  1. well are you sure you've installed the CDM20814_Setup.exe ? I mean, it 's strange (at least at the win7 device manager pic) not to show the Ports (COM & LPT) tree! hmmm, run again the exe SIO2USB not connected). reboot. connect usb, reboot again...!
  2. As I said you should always reboot to win having the cable connected. I don't know why though, win just don't recognize it unless you reboot. hmmm strange. give it a try again, before sending back etc
  3. do you connect it via usb hub? if so, try to connect it directly to a PC usb.
  4. Oh! It should have the COM/LPT tree in device manager. It can't be! COM ports are always available! hmm ok give it a try using winXP. Use exactly the same file (it works on XP too, tested already)
  5. No no need to show up to USB devices tree! Check the Ports (COM & LPT) tree! go to control panel device manager open Ports (COM & LPT) tree and you should see "USB Serial Port (COMxxx)" alternatively, if you go to AspeQt under Options you can test which COM port is set to the SIO2USB (say type COM1 if not, type COM2, then COM3 etc) then pressing ok (I assume you also change to DSR and 19200 as prviously said)
  6. how did you installed the drivers? Did you download and run the CDM20814_Setup.exe ? This is the ONLY way that works (I've spent too much time to find out that) If you did so (hope you did), then note the followng: Always reboot the system having the SIO2USB attached Both XP and 7 for some reason do not see the cable when you're in the OS and plugging the cable. need to rboot WITH the cable (at least for my case, but give it a try)
  7. I've got Win7 too. So, Download the CDM20814_Setup.exe file (this is the FTDI 232R DRIVERS XP-Vista-7) and run it. from here http://www.mediafire.com/?14c462x4kz4dz3y or wherever you find better. Then all u need to find out on which COM port your USB device is being set (i.e. COM,COM2,COM3 etc). Having the SIO2USB connected (without being attached to Atari), open AspeQt Go to Options Write the appropriate COM port (on your right) Select the DSR as Handshake method (on your right) Select a low speed for the baud rate, say 19200 (1x) Press Ok Now the console at the bottom should print the following: Serial port speed set to 19200. Emulation started through standard serial port backend on 'COM3' with DSR handshaking. That's it! Hope it helps. Had the same issue before, and people helped me too!
  8. wishing the best for your son mate. hope nothing serious :-)
  9. found! ok now, had to make the ATR by selecting (when creating an atr) the SpartaDOS... so simple that is!
  10. I have edit my previous post a lot here, sorry
  11. question... I have successuly made a rom file with a few (xex) games via sicgen. Now, when trying to create an .ATR that will contain this .ROM file and the sicflash.com using the MakeATR, the program throws an error saying "Disk Full, cannot allocate space for xxx.rom. It need 2065 sec" Any idea what what I do wrong here? note that in the MakeATR, when creating the ATR i'm choosing the Density DD (720 sectors, 256bytes/sec) and Format SpartaDos X (as is in the SicCart)
  12. worked! oh yes it was this DSR handshaking method needed! I've used 1x speed also. thanks sloopy!
