I bought one from Target when it was $30, and I bought four more today at $20. That's an amazing price. They will make good gifts.

I have cables like that (I think they're from Amazon) but I only use them attached to 3DS docks, not while in use.
You might try the same? Use for charging, not charging and playing?
Thanks for your input. They do seem to work fine for charging, and I could avoid using the wall wart with the maddening swivel prongs. I wonder if there is some extra circuitry in the OEM charger that allows you to play and charge simultaneously.

I recently bought a couple 3DS to USB cables for a few bucks. I was hoping to use a regular phone charger with the cable and occasionally use a power bank when needed.
However, when I attach the cables to a 5v, 2A charger (also used 5v, 1A) the charging light on the 3DS blinks erratically rather than staying solidly lit when the console is on. Same thing happens with a power bank. The light stays on if the console is powered off.
My question is whether anyone successfully uses this cable to power the 3DS while the console is on. I tried both cables, so I don't think it is because of a defect in one.

Most Windows 98 games run just as well or better in XP. The exceptions are those games that require hardware with no XP drivers such as Aureal Vortex sound cards.
Windows 98 is a versatile OS because of it can play DOS games.

My ebay Bucks is a weak $9.27 this time.
But my upcoming "Big Fat Check" from Rakuten is gonna be solid. It's around $58 right now and I think most of it is ebay hits at 2% each. So I am kinda "double dipping" on ebay.
Do you link to eBay from Rakuten?

Phil's Computer Lab on Youtube has some nice videos on using a P4 system to play retro games.

Xbox 360 and PS3 dropped HBO Go support this year, so I replaced them as streaming boxes with a used Xbox One. I also have a 4K Fire Stick, but I like the optical audio out of the consoles.
A few years ago, a used Xbox 360 Slim was about $70, and now a used Xbox One is about $80-$100. So it's annoying but not the end of the world.

The Capcom Dungeons & Dragons beat 'em ups, Tower of Doom and Shadow over Mystara, are great. I played them with CoinOps 8 on a modded Xbox, then just bought them for the PS3 off the PS Store.
Not sure if it has been mentioned already, but Gauntlet Legends for Xbox/PS2/GC.

Thank you -- this is very helpful. Was this functionality the plug-in that Albert had purchased in a bulk lot with other plug-ins that allows us to ignore certain sub-forums? Or is this part of the basic Invision package? Just want to know if I can expect another way to ignore forums and sub-forums.

Apologies if this question has been asked in this thread already, but how do you delete custom activity streams?

I would be more likely to suspect resellers of jacking up auction prices to protect their investments (and then retracting bids or not paying) before I suspected Goodwill employees.
But it is true that the days of really good deals is over. On less popular stuff, you might get a 25% discount over eBay, but then you have to be willing to risk that the item isn't working. But for less popular stuff, there are still bargains to be found. And if you want three untested Wiis or a pair of Xbox 360s, you're in luck.

Here is an auction for a boxed Jag that ended yesterday for $242. As with most items from Shopgoodwill, it's untested, so you take your chances. But it's not an unreasonable number.

You mentioned that you got retroarch working--this is a feat I haven't achieved yet. I think I'm going to need to watch a video or two on it. Heck, when I tried it on PC a bit ago I very similarly failed.
I just clicked on the Homebrew App Store, found Retroarch, and installed it from there with a click. Then I added a few ROMs to the SD card and found them with the Retroarch app, and they loaded and played fine. I'm not sure if I did it right because I've never used Retroarch before.

I ordered when I read that post too, and mine arrived yesterday. Haven't opened yet tho.

Thanks for this video. I modded my Wii U today with the Haxchi exploit and installed Retroarch, which seems to work fine.
What I really wanted the mod for was to load my Wii games off a USB drive. (The long quest to get good HDMI output for Wii games off USB is almost over.) For my softmodded Wii, I use USB Loader, which works great. But I take it that I need another method for the Wii U.
I may end up using the WiiVC injector, but does anyone know if there are other good options?

I hope this thread doesn't devolve into rants about how much salary the Goodwill CEO earns, but whenever I see this happen on the site, I chalk it up to buyers willing to be generous to a charity rather than scratching and clawing to get the lowest possible price.

I forgot to add that the Nyko Zoom snap-on lens is a nice addition to the Kinect if you are limited by space in your room. It allows you to be as close as 4 feet from the Kinect.
Also, there's a seller selling Fruit Ninja codes on eBay for about $4. Totally worth it.
-
There were a couple of 360 Kinects at my local thrift for $6 apiece. You can buy them with a 360 Slim on Shopgoodwill for $40 before shipping all day long. I'm going to hook mine up later and play some Fruit Ninja with the kid.

One word of caution -- the top half of the case does not fit back on if you use the heatsinks in my photo above. The heatsinks are too tall and touch the case. I didn't stick them on yet but will probably still do so with the cover off as usual. Unless I get daring and Dremel out a hole above the data IC.
And I had already removed the RF shield from all of the Astrocades I have in operation. ?

With Intellivision exclusively licensing some Atari games, we might be able to say in a year that the best new Atari games will be playable only on an Intellvision product.

Here you go. Vogons is where you want to be for anything retro PC related. There's a program called IDE Diag attached to a post in this thread.

Yes, that was my plan. Or give them a USB drive with some simple instructions. I haven't modded my own yet, though.
What's the method with the best ease-to-features ratio you've found, if you don't mind my asking?
