought tabs were the erm..front latches as was seeing red and not reading messages properly. so probably needed a circle around the notches in a pic on the metal plate (or something idiot proof). When I read the word "a little down Pressure" I went all primal and looked like a ape trying to open a tin of beans (no offence to an intelligent primate) I actually sold the 800 and was due to post it to Germany on Monday so breaking it cost me that sale and I had to buy another 800 (not cheap) to replace for my costumer so as I only truly understood just now reading the "hello! you understand!?" from Russ (too late) and described two notches in the metal plate rear Even though Nim had pics and was in first with a link, (my mind was all over the place and couldn't find help on that thread (to be fare I probably gave it 1 minute) so was more down to my lack or patience. I probably needed to see the notches, and my 800 lid had a .08mm gap (almost a cm) and I cant see that in Nims pics. Technically I still haven't attach the lid but i'm happy to buy one off Knim. I still haven't managed to attach my broken lid which is clean in half so I will try properly later as it's a sore subject. I seem to just to almost black out as soon as I attempt it. Well I mean draw a blank, I often use dramatic terminology.
  14. HI, Knimrod, that would be amazing. Can you send me a picture of the lid please? and i'm happy to pay for it (if its anywhere near the right tone). : )
  15. If anyone has a decent beige (not yellow) lid? - i'm paying $35 + UK shipping.
  16. Thanks Knimrod, my finesse went out of the window and I just snapped the lid clean in half (whoops) least I now know it can not be re-attached. Not the resolution I was after, the worst thing is that it was all fine, then I had a flashback of a lid nightmare months ago and took the lid off thinking "how could I of had a problem before" and got sucked right back into 800 lid hell. Today has not been a good day. Thanks for all your help.
  17. thanks, if russg is correct then i've been trying to do something i've already achieved and wins, although it doesn't feel right for the back to just lift off so easily. leaving a side gap as well. I will have another look and see if i'm where I need to be. Thanks to rdea6 and eeun I have the tabs in the correct place and the lid will close and computer will work but the back of the lid is just resting on the back which Cant be right? surely that needs to be more secure. Plus just found a pic of an 800 with the lid as it should be from the back without a near 1cm gap. I will read again later but not sure about the gap as you can even see it from the side view so will add another pic with tabs, in case i'm not explaining this well. Thanks all Antony
  18. Hi, fellow Atari fans. I have an Atari 800 lid/hood conundrum. I have been driving myself mad for the last 3 hours trying to re-attach the lid (or hood) on a 800 model. Incased ROM/OS with latches. I seem to have stumbled across a paradoxical riddle to which there is no solution or answer or I have failed a rudimentary intelligence test and I am in fact very dumb, which is my preferred outcome if I can get this frigging lid back on before I fire my 800 out of a cannon into the stratosphere. I should point out that the Atari power latch works fine and that the lid was on fine before I slotted it out and nothing is missing or broken apart from my will to live. (i'm of course exaggerating ; ) I will offer a CIB Designers Pencil cart to who ever helps me get this lid back on. If I use a combination of answers i'll add runner up gifts for any help I use. I 30 second video would be amazing and win (should only take 30 seconds) not 3 hrs my current time wresting this beast to no avail. Here is my problem. Any Q? fire away. Forget the plastic latches for a moment as I cant even figure this out after removing them. If I remove the screws (which should not even be necessary) the lid will only fit in to the correct position leaving a 8mm gap at the back of the casing where the hood should sit into it's 2cm ingress. When the back of the hood is in the correct position the screws can no longer be attached because the bottom hood metal plate is now 3mm into the where the screw should be! making it impossible to fit the lid. I can see the latches are supposed to sit on top of the metal plate but i cant seem to achieve this without the back of the hood not being connected as it should. Pic 1 - correct position of hood metal lip under where screw should sit on top to secure = pic 2 8mm gap at the back of the hood where it should be nestled into ingress. Pic 3 - incorrect positioning of the metal lip now no room to put the screw = Pic 4 a perfect fit! at the back but then the hood is not attached. What on earth am I doing wrong?
  19. Thanks Rom Hunter! the installs JS on pitfall II are from Jeremy Health-Smith who invented the Lara Croft and the Tomb Raider franchise. He was the CEO at CORE Design (Rick Dangerous, Chuck Rock , Dynamite Duke etc... ) http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Core_Design Rick Dangerous was a great and very funny platform game on the Atari ST and various formats and was a very popular game in the UK (I used to love it) - Rick is wearing pitfall Harrys Hat! (they just gave him a gun! for self defence) if you click on the link below you'll see a Pitfall! harry or probably a more Indiana Jones character which might have influenced Pitfall! seeing as the first IJ film came out in 1981. https://www.google.co.uk/search?q=atari+rick+dangerous&espv=2&source=lnms&tbm=isch&sa=X&ei=kF_lU7XeF6e60QXl04G4DA&ved=0CAYQ_AUoAQ&biw=1723&bih=832#q=rick%20dangerous&tbm=isch&facrc=_&imgdii=_&imgrc=Wu2kjOqa4nH3iM%253A%3B0gDmmagm_XBgzM%3Bhttp%253A%252F%252Fwww.simonphipps.com%252Fdesign%252Fimages%252FRickDangerousBoxArt.jpg%3Bhttp%253A%252F%252Fwww.simonphipps.com%252Fdesign%252Frickdangerous.htm%3B256%3B320 Jeremy Smith also worked as a managing director for U.S Gold (in the U.k) whom released computer ports of various arcade games by Capcom such as Street Fighter, Final Fight, Street Fighter II, Ghouls 'n Ghosts, Mercs and Forgotten Worlds etc..In addition to porting the original Strider, and an original sequel titled "Strider II" So my guess is that he was very fond of Pitfall II and may interview him about his influences on Tomb Raider in person (My friend interviews actors for Blue Ray releases with audio-commentary) but I would like to interview Jeremy based on his time at Activision through to Tomb Raider and what his up to now! I'd like to know his thoughts or indeed input on these later games and his early gaming influences. So the ball is in motion..Dave has the Proto and was very generous with trades (and I tried to do the same) so we are both happy. Although the Activision Loaners are not EPROMS and finished games (I hope!) I'm rubbish at Pitfall II cant get to the balloon stage! grrrr but agree with Tempest these are full games not Protos (just labeled as such ) The point of my ramblings is i think it's a very cool thing that a staff member once initialling Activision Loaners went on to be a big shot in modern gaming and a millionaire! whom I think was massively influenced by his time at Activision in the early 80s. I Just noticed Rom Hunter is Indiana Jones. A more versatile Pitfall Harry! Antony
  20. Sorry, nofrills. I was venting and I agree rarity isn't alway's value and new pirates are probably found every week that might have never been seen (which are overlooked). I would agree that Miner II is less common PAL (probably the only of the Tigervision set that is apart from River Patrol which only 2 PAL copies seemed to have surfaced. I guess to me, if someones putting out a trade. The first response read like "no way are you going to get a CIB miner II" and the second "Miner II is in fact rarer " I never said it wasn't. I don't think any trades are R5 vs R5 or R8 vs R8 it's about how long you have been looking, condition and other factors . Someone that's wiling to give up a Miner II with a not so good box that wants my PAL CIB BOMB, may have subsequently been put off my trade by the comments. I was more bothered by the first comment, and then felt ganged up on as I also originally said "I'm open to any loose R7s" and there's a lots of loose R7s that are not worth a CIB Great Escape. I put most Pirate-Cave artwork v shapes at R4-6 unless they are called "Meatball City" or "Mouse Mania" I've had V shapes called "Flip Zero", "Gordons Santa" and nuts-brigade, I don't know what they are worth because I just made them up as the bad Taiwanese - English translators did at the time (which is why you've got to love a V-shape ; ) I would say that "Fishing" spelt correctly is a grammatical improbability and on a standard pirate-cave cart with a sea near by, lord only knows. If is was called fiiiiishing and had a picture of batman i'd give it an R8 ; ) I'm doing it again (it's bed time) I'm in trade on both the Bomb and Activision Protos and happy : ) Jesus i'm having a public V-shape breakdown. (those crazy pictures will do that to you ) but on a serious note there are some great V shapes ; )
  21. Iv'e added some Activision Protos PItfall II, Pressure Cooker and Robot tank up for trade as well. I'm still identifying them but I think they are full game (Loaner Equivalents), so 100% the real deal (in that they are dated and came from the nearby Activision European Headquarters in the UK). I'm rubbish at Pitfall II so don't know if it's the full game of not : /
  22. Thanks, Foxsolo. I suppose i'm open to any trades but opened up a Miner Vol II can or worms. (i'm also happy with CIB Cosmic Commuter) Espial was pushing it (and a joke to myself), but a loose Espial would be ok. Which i've picked up for 50 Euros (PAL) a few times which is of Similar value to this. (seeing thats its got all it's paperwork and tray) Most of these boxes turn up like a bomb has gone off in them.
  23. I know someone that might be able to identify the ROMs but will do some more digging and playing this evening/tomorrow. I'm rubbish as Pitfall II so i'll assume it's the full game unless something strange happens and will test again tomorrow
  24. I'm not sure yet, as I need to play them for longer than I have .. I'm leaning towards full versions unless they stop playing (nothing unusual about the graphics) I don't think they are EPROMS (which is a shame) I usually come across Loaners, these are fairly new to me, although I've seen plenty of NTSC Protos on eBay just never U.K PAL examples. So rare I think (lucky to find 3 at once) i'm not sure of value so was just going to see what I get offered in trades. Is nothing of interested perhaps I will eBay them but at 99p so i'm not putting a value on them.
